- A very interesting Mayfly spinner pattern that puts deer hair to good use for both the body and the wing post. Often used on a # 6 XL hook for the great Hex hatch, but tied on smaller sizes it works well for most mayflies as with this # 12 yellow may here.

🤔. If I were to tie anything remotely this nice.....it would be a miracle.
You sir make me look like a hack......😳
The only word that comes to mind.........
Outstanding!
Thank you Robert.
Clearly it is important to be meticulous when tying this fly! Thanks, Barry
Clearly Gary...
Outstanding Instructional Video, Thanks for the great work Barry.
Glad you enjoyed it Lee.
Wow that’s a busy fly Barry and you tied it perfectly you are a master of the art pal.All the best 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🏴🏴🏴
Thank you so much 😀 James, give it a go and let me know how you get on.
@@Thefeatherbender I do tie my own flies Barry but this one is beyond my skill set when a fly becomes busy like that I struggle with proportions that’s why I’m in awe watching yourself it’s truly a master at work. All the best Barry thank you for taking time to reply👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴
Master at work Barry. Stay well, Big Davie
Thanks Davie
Barry, That's a neat variation to a spent feather wing spinner the late Russ Mowry used to tie around here. I was taught the technique by one of his proteges about 20 years ago. With that deer hair, your pattern should float like a cork!
Thanks. Very cool James! Don't know Russ Mowry? I can't find who the originator was for this pattern but it was Jerry Regan from Grayling Michigan that popularized it, in a # 6 for the Hex hatch.
Wow, this is a tough fly that you just made look easy! I may be a couple of years away from even attempting this one. :-)
Hi Matt, thanks. Not that difficult, just looks that way I'm sure that you can do this.
Awesome ! I love the deer hair body used for the post , will definitely try this . Thank you Sir !
So nice of you Chris. Please let me know how you get on.
Amazing great job thanks for sharing
Thank you.
Lovely stuff as always Barry. I use something similar, a Deerstalker, on Lough Derg for the E.Danica hatch.
Great floatability and highly visible in low light.
Hi Bob, thanks. I don't know the deer stalker! I'll have to look that one up!
this is an awesome tie. i am going to study this one because i have a hard time with posts and parachutes. love this fily ... the peacock hurl is an awesome touch. thank you again < J

Thank you.

Thanks!
Rename fly to most fiddliest fly
LOL very funny!
👎🏻 Not Jerry’s pattern or even close. Original Tyer does not approve…. You should take this down.
Thats interesting Chris, I'm always looking for the original pattern, this one I got from Fly Tyer magazine in the US. Please post a video of how to tie it correctly and send me a link. Thanks in advance.
@@Thefeatherbender Jerry Regan himself would love for you to contact him. You are doing this completely wrong!
I had to find the video just to make sure someone let him know. Thanks Chris.
Congratulations on tying this pattern completely wrong in every aspect. You don't even come close to the right technique, size and usage of this fly. What Hatch would you use that in? Size 12? You have to be joking. 1 out of 10.
Thats interesting Alfred, I'm always looking for the original pattern, this one I got from Fly Tyer magazine in the US. Please post a video of how to tie it correctly and send me a link. Thanks in advance.
Here in Norway It's used for the Vulgata and Danica hatch.
@@Thefeatherbender just rename it. Do not call it the Regan Spinner!!!
