  • I show my method of putting in dreadlocks and the immediate clean/neat look it gives as well as locking them tight.
I am using a 0.60 mm crochet hook made by clover. I recommend the loc sculpta by dreadheadhq or a 0.60 or 0.50 size crochet hook by clover.

People and their opinions! Locs, dreds, braids a hair cut, a perm, hair color or whatever you choose is all about personal choice. Its their body, their decision. For the people with the negative opinions, you don't like dreds, dont get any, simple as that!

I love dreads no matter whose wearing them. Just as long as they're clean and neat. I especially love to see my brothers rock them. This may sound strange, but when I see a white person with dreads I immediately think they're friendly, lol. You seem really friendly. ☺

The video is amazing...but the comment section is a slap in the face, with the hate, that so many people hold for complete strangers, and fellow humans. Sad to see the extreme disregard for others’ worth. The fact that a hair tutorial is what brought this this hate to the surface, shows that there are some people waiting, at any given moment, to spread their venom. We have to do better.

My mom's best friend who I refer to as my aunt is Hawaiian and she let her daughter get dreads. She gets her skin tone more from her dad who's white. Frankly I think she looks great with dreadlocks.
It doesn't matter what hairstyle you have our where it originates from. If you like it, then like it. It shouldn't matter what skin color you are. It's 2016 and people are still acting like stubborn children who don't want to share their toys. Grow up already! If a white, black, pink, red, orange, green, blue, yellow, indigo, purple, grey or even transparent person wants to do any specific hairstyle, then they can. Why? Because at the end of the day the only person who's opinion on it matters is the person with the hairstyle themselves.
And this is coming from a black girl who has natural dark brown curly hair. I don't specifically like wearing it curly so I straighten it. Does it matter? Not really. Hair is hair no matter what you do with it. Just like people are people no matter what they look like, how they speak, where they come from, what they believe, or how they decide to live their lives. Why can't people learn to open their eyes to the fact that the only thing that separates people from each other is in fact people themselves.

+Marly Bud Wow you're calling a 16 year old girl you don't even know a bitch because she says to accept people for who the are? How sick. Also, I don't care if white people put dreads in their hair. I don't care if black people have dreads in their hair. Why, because it doesn't matter.
And, @alphabet boi are you serious? Nobody deserves to be disrespected in such away. You should be ashamed of yourself. Ya know, my parents always taught me that god see's everything. You won't live forever and when it's your time(God forbid) is that something you'd be proud to say you called someone?

Marly Bud First I'm not white, scroll up and read I'm black. And do you think I don't feel some type of way when white people say and do racist shit? Like crossing the street when they see my brothers and their friends, or following us in stores, or commenting on our hair every chance they get, or maybe when they automatically assume I love watermelon and chicken. (hate watermelon, love chicken-just saying) Anyway most white people are racist. Keyword, White. Other ethnicities normally aren't that racist. As minority I'm playing my part, I'm not gonna be a racist bitch just because some white people are toward me. So I'm going to smile and not give a fuck if a white person has dreads not because I'm standing up for white people but because I'm standing up for what I wish our world was like. I wish my sisters could wear weave and not be called out on trying to be white when instead they just like they way it looks. I wish my brothers could walk down the street in groups without "looking suspicious" or being stopped by officers and questioned on what they're doing. It's called practicing what you preach. If I want these things from others then I have to give it to others. If I want you to accept me, then I'll accept you. Just likeI want my hair straight, he wants dreads. I call it give and take.

13ella Morte Hate to break yo bubble but Vikings had braids . Dreads caused naturally from kinky hair type . Some Vikings and white people had dreads And that was cause they would bathe 😂😂😂 BlCk people hair and Latino hair ( since they mixed wit black and other things ) , Locks up too . Latinos They is mixed so they hair locks up too to a certain degree naturally if they don’t comb it . White people if they don’t comb they hairs it’s different , they hair locks up but it takes forever . Latinos and blacks hair locks up faster quicker and even mixed people and da other mixed people aka Latinos lol. they got da thick thick somewhat maybe kinky and frizzy ... but Full Black people hair locks up like dat fast an easily . Anybody with thick hair very Extrnely thick hair or curly or thick frizzy thick Hair can dread . naturally . Latinos squally got dat hair type even wavy hair Latinos got thick hair somewhat a curl dat shit can lock up too Thick thick hair naturally DREADS UP . Something you white people dont understand

to everyone claiming cultural appropriation, dreadlocks are not an exclusively 'black' thing. Yes there is a lot of shaming and being called dirty but claiming it's somehow stealing is rediculous. All types of hair will dreadlock over time if not brushed. The Vikings and the Celts wore their hair dreaded right along with people all over the world.
besides, if you're angry because they're doing something you got told off for...well now you're doing the exact same thing.

You dont even need the bands. If anything the bands make it more difficult for the roots to lock because it stays narrow and flimsy under the band. They're mainly used just for sectioning and you remove the band as you do each dread.

Troxio black is a lazy term it basically means mutt . Most if not all the black people in America are mixed with various other races but wouldn't know because the stamp "afro American" or "African American" has been stamped on any dark skinned person with kinky hair. If you ever paid attention to the facial features of African Americans? They all have different features not commonly present on their African counter parts. For example actor will Smith is what you would call "black" but he looks more Arabic or Moroccan. I'm sure if he traced his roots like any other "black"person he'll find waaaaay more layers of culture hidden under that "black" term. If you think about it every ethnic group has a dark skin counter part..

Luis Bernardez i understand but doing this bru but you skipping stages that gives you the knowledge not no one else having the knowledge and you pay them to me its like letting someone do your homework and you not knowing anything people growing dreads ask me questions about my journey and get advice from me this guy getting his hair done can't give any advice to anyone cause he doesn't know the stages but people can do what they want and they do its like a baby walking instead of crawling

+Tony Williams I see where your coming from. But you gotta remember that not everyone has them for the same reasons! You know what I mean? Oh and also, my friend Kegan here in this video was able to go along his dread journey and still experience shorter dreads and had the experience to watch them grow.

LOL "don't spread lies to the world", I love that ;) So true. My dreadlocks are 8 years old, and I have no intention of parting with them, so I cannot answer the "combing out dreadlocks" question from personal experience. However, my girlfriend also had dreadlocks and chose to comb them out. Her hair was silky afterwards, and undamaged. No matter how old your locks are, if you use a great deal of hard-core conditioners, and leave it in, it'll take a long time to comb out the locks, but it works.

Awesome video. The answer to joycesnaturalblends. I am an African American female and I started my dreads by backcombing. I did not have to do the knotting like ColinsDread777 I just backcombed them till it formed a ball and then palmrolled it gently with some gel. Our texture is kinky naturally and may not have to even do that part. But my hats off to you ColinsDread777 beautifully done. :-)

Yo, this was a bomb ass, epic, MUCH NEEDED video. Thank you so much for taking the time to make it. And for making it short, sweet, and to the point. Just like it's easier for black peoples hair to dread, white peoples hair stays straight in the rain if you get my point. Who gives a fuck though?? damn! Appreciate the video.
My boyfriend is Mexican and wants me to do his dreads. I have done my brothers before but of course, their textures differ.
It's amazing learning a new technique and pretty awesome being able to say I am versatile with how I do it because I've learned in different textures. This video helped a ton. Thank you man!

Yes the size affect how thick they are in the long run, once they tighten up. Just think of how you want them to look from the front, then section them that way. Most people do the "brick" pattern rather than they "checkerboard" pattern.

I used the crouchet method on my dreads and I've had them for 9 months, the first couple months I didn't do maintence but a little later, I started to really get into the maintence with the hook, but the past couple months I havent done any... some of my dreads have damaged hair. how can I fix the dreads to make have at least a neater look?

  • @Kiara0404

This is great. I'm locking my biracial kids hair. The older one locked quickly with comb coils, however, my younger son's hair is very soft and fine and loose wavy curls that won't go or stay in comb coils. I didn't want to interlock, so I am going to try this method on his hair.

Were my dreads done wrong? I went to have them done and I ended up with what looks like hair that's been wrapped around my top of my head and then wrapped down. One came undone and now I have a chunk of hair loose at my neck and my dread is loose. Any way to fix this? Should I take them out and try them myself? She hurt my hair badly with a hook.

If my hair is 4 inches can I do this to start dreads or would you suggest I wait till my hair is longer, because I heard people say that shorter hair doesn't dread using the backcombing method. I feel like this method would work to dread them...like backcomb a little bit and then crochet the rest of the dread. But would backcombing the whole thing work?
