I use both - texturing clay in towel dry hair as a prestyler (apply like a dream) and clay pomade as a post-styler to lock in the style while having movement. The texturizing clay is easy to wash out while the clay pomade stays in the hair a bit more. By combining the two my hair style can survive humidity and rain. Regarding the application being dry, adding a very minor amount of water onto your hands a bit before trying to emulsify the product works wonders with FHS line.
how does one go about finding samples of the products you review? at such high prices for such small containers to try all of them at full price would surely break the bank!
Been using the previous version clay pomade (summer pomade) for a month, it's really malleable and firm, though i live in Malaysia. Matte finish and a bit dry to apply. Btw, it performs well
You really would Robin. And I know your all about healthy ingredients. Theres a brand that is gearing themselves towards being a higher quality brand called Trents. And their TH1 is nice for nourishing the hair.
So hesitant on buying the clay pomade because the texture clay did give my hair a decent amount of shine. The texture clay looks very shiny in robins hair also.
Robin for a hair that is flat needs always some work to get volume what would you recommend the cavlair clay or the first hand clay pomade sometimes when I add a clay feels hevy and lose volume get flat again what is your recommendation
Hey! I finished my course about a year ago. Plans for things coming soon! Both products so different. A87 is thicket and heavier. Depends what I want to do with my hair.
Me too! It feels lighter and still makes a difference in terms of great shape and texture for my hair. I have thick hair and prefer it over the clay pomade.
Robin James That one is one of my personal favorite water based pomades haha I wanted to ask you, what are your thoughts on Petroleum based products? Do they clog your pores and thus cause hair thinning or balding? Or is it just a myth people make up for marketing?
you already did the honest review video for texturizing clay 3 weeks back...dont you get bored doing the same thing again and again ...such repetitive content
Hi Saurabh, thank you for your feedback. Without sounding repetitive, I've noted that your past comments on my videos have all been slightly more negative in tone; and focus only on the hair videos. Might I be so bold as to suggest you watch my other videos - many of which focus on style. Could be good for a bit of variation? Again, I appreciate the feedback.
@@ManForHimself hehe..with due honesty I love watching your videos ..nothing negative ...yes I watch all your videos ..hair,style,grooming everything...cheers!
Have you been over? manforhimself.com/products/
Some great reviews (and pictures) already on my site.
You should try some vintage hair products and compare them to today's products.
Sitting in natural light suits you very well. The studio looks great and inspiring. Cheers!
Thank you!

Always enjoy your reviewing. Why ? ..
World class.
Could you make a brand battle video between Firsthand Supply Clay Pomade and Hanz de fuko Claymation? thx..
Very glad to see the clay pomade got a review. The texture clay is great for prestyling.
It's a great brand.
Could you review stickmore clay fibre? And perhaps what the best products are for holding up in humid weather?
Hey man can you do a review for the best pre styler
how does one go about finding samples of the products you review?
at such high prices for such small containers
to try all of them at full price would surely break the bank!
I think the texturizing clay can also be used as a pre styler aswell
You need to. If you want good hold.
Nice review I wanted more info on these products.
Glad it helped!
Robin you need to take a hairstyle like dwayne johnson
This was just the video I was looking for. Can you do a review for Rosewood clay pomade? Very good one👍👌
Been using the previous version clay pomade (summer pomade) for a month, it's really malleable and firm, though i live in Malaysia. Matte finish and a bit dry to apply. Btw, it performs well
Hi do u prestyle ur hair /use a blowdryer ? Or do u just apply the product straight ?
Robin can you review Helium Black Armour range. They have great products. Have a look
I need to check out that brand.
New studio tour? I think so.
Looks like the stache is coming back also?
Yes - let's do that when it's finished!
Clay pomade looks super amazing
Love it
hudson and mane products review pleaseee!!
Probably not, to be completely honest, George.
I hope to see third&co. Texture clay one day. That stuff is great for plumping thinned hair.
Sounds like I'd love it!
You really would Robin. And I know your all about healthy ingredients. Theres a brand that is gearing themselves towards being a higher quality brand called Trents. And their TH1 is nice for nourishing the hair.
Oh you made perfect video 😍 thanks for this!
Praise indeed. Thanks!
So hesitant on buying the clay pomade because the texture clay did give my hair a decent amount of shine.
The texture clay looks very shiny in robins hair also.
Don't buy it. Buy Stickmore Clay Fibre in stead.
I hear you talk a lot about Kevin Murphy styling products but I never hear you talk about the shampoos are they good ?
Hey, I have them but I usually stick to other ones. I can take a look.
The clay pomade I realized is a great prestyler
You said that kaolin clay does NOT swell the hair? Is that true?
Robin for a hair that is flat needs always some work to get volume what would you recommend the cavlair clay or the first hand clay pomade sometimes when I add a clay feels hevy and lose volume get flat again what is your recommendation
Which one better claypomade or matte paste by odouds? Yes its one paste and one clay but I mean for better quiff style
I think they have reformulated the clay pomade.
should try apothercary 87 matte paste
For sure!
Are you still training to be a barber? Also do you prefer A87 clay or Northern Lights paste?
Hey! I finished my course about a year ago. Plans for things coming soon!
Both products so different. A87 is thicket and heavier. Depends what I want to do with my hair.
Have you tried the 'All Purpose Pomade" from First Hand?
Hey! Yes, I own it. Have you tried?
Robin James How would you compare the hold and washout between the All Purpose Pomade and Clay Pomade (Summer Pomade)?
£20 for that product now, hopefully I enjoy the new formula. Matte Pomade version.
Love the new studio!!
Cheers Jamie. It's getting there.
Maybe a look at the reworked flagship line next?
Would love to!
May I know what editing software you use to edit your videos?
Hey! Yes, I use FCPX
We love when you review Homebrewers!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Anthony. I love doing it too.
Robin James I personally only use Homebrewed hair products now, nothing else anymore 😂 they take up most of my collection
What product do you recommend for fizzy curly hair ?
Dyson hair straighteners if u want different style for a week or two.
I have a friend who uses uppercut with curly hair absolutely cool.
do a office tour!
good video!
it helped me thanks
Thanks! And yes!
What is your pre style clay or product?
I like the texturing Clay better. Not greasy at all.
Me too! It feels lighter and still makes a difference in terms of great shape and texture for my hair. I have thick hair and prefer it over the clay pomade.
@@howl5351 do you mean the clay pomade is more the heavier side on hair ?
ian jimmy yeah the clay pomade feels heavier to me. But using just a little most people should be fine.
I don’t have hair, I am bald.what do I do now?
Check out my style and grooming videos!
Have you reviewed Mr Pompadour? Maapilm?
hey! I've not.
Love the clay pomade ( summer pomade ) incredible hold and love the scent
I do too! And I'm so glad they changed the name. Naming is naming, but it can get confusing!
What do you think about label M?
LOVE Label M. Have done a few videos with them.
Did you like their All-Purpose Pomade Robin?
Hey Anthony, still to get fully to grips with it.
Robin James That one is one of my personal favorite water based pomades haha I wanted to ask you, what are your thoughts on Petroleum based products? Do they clog your pores and thus cause hair thinning or balding? Or is it just a myth people make up for marketing?
Jack black clay pomade?
Will pop it on the list.
That coffee looks good 😋
So good!

new studio looks so much better
It's a good space!
Ship 🛳 to USA 🇺🇸?
Hey, yep. And they're a US brand.
Shame that their basic pomade is too "uwb".. 🙄 Reminds me so much of O Douds. I was wishing more Paradox kinda style.. (you should review that too 😉)
Will pop on the list for sure!
Tome like !
Bought both!
Which is your favourite?
Robin James it comes in today , but I’ll definitely let you know! 😁
no doubt. Clay pomade looks better
It's a great product!
Haha both are too weak for my hair here in Singapore
What do you use instead?
