I was raised on a mixed farm so, when hearing my first teachers talk about all the Disneyesque farm animals, I experienced a sort of "WTF is she talking about" moment. Actually not "WTF" because I didn't know the expression though I'd seen a fair bit of it. Animals generally go for anything. I resigned myself to being jaded too soon. I mean, lambs tended to keel over and just die for no apparent reason and that Sunday chicken dinner you were hand feeding a few days earlier. It can take a while to make the connections.

The baby koala does not produce the enzyme necessary to neutralize the toxin in the eucalyptus leaves. It gets it from the mother's fecal pap. Once it eats the pap the enzyme will proliferate in its gut making it safe to start eating the leaves. Without that enzyme eating the leaves would be fatal.

Pandas have no predetors, they where fine with NATURAL selection, the problem is that humans are screwing up their habitat, so they are in danger not from natural selection, but from humans.
