@speedbird9314 back in 2010 it was yeah. Not too sure if Roger's Arena still uses the same horn, haven't been to a game in years and you can't really hear it when watching on TV.
If there was EVER a debate for a hockey podcast, it would be the debate of the ‘02, ‘10 and ‘14 teams. Which one was better? 1 was faced with IMPOSSIBLE odds and expectations and may have been the most balanced, 1 was the most offensively dominant, 1 was the most defensively dominant. I’m gonna lob that grenade in here and happily await the responses 😁
The trifecta, 3 times for 3 generations when we all stopped together, as a country. ‘72 set the standard. It was the first REAL tournament, the first REAL moment. You never forget the first time. ‘87 was the best final series - also for the for the last time - which also just happened to have the 2 best players to ever play the game, on the same team, on the same line, when it was ALL on the line. ‘10 in overtime, at home, on the worlds biggest stage. 3 consecutive generations. 3 immortal moments, each that will live in the souls of the country forever.
The gold medal game was an all-time great, but I tell you the atmosphere for the QF against Russia was the most intense and loud building I've ever heard in my life... I can watch that 1st period over and over again and still get goosebumps
That Olympic hockey tournament in Vancouver was probably the best International Best-On-Best tournament I've seen. Every game & I mean EVERY game in that tournament was a must-see event. Team Canada & Team USA obviously had the most attention on them, but even the rest of the teams in that tournament brought their best as well. I know there's older fans who will say the '87 Canada Cup was the greatest International tournament ever & they're allowed to say that, no questions asked. For me, it was 2010 in Vancouver, on the Olympic stage, there's no bigger stage in International competition if you ask me. Millions of people around the world are watching whenever the Olympic Games come around so a lot of eyeballs are on the competition & this tournament was right up there with being one of the most-watched tournaments in International play. So fitting that Canada & USA played for the Gold, they were also the top two countries throughout the Olympic Games that whole two weeks, it really felt as if the North American rivalry was really playing out all through that two weeks in Vancouver. And it all came down to the Gold Medal game to decide who really was the best country in those 2010 Games. Both teams played amazing. The USA literally had a real opportunity to win Gold & break the hearts of fans across Canada on that day....but then No. 87, who had a relatively quiet tournament finally came up big in the BIGGEST moment possible. What a moment indeed.
Is this the last time we were all truly together as Canadians? Really looking forward to NHL players being allowed to go back to the Olympics! Going to be amazing.
Canada had to hang on for dear life in that game, the Slovaks narrowly came close to a stunning comeback that could have spoiled everything for Team Canada. Fortunately Canada got the win and then we know what happened just a couple days later. 🙂
Really too bad Captain Canada (Ryan Smyth) wasn’t on this team but this team was SO STACKED I don’t know who you would take out that’s the problem. Also excluding Crosby but low key Iginla and Nash I think were Canada”s best players it seems to me. 2026 team is going to be very interesting!
Iginla got the majority of his points vs the bottom feeders. Toews was selected the best forward of the tournament. Scored a point in every game, was on the ice for only one goal against even though he was the primary penalty killer.
Did you know, the Canadian and the American goaltenders; Roberto Lungo and Ryan Miller both played for the same hockey club, the Vancouver Canucks, while the Olympics were held in Vancouver
No. They never played together on the Canucks. Miller played for the Canucks after Luongo left the team. During the Olympics, Miller was the starting goaltender for Buffalo.
For real. If Canada made a second team after making the best first roster they could, their second team would probably be the second best team in the tournament.
crosby to iginla to start the olympic journey... iginla to crosby to finish it. Best 2 weeks of my life. Thank you to our athletes!
Wow, I was 15 seconds in and about to say the same thing! :D
@@MichaelStandcumbe wtf i was thinking the same. cacaca
That goal horn is frickin amazing. Love that.
It's the Canucks horn in the NHL.
Belongs to the best team in the NHL, the Vancouver Canucks. Its the horn on the BC Ferries.
@@IanStrain23328 is it actually the same horn that BC ferries use? That’s so cool
@speedbird9314 back in 2010 it was yeah. Not too sure if Roger's Arena still uses the same horn, haven't been to a game in years and you can't really hear it when watching on TV.
Back when slap shots were common. Oh man that Heatley clap bomb, what a time
That Canada team was stacked boyyyyy Sidney Crosby,Jerome Ignila,Roberto Luongo. It’s stacked.
This team was comically stacked. Can’t wait for the 2026 Olympics now that NHL players will be allowed to play!!
They didn't mess around making this team after the disappointment in 2006.
2002 team was insanely stacked as well lol
Best Canadian olympic team of all-time.
IMO Sochi 2014 Team Canada was better
@@nhlvan 2014 was defensively better

So true
That Russia game was insane - IMO the greatest single game of hockey ever played by a team at this level.
Putting Crosbys line out against Norway with 2 mins left up 7-0 should have been a War crime.
A Canadian tradition.
It’s not a war crime the first time.
It’s crazy how the first goal is Iginla from Crosby and then final goal is Crosby from Iglina 😅
Crosby calling out IGGY!!!! At 12:08 , pure magic! What a time this was.
Thought I heard ginny
@AlexB-n7l he's a Harry potter fan

the goal at 1:52 is pure magic. from keith's soft sauce in the neutral zone to nash's backdoor feed to iggy... just poetry.
Igi was a beast with Team Canada, should be in Hall of Fame soon.
He was inducted years ago. He was indeed a beast!
What a stacked team we had for Canada at the 2010 winter Olympics
I’m so proud as a Canadian that I could witness this, our school turned the big game on. We all remember that shot for gold 🥹🇨🇦🥇
That ot winner never gets old, still gives me goosebumps
Team Canada's roster is legit deeper and better than All-Star teams, crazy.
Lifesaver. Been wanting to watch highlights on this Olympic Games. Especially Team 🇨🇦
I still remember watching the finals and the golden goal to this day. My generations version of Hendersons 72 Summit Series goal.

You obviously weren't around for the '72 Summit Series, the greatest hockey tournament of all time.
Look how young they are! Hahah go Canada!
gotta be rough playing against canada in canada while playing canada's sport haha
That Russia game was probably the most complete and dominating performance I’ve ever seen.
Being born in 2010 and Canadian makes me have to play hockey
12:07
Where were you?
Best. Olympics. Ever.
What an absolutely stacked team. I don't know if we will see another team like this.
Is this the last time we were all truly together as Canadians? Really looking forward to NHL players being allowed to go back to the Olympics! Going to be amazing.
I wonder how much 2026 will do for national unity. NHLers back in the olympics, hosting a world cup with far and away our best ever team.
Canada Slovakia the end was the most exciting i have ever seen
Damn this team was absolutely STACKED
Wow. I thought - meh - something to pass the time - such a big smile when Crosby scored!
This team is mental!! Even more upsetting now that we haven't had McDavid and MacKinnon winning some golds...
I know most people don't like him, but I think Corey Perry is a hall of famer.
by far the best jersey we ever had. I wish they went back to it.
Hell yes. Most Canadian jersey ever. It should be the Olympic default like USA’s lake placid jerseys.
Thank you.
1. Joe Thornton
2. Jarome Iginla
3. Sidney Crosby
4. Dany Heatley
5. Jonathan Toews
6. Patrice Bergeron
7. Mike Richards
8. Ryan Getzlaf
9. Eric Staal
10. Scott Niedermayer
11. Chris Pronger
12. Dan Boyle
13. Drew Doughty
14. Duncan Keith
15. Shea Weber
16. Roberto Luongo
17. Martin Brodeur
LOADED AFFFFFFFF
Many people don't realize that if Demitra didn't miss the empty net in the semis, the ''golden goal'' would have never happened

didn't luongo save that one?
@@EzIsaacs92 yes luongo got a piece of that. RIP Demitra...
Back when Olympic hockey mattered. Miss this shit
Man I completely forgot Heatley was on this team. What a beauty
If Iginla had a good consistent centre in Calgary he would be top 10 for goals all time no doubt.
Calgarys drafting during his prime was horrendous
Jesus what a team. I forgot how good the Thornton Marleau heatley line was
thanks betman for removing the olympics from hockey for 10 years.
the offensive depth of this team was nuts.
Game beautiful 🇫🇮
Electrifying moment
Toews was most consistent all series of games, and he was only 21.
who was better? canadas gold medal winning team in 2010....or canadas gold medal winning team in 2014?
Crazy how most of the Canada team will be in the HOF one day
12:09 “IGGY IGGY!”
Everyone talks about the Sid goal but man that pass from iggy with a player on him and on his knees
Heatly was like the first one to fall off from this team. wonder what happened to him
Pure aura
Did Canada hate Norway or something? That first game jesus...
Canada before you know who!

For real. If Canada made a second team after making the best first roster they could, their second team would probably be the second best team in the tournament.
No chance
honestly the yankees should just be proud they lost by 1 lol
