My first day in Guyana continued with a late-night street food tour of the capital, Georgetown! Come with me as I try some Guyanese street food after dark!
My guide Stacey from Visit Guyana and I started our late night food adventure on Sherriff Street, where we’d be having local fast food! It’s the place to go for quick, easy, and tasty foods!

Our first stop was Crazy Burgers, where you can buy burgers, fried chicken, and more. They built us a burger with ketchup, cabbage, red onion, garlic mayo, mustard, and a mountain of grilled boneless chicken, topped with shredded white cheese!
The burger was exceptional. It was juicy and creamy, with a prominent garlic flavor. I added a bit of spice to mine, which made it peppery. It was so delicious, but I had to pace myself!
It was raining hard that night, so we waited a bit for it to calm down after a guy from a food truck across the street invited us to try his burgers! At King & Queens Bar-B-Que, we saw that they had chicken and beef burgers, grilled beef, milkshakes, and more.
They’d be making us their special Hawaiian fish burger. Their slogan is “One bite and you’re hooked!” They deep-fried some onions and fried us some eggs. I tried their super spicy pepper sauce, their special house sauce, and their amazing barbecue sauce.
They toasted the bugs, added a creamy relish, and topped it with the fish dipped in the barbecue sauce. Then, they add turkey bacon, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, mustard, pineapple, and the egg.
This burger was massive and full of contrasting textures. It was finger-licking good! I loved the garlic in their house sauce. The spice level was subtle and the pineapple added a nice acidity and sweetness. It was the perfect tropical fish burger!
Next, we drove less than a minute to Wild Burgers, where they make wraps and burgers. I watched them make a chicken wrap, but we’d be getting a beef burger. They use ground beef and add hot dogs, ketchup, pineapple, onion, mustard, and an egg. It’s a massive, messy burger that looks almost like a Sloppy Joe!
The burger was so good. It was so saucy, but I had to add a bit of spicy sauce. The fluffy bun absorbed everything. The toppings fall out as you eat, so I couldn’t help but lick the paper. It was unbelievable! What an awesome, calorie-filled street food tour of Sherriff Street in Georgetown!

Guyana is one place where you can dive deep into the culture when searching for and tasting the local Guyanese food. In Guyana the food appears to be a melting pot of age-old cultures, traditions and flavors - many coming from Africa, Britain, the Caribbean, Dutch, India, China and Portugal. Happy hungry! When i left guyana we didnt have proper streets much less a street food scene. Great to see the progress. Guyana is now catching up to the rest of the world. Hats off to the people of Guyana. Keep moving up. I am Due a visit.

It's great to see the changes in Guyana. Street vendors seem more hygienic than most countries. With all that late night food tasting, I hope you didn't lay up in bed with indigestion!! My Guyanese Mom is 80 yrs now she said when she grew up in Georgetown they didnt have alot of restaurants in Guyana everyone used to cook fresh food at home everyday from the market. It was so nice growing up with a Guyanese Mom that cooked everyday fresh food nothing from the can. When we moved to America my Mom found local Guyanese groceries. My American friends had no idea what they were missing and I used to get teased because we didnt eat American food lol. Everyday mom packed my lunch box with Guyanese food. Now Mom is like "you cook im done" 😂

Wow...amazing to see how much Georgetown has changed. When I left in 1980 Sheriff St was mostly residential; there were I think two "bottom house" Chinese restaurants.
Bra the bread on that chicken burger is top tier! When y'all squeezed that I cud see it was delish🤩 Damn I'm hungry now!

Oh yes Street time Late night Eats!! Lets go! That's one massive chicken burger and I love garlic sauces! That would fill you up at the end of the day lol. Could not sleep after that though for while. Bring the spice I bet that was good!! Oh a Hawaiian fish burger? Man I so want one of those !! Delicious Hand me one omg lol. The amount of food you get is insane lol Well worth your money for sure. That burger mix? omg wow Chop chop!! That is insane amount of meat lol. 2 people for sure to eat that. Heck of a place to get some great street food. I want a fish burger you had now though YUM. Thanks for the late night street food adventure ♥♥

When I visited Guyana 3 years ago I didn't know about any of these new food place they have in Georgetown since I don't go often to visit. Next time I Go I got go all these places foodie eats

Street food at night in Guyana ? Where the heck is this? I remembered everywhete closed by 8pm. Only Chinese food (which I love in paperbag) was available. Good to see this amazing highlight.

Buongiorno David: You know how I always say that I don't eat animal meat, well here's a surprise, I will have any one of those burgers with you anytime. You know how juicy the burger is when you bite into it and you end up with a lot of stuff around your mouth. I can't believe Stacy put the burgers away so easily. She is good. Street food is the best because it's almost like homemade and nothing is frozen. Makes a lot of difference. I think I would go for the fish burger though. They put everything but the kitchen sink in those burgers. LoL. As a side note, I pray for the safety of you and your family and the people of Florida with hurricane Ian heading your way. @@dek1518 Ever since I was a kid in the early 90s our school canteens sell burgers, beef and fish burgers you could've even get it on the road corner, KFC came to Guyana around 1998, you dont know nothing about Guyana, you should ask somebody who actually live here especially in Georgetown, country ppl ain't shine
