    I think you did a great job at portraying the story. It made sense on Jagex’s side to check things out and report him to authorities, but it was totally the political climate at the time to “beat school shooters” which totally influenced this case. It’s too bad so much of his life was spent in prison so the justice system could chalk up a victory vs the hundreds of lives lost.

    • @turkey4957

      It was to chalk up a victory it was to send a message that you cannot say shit like you’re going to shoot up your school without serious consequences, I don’t support him getting the time he did at all but it’s not to “chalk up a victory” it’s to set a precedent

    • @arstulex
      @arstulex 3 роки тому +1

      @@turkey4957 Except that 'precedent' was dropped not long after. It's in the video. It no longer became a crime to send threats if there is no intent behind them.
      It was absolutely about trying make themselves look good. Every government does it.
      They could have done the investigation, realised there was no validity behind the threats and said "We did our due diligence for the public and he's fine", but that wasn't good enough for them. They pulled every trick in the book to get him in prison so that they would look like they were effectively tackling what is still a major issue in the US today.

Every 10 minutes or so there would be a new chapter, but just as the story was reaching its climax he stopped writing. Do Not Talk Or Offer Any Information regardless if you committed an offense or not. Let your legal counsel speak for you. They'll be thankful you kept quiet and you will be to. You have the right to remain silent. It's a shame when people get fucked over by the system. I'm glad he's such a positive happy person and father after all he went through. Travesties like this can't keep happening. I'm not getting political in this just feel for a guy that got fucked over. This was a great documentary and will shine some light how we need to fix some things and I'm not saying dedund the police and have peaceful riots. (Sorry got a little political, but we all can't act like nothing happening and not say anything, we just need to fix the problems.) Well, eitherway great job on the documentary and my only problem was I wish it was longer cause it was really good. I hope you continue to make documentaries. You got a like and sub. Shout out for Josh going through a long sentence and not coming out insane, but better.

    As an aside, something you have to understand about the media in the United States is that everything is a school shooting according to them. It doesn't matter if there was no actual gunmen and no actual gun, they'll still call it at school shooting. And I'm 100% serious. There was one random case a few years ago where a stray bullet from an unknown location just happened to hit the side of a school building. There was no gunman on site, there was no gun on site, no one was hurt or killed. But because it happened to be a school building, the media called it a school shooting. Don't take this shit seriously. It's all about ratings.

    Six years is ridiculous, but it was beyond stupid to go into specifics about what youre going to get to shoot up a school. At a time like that he was just asking to get in trouble. Then he thought he could only get 7 months so he decided to taunt the judge? 6 years was too harsh, but he didn't make it any easier on himself. He got 6 years because his ego was so fragile he needed to stroke it in front of the judge.
