      Look at round 7 in the fight where Holmes abused an old -sick Ali. Ali danced and jabbed and won the round and Holmes had difficulty in that round. The only round Ali won. He would have handled Holmes. But Larry in my opinion is one of the top 5 Heavyweight Champs of All time.

    • @n1kobefan
      @n1kobefan 8 років тому +1

      +Man of Steel the fact that it took for the corner men to stop the fight is a testament to Ali and shows how Holmes would really have had no chance against an in prime great

      1964-1967 Ali, before his best years were robbed, would still... definitely beat Holmes....no problem.

    Very underrated because he had to follow Ali/ never wanted to fight a shot Ali, was robbed twice by Spinks(boxing politics) and would have beaten Tyson if 8 years younger and no 2- year layoff/ but we'll never know. One of the best ever who ducked no one !!!###

    Ring years, Ali was old as shit. You don't go through those wars of Manila and Rumble in the Jungle without them taking a toll on you. He wasn't a normal 38 year old, Fighters lose something when they take beatings, it's the same reason why Meldrick Taylor was never the same after Chavez.

  • @kuriaki71
    @kuriaki71 12 років тому +1

    Ali was not old at 38 but he was sick.

  • @sodeepopkid6855

    He was ready mind and body when he fought Cooney. If he had been that ready in all his fights he would have been the greatest of all time. I could say the same about Muhammad Ali and Riddick Bowe. When these guys became champ they wanted to slack off and win on their name and/or reputation. They could win against most people doing this but it made them look bad.

    Would have loved to have seen a young Larry Holmes like in 1979, the Holmes that fought K. Norton Rip, E. Shavers........... that would have been some fight, Holmes had a jab that was like a jackhammer, Class act.

  • @chirovip58
    @chirovip58 6 років тому

    Larry learned from Ali: He could stick , move and his jab was incredible. Moreover, when he got hit then his heart and killer instinct went into overdrive to win.

    Nobody ever beat Larry decisively except Tyson and that was way after Larry's prime. The second Spinks fight Larry was ROBBED BLIND. And I say that as the world's greatest Michael Spinks fan. Spinks lost. Kenny Norton was robbed in the third Ali fight. Boxing is unjust to guys like Larry and Ken Norton.

      I'm just curious. How is 38 "way way" after someone's prime?

    • @SmoothLife.
      @SmoothLife. 5 днів тому

      @@Gameboy-Unboxingsboxing like many other sports, is a young man’s game. 38 is pretty old for boxing. Definitely past your physical peak. Not to mention an out of shape Holmes was nearing a 2 year lay off by the time he fought Tyson.

    38 is old as hell in boxing, especially way back then. Nowadays we know a lot more, have better training methods, real scientific shit.....back in the day 38 was pretty much a death sentence

    I like how you assume that because you didn't see a water by Mr. Holmes that we didn't offer him any. Wow, what a small way of thinking. Did you ever think that during the breaks we gave him water or he refused? Guess not. I will agree with you that Larry is a cool person but you don't seem like u r :(

    How did this comb over clown Sam Lesante, ever get a TV Show? Was this one of those 3am programs?
    I enjoyed Larry's hearing comment's, but the interviewer obviously had no clue about boxing or he would have prepared some more relevant questions for an ex Champ of that status.
    A bit embarrassing to the show.
