After the game there were total strangers giving high fives and people hanging out their car windows honking horns and waving at people and people waving back. The next day everyone was walking down the street with a smile on their face.Let's see any politician bring people together that way with a speech.

By the way - WOW was this a special moment or what?! I am American, obviously - from California - but don't feel any ire or animosity whatsoever towards Canada, the best nation-neighbor ever. I don't know how *they* feel about us, but to me, we are basically the same people. "Sister nations." (I actually remember thinking that I would feel slightly bad if USA won the Gold Medal, being that hockey is Canada's national game, which we are thankful to enjoy - the game, and all their players - in so many US cities. Anyways, yeah, just a really awesome Olympics moment. If I remember correctly this was in Salt Lake City.

Top 4 most important goals in Canadian Hockey History, in order of importance:
    1. Summit Series, Henderson, 1972.
    2. Crosby, Olympics, 2010.
    3. Bossy, 1984, Semi-Final overtime against Russia.
    4. Lemieux, 1987, against Russia.
Crosby's goal wasn't as big as Henderson's, but to Canadian fans, can you imagine had U.S.A. won that game? We'd be watching "Miracle on Ice Part II" at theaters this Christmas, and puking up our eggnog while doing it.

1972 Summit Series - need I say anything that hasn't already been said?
1987 Canada Cup - Gretzsky to Lemieux, need I say more?
Vancouver 2010 - our record-breaking 14th Gold in the sport us Canadians know and love, proving that hockey is OUR game, with the goal being scored by Crosby, arguably Canada's top player.

@raran44 I see what you're saying, but in 1972, it was understood that the only two superpowers of hockey was Canada and Russia. Whoever won that series was the best in the world. Neither Canada nor Russia needed to destroy the Finns, Swedes, or Americans to be crowned. Today's it's more competitive because hockey does better in those nations, but back in '72, to determine the best in the world, all you had to do was have a Canada/Russia series.
