Glad I got to see the rise of Matt Rempe in my first year of watching Hockey and the Rangers. Definitely a wild season and I’m seriously wondering why I never seriously watched hockey before.
There isn't a more exciting sport in the world. The skill, toughness, how hard it is to win the Cup/what teams have to endure to hoist it, the Cup itself is the most storied trophy in the world and even the SOUNDS of the game is addicting. I think the only reason it isn't as popular in America as it should be is only because of how inaccessible it is to play for most kids. If more people were able to play it'd be far more popular. It's much easier for most kids to get into a sport if they have played or can play it themselves. Unfortunately in America it just isn't that way. How many basketball courts do we have in just a couple mile radius? Alot. How many teams are there and how cheap is it for a kid to play football? Many teams and it's usually very cheap. I WISH hockey was this way as well...
“Rise of Matt Rempe” he’ll barely sniff the ice next season, he’s a hired gun, and not in a good way. Hired guns are supposed to be depth scorers and grinders who help teams advance in the playoffs. Rempe just tries to hit people, and usually fails. He got leveled by a couple of panthers just by not knowing what to do. Dude is a total clown, it’s a shame too cause if he actually tried to play and got better he could’ve been something special
@@zachlesk5685 Just say Matt Rempe could easily beat up your favorite player and move on lol. No reason to be insecure and complain in the comments about him.
@zachlesk5685 Buddy….i gotta be honest, out of all the takes I’ve heard on Matt Rempe, yours is hands down the worst by far. Rempe is reminiscent of a better more entertaining time in hockey and if the kid can develop some skills and improve his fighting, he’ll be the number 1 selling jersey within 3 years. He’s going to be a physical monster this season, NY knows what they have, they aren’t gonna let him go, he’s a generational tough guy, players like this don’t come around as often as people act like.
@@jeffreycairns767 kid was one of the fastest players on the ice at camp this year. He is more than just a tough guy. If he was on any other team than the Rangers, he would see much more ice time. As a Rangers fan, hopefully they send him down to Hartford to let him develop. The Rangers dont run their 4th line nearly as much as most teams do, so hes not going to get the ice time he deserves IMO.
@@RPierce84 He definitely needs to develop. Being fast or tough will not win games, especially without alot of skill. If this was Anaheim or SJ, he might have enough skill, but this is the Rangers.
@@jeffreycairns767 I agree. But to say he isn't skillful is a short sided take IMO. I just used speed as one example. We watched his line countless times last year take the puck into the O zone and keep it there the entire shift, followed by a goal from the next shift. That isn't a coincidence.
I was at game 1 against washington this past postseason (actually wearing a rempe jersey). We chanted his name every time he touched the puck, and when he opened the scoring, that place went wilder than you could imagine. He's had some elite company this offseason, training with laroque to get better at fighting, training with kreider to get better at skating and his overall play, and hes also living with johnathan quick. he cleans up his game a bit and he can be a menace in the league for years to come (the hit on Bastian was questionable, looked as bad as it was just because of his size and the fact that he had his head down, bent over the puck, but the hit on Siegenthaler was definitely dirty) Say what you want about his play, but damn does the garden love him, and im here for every minute of rempe-mania
Rempe had a similar impact on the Rangers as peak Sean Avery did with regards to the fun antics and fights. Avery just happened to also be a pretty good player too.
It's insane their honor towards their opponents. No sticks no eye gouging. Yes there are PLENTY OF PUNCHES TO BACK OF THE HEAD BUT THEIR DEFENSE ON THE ICE ESSENTIALLY ENTAILS TURNING HEAD AWAY FROM PUNCHES WHILE HOLDING OPPONENTS ARMS AT DISTANCE TO SET UP THE COUNTER.
Delaughier vs Rempe was a straight up nail biter. No losers in that fight. Difficult to call it really. Draw. But a lot of bone-jarring punches exchanged that would've killed the average man. Lol
@@edited1325 The only thing Rempe has over any of the experience fighters is age. The older guys are a little slower but have proven themselves as heavy weights. A Rempe win means nothing.
Do they? Did the Rangers make it to the finals with him? Did Florida or Oilers have a "goon" to get to the finals or win the Cup? Me, I would rather spend the money on a player that can out up points rather sit in the penalty box.

I'm a leafs fan so I like Reaves, but I'm also a fan of rempe. I believe rempe has been training with Georges laraque this off-season, so I expect him to be a beast this season
An older fighter vs a young one? Rempe has the upper hand but regardless of who wins a fight, the league is moving away from these types of players. Both can fight but are all but useless otherwise
If he keeps fighting like this, he will get destroyed, he can't hit properly or avoid a punch properly, all he has is his size, yet it is his size that will hinder him. He is too slow and cumbersome and he is playing a dangerous game. Unfortunately, all these armchair warriors who think this is all cool, will watch this kid end his career from too many hits to the head (concussions). He is also running a HUGE risk of getting hit really good, being checked in on the snooze cruise before even hitting the ice and possibly smacking the back of his bare head on the ice as he falls down. Every hockey player's dream. End of career or even worse.
