Marion: "Indy why can't I just jump up and hit the button?" Indy: "Trust me Marion, it's much more efficient and easier if I tie you up and throw you like a baseball at it"
this was MY game as a kid, played so much of it on the WII, it's what birthed my love for open world games, even if this really wasn't a true open world. the exploration was just so fun.
5:10 my guess why your screen gets black when matt is launched so high is that he is so high, that the numbers representing his height overflow, and it becomes NaN. Which means you delete him from existence
i just recently discovered your channel and i was always a sucker for lego games and seeing you do all this stuff i thought unimaginable is awesome. never not entertained!
LEGO Indiana Jones 2 might not be a good game, but I feel like most people deeply misunderstand what it was supposed to be. It was a hugely experimental game, both in technical terms and its game design. It was the first LEGO game to introduce split-screen coop, allowing players to go their separate ways instead of being tied to one another with an invisible string; the level editor was another ambitious project, but sadly it didn't go anywhere. In terms of game design, the developers tried out to reshuffle the formula which was getting repetitive after several games (Lego Star Wars 1 and 2, Lego Indiana Jones 1 and Lego Batman 1 all preceded LIJ2). First, they created separate hub worlds and, largely, moved the collectibles out of the levels themselves: extra bricks were split into three different kinds, and getting them involves some object hunting in the hub; there are challenges and races with driveable vehicles to unlock characters, and the characters are unlocked in the hubworld itselfs. Instead of using minikits for display, the player is teased with a large buildable structure to which the minikits hold various parts, which provides an incentive to collect them and see what will be built in the end. Second, free play was replaced with "Afterstory" levels: instead of returning to the same level with an expanded cast of characters, the player is taken to an after-story version of the level to solve a character puzzle. These are entirely new levels which feel like an extension of the hub, and you are required to carry over certain characters from the hub to complete them, which in turn requires actions in the hub to unlock the necessary characters, resulting in a big meta-puzzle. While the story levels are no doubt overly formulaic and lacking in substance, this approach to free play is geniunely fun and, in my opinion, better than the traditional one. Second, they split the roster. I personally don't like this idea at all, but I understand where the developers were coming from. In the previous games, once you had a character with an ability, all other characters of the same type were rendered unnecessary for free play completion. The split roster ensures that the characters have their place in the hub and that their gameplay role won't be invalidated by unlocks from different parts: you can't solve the digging puzzle in Part 1 of the KotCS using Salah from Raiders, you need to find and unlock that Russian Digger character for that. The implementation of these ideas came with a cost: because all of the characters had to exist in the hub world, they all needed their own corner and a puzzle or another condition to appear, so a lot of characters which didn't fit never made the cut, and the overall roster is even smaller than in Lego Indiana Jones 1. The costume system was not implemented yet, so the player can only control a single variant of a character in a given hub world. Even though there is Indiana Jones in a dinner jacket, his desert garbs, the officer disguise and other costumes, the player can only control them in story levels or at a certain story point in the hub world. The vehicle physics are janky, and no doubt a lot of players experienced frustration from having to win the races for 100% completion. Of course, the association with and a big emphasis on the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull didn't help the game's image. But it was the game where TT Games first looked past a single hub and tried to accomodate different settings of several stories in one game. This is the approach that would later lead to open-world LEGO games like LEGO Batman 2 and, further down the line, the planets of the Skywalker Saga and a focus on puzzles in them instead of inside the levels. In retrospect, LEGO Indiana Jones 2 was a very innovative game, and it's a shame that it doesn't get the recognition for the leap that it allowed the LEGO games to achieve. Almost 14 years laters, it still has better split-screen than the Skywalker Saga.
This is part of why Lego indiana jones 2 is my favorite lego game. nostalgia aside It's strangely innovative, and you can actively see how the hub world design lead onwards to become what lego games are today (and arguably in the skywalker saga they still have separate hub worlds in a similar way, just on a larger scale) I've seen people complain about the weird surreal mashup of movies as the hub worlds. but I think that its really fun to see how they merged globetrotting movies into singular areas. and it meant that I never knew what I might find when exploring. I will say the level design is not amazing alot of the time, and is buggy as hell. I'm hoping that with the dial of destiny having released, Tt might make another lego indiana jones game to include it, and rework thier older levels, with thier newer game design in mind.
Amazing! Kudos, that must have taken forever to have done. Though I will say, I am curious to know if all the levels including the bonus levels are also completable jumpless too. But either way, I love stuff like this and I would totally love to see if or how much other Lego games are jumpless too.
I’m well aware the LIJ 1 is impossible without jumping, but I am interested to see how little you have to jump. Or maybe a pacifist run of either LIJ. Either way I’m certain that if it’s a LIJ video, I’ll most certainly watch it, as it’s my favorite LEGO franchise.
I remember when I got this game for my 8th birthday, my brother and I spent the entire afternoon playing it only to come back the next day with all the files being corrupted and me crying for hours
I had this game as a kid and enjoyed it, I even created a level I called the hall of doom, it was a long hall of many saws which I would try to get through, hit was too long so I couldn't get through it, I would have quite enjoyed that game more, however my xbox put a big circle scratch on it.
I was also going to write this. He also mistakenly called “Dovchenko” by the name “Dietrich”. “Dietrich” is the name of the Nazi officer from Raiders of the Lost Ark and is a very German name, not Russian like the Soviets in KotCS.
with dial of destiny coming out there's false hope that LIJ3 will happen but to help my fellow lego enthusiasts who don't mind "bad" source material, we didn't get LPotC2 which honestly would have been cool.
That would be fun to watch. I remember this one time playing it where the level with the monkey in it glitched out and we couldn't finish the level, or something like that.

You can find it if you search “undertale select (OLD AS HELL HOW IS THIS MY MOST VIEWED VIDEO)” (I would leave a link, but my comments get deleted when I try doing it).

How close can you get to 100% in LB3 in only story mode
How about the minimal amount of builds in LB1 or 2?
Lego Batman Minimum Batman Run? (Timer only ticks up while you are Actively Being Batman)
No jump/ studs for Lego star wars 3
Any percentage completion for lego starwars 3

A spleen-did video as always!
You should do a video where you beat Indiana Jones 2 without jumping.
HOOOOOOOLY SHIT. You should do a video where you explain how you did this.
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLYYYYYY SHIIIIIIIT
6:36 Truly a crime to call it an "Aztec" temple. The movie takes place in Peru, with the fictional "Ugha" tribe. Not Mexico.

Isn't it nice that you can make custom levels to test speedrun tricks?
Very spleen feature.
Another banger as always! I'd love to see some more TCS or TSS content

although it wasn’t a perfect game, it was definitely a necessary step in the evolution of lego games, and I do love going back to it
