I came here because I am a fan of Larry Holmes but now I am also a fan of you Tony. Thank you so much, your amazing interview ability truly made my day and is inspiring.
+Tony Polito Tony I checked out your boxing record from down here in Australia and it says you won a fight by ko in Massachusetts on the 16 March 1942! Keep up the good work. Your interviews are the best I've seen.
+Scott 70 Hello Scott, thank you for watching, I appreciate your time. FYI, I haven'y boxed in a pro arena. I only boxed with Champ Floyd Patterson from 1991 to 1993. Thank you, Tony
Your opinion is shared among many. Chuck Wepner stated in his interview that "I was amazed in how Ali could box" Holmes had a very simple philosophy, avoid getting hit and that he did. Classy man, true man and still a champ. Thanks Jaaay!
Tony - I thoroughly enjoyed this interview. Larry Holmes is definitely on my list of the greatest of all time; definitely in the top 5 of the greatest-ever heavyweights! I wish the Champ well!
Big love to Larry, one of the best of all time heavyweights, never ducked anyone, courage of a lion and amazing skill and hand speed. 48-0 and 20 defences, so he didn’t fight Ali, Frasier or Foreman but neither did Tyson. He beat the best of his era what more can a guy do
Also....Holmes didnt lose a fight until 35yrs old...a close points loss to Michael Spinks. He also got upto win after maybe hardest punch landed in a championship bout when he defeated Ernie Shavers. Great interview of the champ.
I have never understood why Holmes thinks that he never got the credit. The man was the Champ for 7.5 years and was one of, if not the, best heavyweights of all time. That is a fact and everybody knows it.
True, during that span or 1978-1985, the media had not truly recognized Champion Holmes as the great boxing artist he was. Champ Holmes had a devastating jab and avoided getting hit to the face. He was unbelievable to watch and was on the better half of giving a beating rather than taking it. When he did take a beating he took it well the man had an incredible chin. It’s the media they wanted to see another Ali. In my opinion I feel that’s why Champ didn’t get what he deserved. He is simply the greatest boxer I ever seen.
You do some great boxing interviews the knowledge and respect is evident. No uploads for a couple years you gotta get back on the interviews! They're great and much appreciated
There is a lot to be said for a man who stays married to the same woman, a man who still has something to call his own at the end of the road. Larry Holmes had it all! Great great champion!!!
Larry Holmes is the true people's champion... In my lifetime he held the belt the longest with the most defenses... I think he was the greatest boxer ever
I love your interviews mister Polito! I'm a Larry Holmes fan since about 1978 and I always be, but that doesn't mean I always like what comes out of his month.
Larry Holmes.....Greatest of all time, bar none. He was a surgeon, dissected his opponent. Made them look stupid. Should've been multi time world champ but the "business" wasn't about to give him what he deserved!!!! Love Larry Holmes! The Best! Period.
Great interview Larry spoke a lot of truth .a boxer makes a trainer ,Angelo Dundee couldn't fight , Angel was good because Ali could fight if Ali couldn't fight Angelo wouldn't be any good, Love would he said about trainers, brilliant interview
Robert day..the trainer makes a fighter a boxer and correct his mistakes..make the boxer fit..make him used his jab good.used word of wisdom during fights ..when things are not going good..gives hom confidence..just like angelo Dundee did with Leonard you got six minutes..the words of wisdom he used curing Leonard fight with hearns..can say more.
Outstanding interview Tony a real good insight to Larry Holmes and his life and career! No superficial obvious questions that we are so tired of hearing posed to a boxer. Keep up the great work. Regards a new fan of your channel
One of the greatest left jabs ever and keeping distance and fighting off Angles Great feet fast hands And the ability to get up and finish the game.💯👊 Great family ❤️ values as well. Standards the man who can. The easten assassin.
You forgot to add Renaldo "Mr." Snipes to the ending credits of those challengers that knocked Larry Holmes down. I remember because I watched it live on ABC Friday, Nov. 6th 1981 when out of nowhere Snipes threw an overhand right and knocked Holmes down in the 7th Round (ala Shavers). Holmes had amazing recuperative powers to be able to withstand those big punches and still come back to win the matches that he was floored in. .... Championship heart!
They always talk about his jab which was indeed super fast und strong. But his right was even more impressive for a heavyweight because it came without premonition. All of a sudden BOOM
sometimes Holmes had a big mouth and said things people didn't want to here. But he was a great heavyweight champion and and really honest good guy. A true champion.
If you ever interview Mike Tyson please ask him about his split with Kevin Rooney and how it might have affected his career. I've never seen an interview with this question.
Mr.Polito I just just want you to know Sir Mr.Larry Holmes with truly The Real Greatest Heavyweight Champion In Ring History !!! Believe Amen !!!!!!!!!!!
Tony!!! I truly appreciate this man... Is there any other boxers you interview?? I just love the way you interview you get right down into it.. i seen big George and this one is there any more? I can't find any amd i just want to know for sure
+justin stevenson Hi Justin, I've interviewed Chuck Wepner and Gerry Cooney. I'm in the process of lining up Lennox Lewis at this time. Thank you for watching! Tony
Yeah.. The Assassin is #2 all time in my book. Ali is #1.. Mr. Holmes literally learned from the best and was able to execute what he learned into being in the top 2 % of all time.. he was a wonderful champion..
i love larry. one of my fav fighters. love his honesty. ive always felt he threw the tyson fight. listen to the corner in between round 3-4. they say "let it happen". larry comes out dancing on his toes. hands down. its was strange. its like he knew it was the last round. and it was. nobody ever mentions how suspicious that was, or asks him why he came out that way?
Be loved by most of the people or beat up a old Ali real bad and be hated by most. The choice was yours. Money talks, right, probably top ten best heavyweight champ tho. All them title defenses,so impressive.
Thank you for watching - I just spoke with Champ on 8/24/2017 - such a kind man. He had a few comments around the fight tonight. Great guy and a great fighter. - Thanks again - Tony
When Ali fought Foley he was practically unbeatable... he also would display good punching power. All attributes considered the only possible candidates to beat a prime ALI would be Marciano or Norton.
Holmes all time great heavy weight on any given day he could have beat prime ali louis etc...the jab the right cross the timing the heart he often gets over looked and under rated.
Larry Holmes never really got his recognition. I think it is the misfortune of following the most charismatic boxer heavyweight ever. On a boxing level, he was much more sound than Ali. Holmes was pull young pumps into deep water passed his 40s. Before Foreman was his old man thing, Larry Homes had already done that. The only difference between Holmes and Foreman is that Foreman had the fortune to run up against a blown up cruiserweight with a weak chin for the belt. Foreman had not for anyone else after that fight and knew his luck had run out.
Larry Holmes will always be my favorite heavyweight champion. His boxing style is just like his personality, he leads with a devastating jab!
I met Larry Holmes at his sports bar in Easton Pennsylvania several years ago! Great guy!
I agree, a great man! Thanks for watching.
as a huge larry holmes fan i appreciate this interview, thanks for asking questions regarding training regimen, etc
You're very welcome! Thank you for watching the clip. 2017 will bring more great boxers! Enjoy - Tony
I came here because I am a fan of Larry Holmes but now I am also a fan of you Tony. Thank you so much, your amazing interview ability truly made my day and is inspiring.
One of the best boxing interviews I have seen.

+Scott 70 Hello Scott, thank you for watching, I appreciate your time. FYI, I haven'y boxed in a pro arena. I only boxed with Champ Floyd Patterson from 1991 to 1993. Thank you, Tony
Larry fought young hungry contenders back to back again and again. Great title reign.
A true wonderful man and a pleasure to speak with. Thank you for watching. ~ Tony
Great interview with a great man Larry you are well respected and looked up to.
I loved this interview with my Favourite Heavyweight Champion In History , truly enjoyed it !!!
Your opinion is shared among many. Chuck Wepner stated in his interview that "I was amazed in how Ali could box" Holmes had a very simple philosophy, avoid getting hit and that he did. Classy man, true man and still a champ. Thanks Jaaay!

Big love to Larry, one of the best of all time heavyweights, never ducked anyone, courage of a lion and amazing skill and hand speed. 48-0 and 20 defences, so he didn’t fight Ali, Frasier or Foreman but neither did Tyson. He beat the best of his era what more can a guy do
He fought Ali
Herman Hodnett - People hate him for that
Herman Hodnett , =
And tyson
Great interview Tony..Larry is one off the all time greats!
thats was great......Larry is a gentleman and a great champ.......Godbless
Holmes definitely most underrated fighter in heavyweight history. Maybe the greatest ever.
Agree, underrated more than recognized for 20 defenses. Unreal, I'm not sure if we will see that again.
A gentleman as well!
Also....Holmes didnt lose a fight until 35yrs old...a close points loss to Michael Spinks.
He also got upto win after maybe hardest punch landed in a championship bout when he defeated Ernie Shavers. Great interview of the champ.

Larry Holmes deserves the greatest respect in my opinion. GOAT material period.
The most real expressive honest down to earth athlete in History so much Respect Larry from Paul little Holmes !!!
Criminally underappreciated.
Larry gets a like from me for getting up after that Shavers knock down

I love your interviews mister Polito! I'm a Larry Holmes fan since about 1978 and I always be, but that doesn't mean I always like what comes out of his month.
Thank you for watching, he was underrated and not given what was deserved.
your interviews are great, you deserve 172k subs
Larry Holmes.....Greatest of all time, bar none. He was a surgeon, dissected his opponent. Made them look stupid. Should've been multi time world champ but the "business" wasn't about to give him what he deserved!!!! Love Larry Holmes! The Best! Period.

Great interview Larry spoke a lot of truth .a boxer makes a trainer ,Angelo Dundee couldn't fight ,
Angel was good because Ali could fight if Ali couldn't fight Angelo wouldn't be any good,
Love would he said about trainers,
brilliant interview
Roberto Day well Dundee trained more than one world champion. I don't think it was only luck.
Hand and a Glove work together as the fit together as a trainer and the fighter.
Outstanding interview Tony a real good insight to Larry Holmes and his life and career! No superficial obvious questions that we are so tired of hearing posed to a boxer. Keep up the great work. Regards a new fan of your channel
Larry is smart.... imagine a boxer who hates debt.... sad story for so many boxers who wind up in debt and broke! God bless you
Such a rarity to watch a boxer this late in age with that many fights that still is very bright, good for him,big inspiration.
Yes, very true; Champ Holmes turns 66 today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! - Tony
The volume levels suck ass, but this was a great hour regardless.
One of the greatest left jabs ever and keeping distance and fighting off Angles

tony can you interview wilfredo gomez and flix trinidad?
They always talk about his jab which was indeed super fast und strong. But his right was even more impressive for a heavyweight because it came without premonition. All of a sudden BOOM
I love you mr Larry Holmes My favorite boxer of all time ❤️❤️😙💘💗❤️❤️❤️❤️❣️🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊
Great champion. He was the champion for many years. A testament of his fortitude and perseverance.

Excellence of a Interview
sometimes Holmes had a big mouth and said things people didn't want to here. But he was a great heavyweight champion and and really honest good guy. A true champion.
If you ever interview Mike Tyson please ask him about his split with Kevin Rooney and how it might have affected his career. I've never seen an interview with this question.
Bret Frankman I will soon and I will totally ask the champ that question.

Thank you very kind to say that.
What a class act, very humble man
A true champ .and a gentlman
Thank you for watching!
Larry Holmes is a legend but i disagree with him saying Foreman couldn't take a punch, he had one of the best chins in boxing
Pure boxer. A technician in the ring. Arguably the greatest.
What great a great man Brilliant Champion..
Thank you Robert for watching ~ Champ Holmes is a gem! ~ Thank you Tony
larry speaks his mind well done
Tony
Thanks!!! going to check them out .
That End Swell is the greatest thing ever made for swelling. Larry wrong about that. Can’t be using no piece of ice. 🤨
Larry is a good teacher, mentor adviser. A nice guy really. A believer in God.
Yeah.. The Assassin is #2 all time in my book. Ali is #1.. Mr. Holmes literally learned from the best and was able to execute what he learned into being in the top 2 % of all time.. he was a wonderful champion..
Would love to know what Larry honestly thinks about Wilder or Joshua..I think he would beat them both (on the same night)👍
Thank you for watching. I think you're right, Champ Holmes was a controlled boxer unlike what we see today.
dont be a silly boy
i love larry. one of my fav fighters. love his honesty. ive always felt he threw the tyson fight. listen to the corner in between round 3-4. they say "let it happen". larry comes out dancing on his toes. hands down. its was strange. its like he knew it was the last round. and it was. nobody ever mentions how suspicious that was, or asks him why he came out that way?
27:35 - Joe Louis AND Wladimir Klitschko.
In my opinion Holmes is the greatest heavyweight since Louis.
Best Larry homes 🏡
Is there any way to meet the champ?
He's always hanging out in restaurants he owns down in easton, PA go try to meet him
@@Ancient_Road I just saw your reply right now, thank you...
@@Ancient_Road I finally met him, man... it was awesome
His jab dude
Love it
Be loved by most of the people or beat up a old Ali real bad and be hated by most. The choice was yours. Money talks, right, probably top ten best heavyweight champ tho. All them title defenses,so impressive.
Lol it’s just so happens it’s in my living room a smaller version !
Larry you should become a trainer!
larry has a deadly left hook. easton assassin.
Thank you for watching - I just spoke with Champ on 8/24/2017 - such a kind man. He had a few comments around the fight tonight. Great guy and a great fighter. - Thanks again - Tony
Larry had the most underated 1 2 in boxing. No one talks about his right hand. It was very sharp.
I agree with Larry
Larry was the best..he could have beaten them all. Never got his due.....but hopefully he will over time.
I believe Larry is getting the respect he was due now and will continue to cement his place as a true legend as time moves on.
always watched larry holmes fighting 1980s a good heavyweight champion and a good jab leslie dodds
Larry Holmes was the greatest Heavyweight to ever walk the earth.
I think so, he's a great one! Thank you Eric.
Tony Polito You are more than welcome.
I'd say second best heavyweight....but yea he was GREAT.
I could name at least 5 heavyweights that could beat him.
Larry is a big guy
Earnie Shavers looks like a well built Steve Harvey. 😂
When Ali fought Foley he was practically unbeatable... he also would display good punching power. All attributes considered the only possible candidates to beat a prime ALI would be Marciano or Norton.
and they both would've been k.o.ed by Ali in his prime
One may have been stopped on cuts... the other (Norton) had the style to confuse and offset Ali.
Jimmy Young would have always given Ali problems.
+jim 02122 discount the Ali after the 4 yr forced layoff. we're talking prime Ali. That Muhammad destroys any of them as I said by Knock Out!!!!!!!
Holmes all time great heavy weight on any given day he could have beat prime ali louis etc...the jab the right cross the timing the heart he often gets over looked and under rated.
You spelt The Greatest’s name wrong!
Hard to beat Ali's beautiful jab but damn he comes close
Can you fix audio?
Larry Holmes never really got his recognition. I think it is the misfortune of following the most charismatic boxer heavyweight ever. On a boxing level, he was much more sound than Ali. Holmes was pull young pumps into deep water passed his 40s. Before Foreman was his old man thing, Larry Homes had already done that. for some reason i would have loved to see holmes vs coetzee
He was also floored by Reynaldo snipes
Ali had parkinsons disease when they fought and the medical officials let him fight anyway. He was ill when he fought spinks the first fight.
