"There is no happiness without meeting our responsibilities." That's sublime
yeah, but be careful of what is a true responsibility and what is not. that statement is too shallow if not followed by a clear description of what is responsibility. Just don't let other people determine what responsibility is and most definitely question the standards you have now for what is your responsibility and what is not because to tell you the truth we learn and suck in all that toxic shit our parents and society feed us while we are growing up and in the end we get INCREDIBLE cognitive distortions(which is simply false knowledge that seem absolutely true) that lead to distorted and harmful actions(and a lot of other harmful shit).
It is sublime! You’re absolutely right. I listened to this about five days ago while I was driving, and it brought me to tears. It was exactly what I needed to hear for my life right now. The wisdom pouring out of Ethan’s mouth completely floored me. I haven’t stopped thinking about what he said, and I just searched for this again. I am pretty positive that he has summed up the meaning of life.
Bradley Nowell
right that's why he cheated on his wife and destroyed her self esteem
@@latrolettteeeeeeeI hear you but you can be an imperfect human with imperfect moments and huge mistakes and still have something valid to say
"I thought being an adult was going to be easier than it is." No truer words we can all relate to.
Do I see a little open-mouthed amazement in the face of that interviewer? He's genuinely fascinated by Hawke's eloquence... I am too.
Love Ethan Hawke. I think he hasn't gotten the accolades he should have as an actor, who I think is elite. However, I think he is at peace with where his acting career has gone and where he is in his life!
So true! He's a solid actor
This man is a wealth of knowledge, but in a cool down to earth humanistic way and I absolutely love that.
This is outstanding. He's always a brilliant interview with sharp and focused conversation. He really makes you FEEL what he's saying
I somehow needed these words this morning as I am heading for work.
Been struggling with certain things but I"ll hold onto the wise old man's words that in doing so I maybe onto something
Good luck with everything, buddy! 😀 Be strong!
If Julie Delpy was there instead of Sam Jones, It’d be like a conversation between Jesse and Celine. ❤️🥺
Still my favourite episode of the show, I'd love to see Ethan back (as soon as possible!).
Our relationship to time is really what gets in the way of our perception & understanding. How thankful any of us should be to get wisdom from someone over 90 years of age.
I actually learned this in church a few months back saying that even when something bad happens in the end its usually something good in order to grow in life. Thanks for the reminder Ethan. God bless.
I could listen to Ethan Hawke all day. I wish he could be my life mentor.
I love the job Denzel did in Training Day. But Ethan did better, IMO. He showed the transformation of his character a lot deeper.
I think Mr. Hawk is criminally underrated actor.
exactly
Agreed mate. He was great in Gattaca too. Don't know if you've seen it?
@@wileywilson I’ve heard praises. Gotta watch it myself.
@@TheASSedoTV you really should. We watched it in high school biology class and it’s so good!
That's beautiful philosophy. I'm so excited to watch the full episodes! I've had a rough week (year, as per everyone) and this show is so soothing and reassuring. Thank you for developing it!
OMG, I really needed to hear this & it perfectly encapsulates what I'm feeling @ this moment in time.
Second video interview I've seen with this man today, inspired stuff. Happiness is in doing.
Thanks I needed to hear this in this season of my life. Sage Ethan, you master.
I really, really needed to hear this.
"The Good Lord Bird don't run in a flock. He flies alone."
Never thought much of Ethan but he shared some great words here
thanks, i needed that
Wow, very insightful! "There is no happiness without meeting your responsibilities" LOVE that!
Training day rocked
Man this guy is very articulate about things that matter. I did not expect that.
He seems like such a genuine human being
2:50 this just hit home for me, powerful advice
Whoever hasn't watched Seymour I highly recommend you do. Excellent directing work by Ethan and lots of life lessons from Seymour.
Wow! So insightful
Hawke is my kind of human.
That was so good.
So true. I love him.
Such a wise man! I love this.
Good editing @ 1:45, hanging on Sam as captive to the storytelling.
Stoic lesson right here
Growing pain. Love this ❤️
Hello there. Thank you for your love, care and support all through my career, I really do appreciate it. Tell me what's your favorite movie of all my movies you have seen so far?
@@ethanhawke8369 personally it’s White Fang, because my mom was a fan of Jack London ; besides you doing a phenomenal job tugging at the heart strings. I’m also a fan of Great Expectations and Reality Bites as I grew up with you so to speak…otherwise I’m a bad one to ask as I spend more time reading than watching movies. Please recommend one for me that I may have overlooked…
@@catsteinhilb2880 that's lovely, I'm glad I impressed you with my movies, it's always a wonderful feeling for me when I get positive reviews from my fans and admirers of my works. Where are you from?
@@catsteinhilb2880 sounds good, have you seen any of my books, do you know I'm an author as well?
@@ethanhawke8369 actually yes, from a podcast I was impressed by but cannot recall…a wrote down to future read: A Bright Ray of Darkness…
Love.
Really good 🥳🥳
Wow. Not as obvious as it sounds. Ethan is one of the most intelligent, self aware and articulate men who I could listen to all day.
I am amazed at how many of these that Ethan has done. He is really some sort of authority on psychology, or so it seems.
I admire him
Nice.
Oh wow thank you
my favourite human
I love Ethan Hawke man
How do I contact the show to book a guest??
He looks like a wiser version of James Franco
Ethan Hawke Twò time academy award winner and one of the greatest actors of all time.
nice
Ethan is about my age. And I've had both and endless crush on him, and also a sense of irritation that he thinks he's soo deep.
BUT HE'S F*CKIN DEEP! He's that guy that you expect to be hipster-dismissive, but instead you have this great existential conversation with. And I end up loving him again.
1:38
He said this before Joker .
Ethan Hawke is my favorite.
I am intrigued what he brings to Moon knight project with marvel
Same here! I HOPE the writing on the show is great because they got some top tier talent in front and behind the camera for the show.
Hey I’m bill Chicago illinois
Hi I'm Jenn in Rhode Island! Have an amazing day!
clap clap clap
I wish there were more men that thought like this IRL. So many young men are sad boys these days waiting for manic pixie dream girls.
Whats wrong with him, on drugs or parkinsson?
Sad to see. Such an iconic actor.
Exactly the same message Jordan Peterson has been giving us for years. Start by tidying your room, then work your way out and up. Be responsible for yourself and what happens to you.
Man he sounds so pretentious
I have always kind of thought the same, but every time I hear an interview it's so much deeper than the superficial bs that most actors talk about. He's got substance. It's never about fame.
@@yourmajesty3569 This! He “seems” pretentious until you listen to a few interviews and realize he is not just spouting cliches.
I hate pretentious people but Ethan is one of the few actors who really is diving deep.
He's literate. And he's introverted. Which makes someone come off pretentious. They're just highly intelligent and may not have the best social presentation.
