    Thank you for this❤️it is really informative and helpful! I am a long time nanny but everytime i am going for an interview i always look for some help with the not awkward questions for employers😁 here is one!😁 2020 was the hardest year in finding a full time nanny job because of the pandemic, mostly family look for just part time .

    Excellent video! I wish I had watched this before my first few interviews (1st time Nanny). It's so important that families realize we are not just "Babysitters" (WHO ARE AWESOME TOO!) but take this role seriously as professional childcare providers. Thank you so much

      yes!! There's a huge difference between a sitter and a nanny. Glad the video helped even if it was after the fact.

      I'm much happier with this job than my last job (the mom was so mean at my last job), but I remember current mom boss said, "we've never paid a sitter more than $15/hour" at one point. It rubbed me the wrong way for a few reasons. I'm not a sitter I'm a nanny, same with the last "sitter." Also, she had another kid since she hired the last lady who was btw obese to a point where it interfered with her ability to do the job. She is an acquaintance of mine and told me the job was a lot of work. This job is so much easier than my last job watching homeschooled boys 6 and 9. Man, they dragged me around the 84 acre lake a few times. We went everywhere!!

    I’ve been a professional nanny since 2010. I took the last 2 years off to provide full time care for my mother who suffered two strokes & became completely reliant on others. I’ve finally secured help with her & decided to get back into what I love which is childcare. I had an interview with a family this morning, & it went beautifully! I was offered the position & accepted! I watched this video last night just for a refresher & found it quite helpful, you mentioned a few things I had completely forgotten to add into my list of questions. Thank you for taking the time to make this video, you hit a lot of great points & shared quality knowledge/advice.

    I am on my second really nanny job. I had some other situations where people had been told I would nanny for them and they walked all over me. I asked a lot of these questions when I met with current mom boss. I live in NYC so there's no driving but I wanted to be able to go to the store and the park and I am even allowed to go to the laundromat and do my laundry on the clock. The only real issue is that we're all Jewish and mom boss keeps a stricter kosher than I do so there are things I can't eat in front of her kids or buy in front of them because she doesn't want her kids asking for them because they aren't within their kosher limits but they are within mine. I was scared to ask for a contract, but I followed up from the interview by Emailing everything to her and asking her to make sure I had it all right.

    Hi I am interested in being a Nanny these questions help me alot I just what to know how to play with the kids with out going on the floor and what to play with boad games and what else to do with them and I want to get my own house I want to be able to take the kids on trips so the parents have to get another carseat I don't like staying at home

    • @maddiex012
      @maddiex012  4 роки тому +1

      Hi! If you nanny for little ones you will need to get one the floor. And be open and honest with the parents about wanting to take the kids on trips. I've met families who aren't comfortable with it and I have not taken a job from those families because I could not stay home all the time.

    I always ask if there are any guns in the home because one nanny job I had was for a crazy woman who kept a loaded gun under her bed and had two toddlers. They did not touch the gun but I was shocked to discover her stupidity.

    I know it may be kind of taboo but how much do you charge?? I am just starting off (in MA as well) and I was thinking of charging $20-25 because I’m pretty qualified with child care and education from two other jobs, but would it be too much to set my rate at $25 to start?

    • @maddiex012
      @maddiex012  4 роки тому +3

      Yes, I charge $22-$25. It does depend on where your job is so you have to keep that in mind.

      Purely Maddie
      Definitely. I’ve been taking dozens of emails lately and it’s hard since many parents are looking for part time now while their kids are in hybrid learning situations, but I’m not going to settle for a less-than-ideal situation when I know I can find something right for me that pays well too!

    what’s the difference between baby sitter and nanny? I assume nanny is more long term?

    • @maddiex012
      @maddiex012  3 роки тому

      A babysitter is someone who just comes and hangs out with the kids. Could be on a regular basis or not. A nanny is someone who is more dedicated and committed to the family/job. Typically they have more responsibilities than just playing with the kids. For example they could be in charge of laundry, meal prepping for the kids or family, take the kids on outings. It's common to have a contract and benefits with a nanny but not as a babysitter. Hope that answers your question!
