I'm 29 and started mewing 1 year ago. I had the narrow pallet issue you mentioned, my tongue would overlap onto my molars. But for the first few months I would curl my tongue so it would fit in between my teeth and use it's force to push outward against my teeth. 1 year later my tongue fits perfectly between my teeth and I can mew normally. It's become my natural position for my tongue but it took a lot of work and I incorporated chin tucks, abdominal breathing, and weight lifting.

Cool. Similar story with me. I started oil pulling years prior which cleared up inflamed tonsils left over from childhood chronic strep throat and penicillin. My whole throat and neck was all out of place, whole spine too (scoliosis). Been using Yoga Asana and breathing and like you also the weights. Have almost fixed the curve in my spine now too.

It’s an informal term for a kind of myofunctional therapy called “orthotropics”.
It’s called Mewing because it was first popularized by a Doctor named Mew.

I wish you would've elaborated regarding the "misleading" part.
If you're speaking about social media gurus
on YT or Tic-Toc making bold claims, then, sure, I 💯 agree.

The reason why it doesn’t work for many is because theyre hard mewing which is applying too much pressure to the palate. The tongue has to gently rest on the palate. When you hard mew you dont allow the muscles to relax and activate the different groups of muscle in alternating fashion. Mewing simply balances the muscles that’s why it corrects posture issues and malocclusion

When I open my mouth and try to touch the tip of my tongue to the roof of my mouth, it closes a bit. I do feel the front of my neck muscle engage.
