We are starting new segment called ARM WRESTLING FAQ or frequently asked questions. Every day we receive questions and messages asking: "Is it normal that my arms or elbows hurt for a week after arm wrestling?" So we made a video for beginners and maybe even advanced level armwrestlers. wanted to make it short somehow got really deep into all of this.

It's a very important topic and I would recommend you guys to do more videos on this something like recovery for a beginner video, recovery for a amateur and recovery for a national level. And structure the content by organizing it into sections of exercise, medication, diet etc.
Just a humble suggestion
Nice suggestion.
You literally just changed my life. 🙏🏻 all these years I’ve never known there was a cure to this. It’s game on now. So excited!
and what is that cure?
7 week and i cant use my arm from elbow pain@@zeta9028
Thanks for everything guys. İ love you.
👍🏻💪🏻❤️
I was learning to drive when I started. That first lesson after my first AW session was not fun. I didn't want to look like it hurt, so I did my best to keep a straight face each time I forced a gear change. I'm only glad that I don't do a manual labour job in between sessions! I know that a lot of armwrestlers are in those kinds of jobs.
I love that Janis is not only using his experience as an arm wrestler but also as a physiotherapist when sharing his knowledge. You guys I think are pushing the community forward in such a huge way.
Thanks! :)
Does Janis have any matches coming up I love seeing him pull?
Nothing scheduled
Thanks Janis and Ray for another useful video.
You are welcome Benjamin
Joint pain when starting armwresting training is inevitable..its so different than bbing or any other training. The key is getting the exact form just right. Doing preacher bench 'hook training' type stuff will destroy the elbows in my experience
👍🏻
Are you talking about the dumbell lift like Larrat?
@@gencademi9362 I believe he is, yes
Is destroying it a good thing? Will it grow stronger afterwards?
Only if you don't keep everything in line at all times and very tight to your body. As long as you're ADDING the other assets at the same time to assist, you won't destroy them, unless you're going to fast for what your muscle are tuned to, or if you have inherent pain for genetic reasons.
How long it takes to build tendons in order to feel no pain?
It take motnhs sometimes years. And you will feel them after every hard pull.
I was about to ask that question too.
MR SLAV My favorite UA-camr is into arm wrestling?! Damn
Dang its mr slav

ive noticed i only just started arm wrestling with left arm and i have armwrestled a few months with right arm and my left takes atleast 2-3 more days to recover compared to right its just a time thing
In 2006 I was 12 years old.
I was training from 2006 to 2010, not specifically for arm wrestling, you can say overall gym but sometimes arm wrestling too. I could hang by one arm and manage to pain control, six-packs appeared also. After 2010 I could not train. But after lockdown, I have started again. But I have noticed I have lost many things that I achieved in past. But I want to regain it. I love this sport, you guys help me a lot
You lost a lot in 9 years?
9/10 years without any training? I suppose you lost all your gains, strength or muscle size or tendons, etc.

Hey guys love the channel definitely some great info I've been training for about 5 months and I'm still getting some elbow pain I'm trying to cut back on my frequency of training it's kind of hard to though cuz every time I get in the gym I just want to arm wrestle or do something that simulates arm wrestling it's too much a bad thing
I armwrestled for the first time last Wednesday. Today is Saturday and I'm feeling quite good. I didn't have much pain either. Maybe it's because I did a lot of armwrestling exercises for forearms and wrists prior.
Yes, Thats because You have better prepared Your arms for upcoming loads. - Janis
Good video 👍

I used to drink straight up flax seed oil. No idea if it actually worked, but after having horrible elbow pain for 6 months straight, after 3 weeks of drinking that stuff it went away.
I got cracking sound in my elbow while arm wrestling. Took more than a month to start feeling well enough to start wrestling again.

Coach Ray looking beefy😀 did you find peaking for your push-pull contest transfer to usable strength on the table?
Well I feel Im in the best form ever dont know how much push and pull contributes to that
You don't last as long as you have, in any sport, by training stupidly! So.. don't train harder until you're used to the current workload? And don't hit a max effort too often! It took me 20 years to figure that out! You've just told everyone, two of the three most useful theories in strength sports! I hope they appreciate it!
Hope they do! Thanks
9:17 exactly
12 years in this sport and I still deal with it bad.
Hey Coach Ray and Janis! Hope you guys are doing well and congratulations on your respective victories in Arizona. I have recently started active table practice and feel exteme pain after 2-3 good pulls in the exact area where Ray clutches his arm @10:46 in this video. So much so that my arm starts shaking and i can't close my fist. The pain remains, but subsides enough to have 3-4 easy pulls after but nothing more than that. Is this also normal? I mean pain after training i understand but during the training itself it hinders me from applying even 90% of my effort. I should also mention that, that area has been my problem before armwrestling too. Heavy benching and throwing movements used to cause extreme pain in it. Have consulted doctor and they said it's just vitamin deficiencies built over years and i take Vit. B12 and Vit D supplements. Will my tolerance in that area get better as i practice more? Also, i have no elbow pain no matter how hard I go. That area is what causes the trouble. Basically the point where your arm opens up. Bicep and forearm connecting point.
This started happening to me after an intense arm wrestling match
2 months.
That's the time for my right arm to recovery after a winning match.
While matching i did't feel pain but the day after was unable to close my hand.
Eco in Hospital revealed a bad injury.
Medic told me "if you don't Stop for i minimum of 1 month it will go really bad situation for your arm).
Well.
2 long months for recovery.
what about your elbow now? Has he fully recovered? and during those 2 months, what did you do to recover your elbow?
Hey I’m a powerlifter and I arm wrestled some guys a while ago. My elbow feels very uneasy when I squat and benching it had hindred my overall training for a week now. Is it okay to just train thru this in combination with some recovery and strengthening drills or should I take a deload week and wait till the pain is over. Offcourse I prefer the first one.
Thank you
You're welcome
Yesterday i played arm wrestling with my friend. And my elbow is paining when bending and also i not able to play arm wrestling again because it is pain if i play. How long does it take to heal on its own? The pain is mild not severe. Is it serious or nothing to worry? Please reply and clear my doubts. I am very scared of it.
Thank you for your help ❤tips
I hope Janis or Raimonds will read this.. I have unbelievable pain in my left arm if I armwrestle 1-2 rounds for a whole week... how did this happen
so I armwrestle practice once a week for about 2 hours, but the next day I tried again against a guy who I had no opportunity to pull again and I gave it my all on my left hand
He just held me and I tried with all my power (like opening a stuck mason jar when you use all your force) and after that my hand hurt like hell
I couldn't sleep that night from the pain, I woke up in the middle of the night, and the pain didn't stop for more than a week
Then after the pain was gone I pulled once again on left, but I felt the immense pain only after 3 practice pulls that didn't last more than 5 seconds and again the pain lasted for a week and it was unbearable pain. I wanted to amputate my arm, I felt as if my arm will fall off my body. And commited to not pull on left for along time. Then I pulled again after more than 40days - and only 2 times (less than 10seconds combined of armwrestling) and again the same story I had immense pain for days, it subsided after a week..
I can move and lift weights with my left arm, and i never feel pain anywhere now, but I know that if pull it will hurt for days again, unlike my right arm.
Do you know the reason for this?
BlackPaw I’m not a doctor, but I’ve heard that sometimes it has to do with your posture. If your shoulders are always locked forward, you tendons will always be tight. Try pulling your shoulders back, and keep your posture straight. This will actually reduce the stress on your tendons... and you should be able to let them heal 100%
Curious, will I always have the clicking in my elbow? Is it broken pieces of cartilage by chance? How common is it? Not much information on clicks...
If it dont hurt it fines. My Shoulder click too but i dont feel any pain so its fine. If you got pain from it backup a little bit
It is mostly likely the tendons rolling/shifting over the bones
when I arm wrestle I have gotten tendon pain after I used the move where you use the triceps tendons and the muscle to push down the opponent´s arm.
Same bro. Does it still hurt after hand wrestling?
Lets say i have done some heavy training on table and feel the pain ( not an injury pain but pain for going too hard)...like you said i should do 1/2days rest until thr pain gets away...than do some light weight exercices to get blood in those points (doing that for 2 days i hope ???) Thats 4 days... would like to know when i'll be able to do heavy training with weights to get stronger before i get to the next table session...i would take more than a week or so before next table session ?....or maybe as a beginer(5 months in) i should only focus on table for now
What do you do if you got golfers and tennis elbow in both elbows?
What they mean is dont go 100% right away start out pulling light . You do not have to try to beat your partner just use each other to create resistance. And work slow over a long period of time. Devon larrat just did a video explaining he never trains heavy or at 100% he does middle of the road work over a long period of time and builds up slow.
the thing i dont understand is that when i arm wrestle, my arm joint only ends up hurting on my right arm, not my left, but im right handed so shouldn't that mean my right arm is stronger and my left arm should be the one that hurts?
I'm training my forearms 3x a week, what would be the 3 things you'd recommend to be able to keep going hard.
@Rob Sous Cut to two ..
@@Alex-1750 depends on the intensity and volume.
I think frequency is key.
If forearms and hands are something you are trying to focus and improve, I think up to 4 times per week isnt crazy.
To keep going hard every workout, I would say always vary intensity. Do a near one rep max one workout; the next time out, do a 20 rep max instead, next time out do maximum speed for 5 reps, and so on.
And vary exercise selection.
And write it All down so you can track results, improve, and give yourself a target for that session.
@Jason Voorhees forearms work every time you hit the gym.
Back ..forearms work biceps...forearms work
Chest..they get some load.
So plus 3 times separate it’s enormous.
(Let alone table practice)
Armwrestlers work them (very intense) once max twice a week
But everyone is different that’s just my armwrestling experience
stick to the 4 pillars: supinating, pronating, cupping, and rising
Toddzillas program (which Ryan Bowen has been demonstrating on his channel for months) really helps recover from, and prevent injury. Same with Michael Todd's. They do enough volume days to keep blood flow in the area and repair is almost instantaneous. Once you get used to it, you will have virtually no elbow pain anymore. I know I don't! I can be at the table red-lining for hours now and only feel a pump.
Could you elaborate? Say you go hard on armwrestling table once a week. How often should I do light lifts in between?
Coachy is best❤❤❤ love from pakistan
The outside of my elbow to my shoulder and in some extreme cases down to my fingers has been hurting.
try to massage your brachialis and tricep tendon
One thing I’ve found is balance, very strong flexors and weak extensors will cause elbow pain. It’s important to train all functions of the forearm even if they are not specific to arm wrestling for the benefit of health, these are mostly weak extensors and weak rear deltoids.
its been 15 days and my elbow still hurt
Does it still hurt?
@@kheelesh_7274 no it's fine now. my recovery is about 1 month, during the recovery i still lift light weight
How tou recover your elbow pain
Hi Ray.. stay strong.. And kove arm res..... 😂🤣😂😂😂🤣
So it normal that it hurts on the side in the chest side it started to hurt when i did a arm wrestling
I think the word you guys were looking for was incrementally.
Thanks! Nice vid!!!
It s something strange, i train for skandenberg, pretty intense, and if i force my self in a match my elbow will hurt for like w hours, but like really bad, even to drive a car and change gears, and after 2 hours it s not hurting anymore, what it means?
Idk how but I’ve been armwrestling for almost a year now, going hard against much stronger guys than me during practise every week. But I’ve never had any pain in my elbow the day after. I will have some pain in the bicep tendon sometimes but never the elbow. I’m I alone in having this experience?
Hey I just hopped into a tournament 10 months ago and couldn’t throw a tennis ball for 4 months but the pain went away, I’ve recently started training for arm wrestling and elbow pain is popping up again. Am I seriously injured?
I hope not, pain is normal, you just need to schedule you table practice with enough time to recover, maybe 1 every 2-3 weeks.
I started Armwrestling in February of this year, at a practice in mid April I really made my wrist sore (had to take ibuprofen during the night to be able to sleep for a few days), I have continued to train, stretch twice a day, took 2 one week breaks and 1 two week, I’m considering now maybe taking a three week deload at 50% for strap pronation and supination, those exercises seem to cause the most irritation. Sorry so long, I would appreciate any thoughts
Continue what you are doing use weight and exercises that cause no pain. You are on right track deload is great
Can you do a video about why bones in the forearm (seems to be the ulna bone) hurt after inside armwrestling and bicep curls?
the first month i trained for armwrestling that bone hurts aswell, hitting it on anything feels like instant death, after some time your bone probably get's more dense and it'll just stope (but don't overtrain)
It's not the bone its bruising on the skin from the lressure there. If u pull hard enough it xomes in a large dark bruise there
Guys! Please tell this to Jujimufu! I’d hate to see him stop arm wrestling because of his tendinitis.
My wrist hurts after armwrestling sometimes for days
Question what is your opponent jumps in the air an puts there total body weight on forearm forcing. Arm over an severely damageing elbow ? I could ever throw a baseball again . This injury happened a long time ago it would swell an turn black with severe pain that over time has gotten even worse . It affects the finger so my hand little finger to the middle finger . I have very limited strength in the hand and numbness were i cant feel objects N drop the. Or burn blisters. On fingers I can’t srreach a rubber and even if small . I’m very poor but should I incest a doctor look at this ? It all hurts a lot . I do not think I can handle the pain much longer .
One little question. I am armwrestling for 3 years semi-professionally (currently Nr. 2 in Germany 70 kg under 21-class). While practicing with my brother I heard a loud pop in my elbow (my fault, I overdid with sidepressure in bad position). I don't feel any pain performing "normal" movements, just a little bit when touching the inner side of my elbow and while doing side pressure (inside rotation) I can do Pull and Pushups without any pain as well as all the wrist stuff (Supination Pronation flexion etc). Could it be that a specific tendon is inflamed? How long will it take to recover, should I continue doing all exercises where I don't feel pain?
I also heard a pop or crack sound while I was arm wrestling in a bad position but nothing seems to be wrong
Same thing happened to me, I’ve had pain in my inner elbow for 3weeks now , but only when doing arm wrestling movement, bench press and pull-ups i can also do with no pain. I haven’t done any light weight therapy workouts for my elbow which I’m sure will help for quicker recovery. Hope you get better bro!
that happens to me now, do you solve it? :(

It is sore when i put any side pressure on the hand or put pressure on the to bottom fingers. What might have happened and what should I do? You guys are providing answers and not asking the right questions. A good start is to ask WHY the elbow pain in the first place and WHAT is the purpose of pain as a signal? I see in the comments section several pullers sharing their experience of hearing a popping noise as they pull but are mystified as to what is occurring. This is a warning sign that is being ignored when it should be explained. There's many, many world class arm wrestlers but many of these do not understand muscle tendon physiology, anatomy, joint biomechanics, etc. but yet they are conducting AW,ing seminars and spreading misinformation ( not intentionally but out of ignorance) Lots of misinformation out there that keeps getting repeated and the SAME problems are still being experienced over and over. My advice is to question everything and seek out legit information regarding the above mentioned. A great start would be to listen to ANYTHING Dr. Andrew Huberman has to share in his podcasts. Here you WILL hear the correct questions and get the answers to the questions all pullers should be asking. Peace...
