That’s a pretty solid lineup! It’s really hard to narrow down to only 5 and still cover all aspects of gaming you like (ie. themes, mechanics, player counts etc.) After a while of going back and forth my five would be In the Year of the Dragon, Yellow & Yangtze, Chinatown, Babylonia and Parade.
I’m so glad Res Arcana made this list because that would be my 1 game! However, since you guys will have a copy of that I’m gonna go with… wait for it… I’m ready for the unjustified hate…CATAN! This is the game that got me into the modern board gaming hobby and I’m not ashamed to say I still will never refuse a game of Catan!
Enjoyed this video. And it went the way I hoped when I posed it. Not to start a scuffle but for you guys to come up with your favorite games to play with each other basically and compromising. And what a twist. Scout sneaking in!!!
1. The Crew - I want a trick taking game and this one has variable goals. Then you could always make one of the suits trumps and play regular trick taking games like Hearts, Spades, etc. 2. The Quest for El Dorado - I want a deck builder and a race game. This is great at both of those and has the variability. 3. Castles of Burgundy- great game and more complex (if I had more experience with larger more complex games I might change this but for now it’s the one) 4. Ohanami- good light relaxing card game but has a deck numbered 1-120 that could be used to play other games 5. Crokinole because it’s almost more of an activity. Honorable mention: Would like more dice represented on the list so I might swap in Dice Throne for something. Telestrations would be great if we just need a laugh after going through the apocalypse P.S. I miss the old intro with the coffee maker and your logo in the froth.
“They ate the internet?…jerks.” 😂 My 5: Gloomhaven Hero Realms Scythe Azul Aeons End Thanks for another great video. I’ll be in the discord soon looking for some Disney world tips!
The hyper-specific zombie scenario was incredible. 🧟♂️ I'm glad we got to see the timeline resolve itself at the end of this video. Open-ended time travel is dangerous!
If I could only have one game: my favorite game is Cosmic Encounter. That’s the obvious choice but not what I’m going with. I thought I could pick something really complex that would take a life time to master, like a Pax or Bios game. But I think I’m going with just the opposite. Something super simple and mindless that I can play anywhere with anyone and have a good time. Cribbage is my answer. Bonus that I just thought of - since Cribbage needs a standard deck of cards to go with the board, I get a myriad of other card games with it, unless my memory is wiped of all of them.
I am so glad that y’all made the rule of you both get to chose one definite and that Jamie put Villainous. Villainous is my favorite board game of all time and I wish my family loved it as much as Jamie does so they would play with me.
I know thus is probably a super obscure pick, but I think, if I can only save one of the five remaining games left in a zombie apocalypse, it would be Mykerinos. It is accessible with fairly simple rules, offers tough decision making and is always a nail-biter right to the very end on who wins. It is a very satisfying game experience.
1. Spirit Island - best game full stop. I need some kind of coop on this kind of list and this one has insane variety. 2. Tiny Towns - this game scales perfectly at all player counts (up to 6!) should I have more than 2 humans around. 3. Quarto - for the head to head abstract goodness that can be played in like 15 minutes. 4. Menara - always exciting. Dexterity and cooperative is such a weird combo but it 100% works. 5. Everdell - just a completely pleasant game to play. Couldn’t imagine not having this one around.
How dare those zombies eat all the games! I think a game I would not like to live with out is Orleans (can I ask for better art though?🧐) Leave it up to Brad to come up with a question that has Jeff flinging coffee around!!😂 Solid well rounded 5 picks! And I think definitely sold me on backing the new castles
1) Castles of Burgundy - Thinky enough 2) Crokinole - Dexterity and useful for conflict resolution (better than fighting to the death in a zombie apocalypse) 3) Carcassonne Big Box- Fast and easy 4) Bohnanza - Flex negotiation skills (useful for zombie apocalypse) 5) Shipwreck Arcana - Neat little cooperative deduction game to keep your brain fresh!
Fun list, good job you guys! I would have to pick Root and Villainous as well. Then Kemet, So Clover and Robinson Crusoe. Really hard to just pick 5, darn Zombies!
I'm just catching up on videos that I missed. "Jamie! Are you drunk?" That made me laugh out loud for real. 😂 Such conviction in the question! When the 🧟zombie-pocalypse 🧟♀happens, I'm making my way over to your place! 🤣 I'm glad Villainous was chosen! I'd include Dice Throne (S1). P.S. Nova Luna. It's the game my wife and I play the most lately. Before that it would have been Carcassonne. And before that, 7 Wonders. And before that, Alhambra. Games that you can play over and over again and not get sick of are rare gems. But if I had to narrow down to 5, these 4 would be on the list for sure. Not sure what number 5 would be.
That last game slot could have held someone like Cat lady really well, easy works at two and is super fun! But I am also surprised you didn't go for a game like Ghost stories? The no expansion rule is so hard, I was thinking Arkham Horror LCG but no expansions hurts it. For me the one game I know I would have is five tribes. I was also thinking the campaign games but you are right, when it ends it could be a waste of space.
My #1 is Arkham Horrow The Card Game but the base game does not have enough content to last very long. So I’d had to go with a strong #2 choice of Spirit Island!

Sorry Gloomhaven, but this is the only time Azul wins. I just can’t think of another game I am have no issues picking up and playing and my strategy changes every time based on what flips first.

Villainous is awesome. The phrasing of your statement is rough, Try next time to word it “villainous isn’t for me, it’s amazing how we are all different” the original sounds like you’re downing on Jamie for picking it! And Jamie is awesome.
Why can you not have expansions but a huge deluxified big big is fine? If I only have 5 games I'm picking ones that I know are good but I haven't had the time to properly explore because I have too many games. Going Gloomhaven, Terra Mystica, Castles of Burgundy, Keyflower and Tzolk'in.
When mom and dad get into an argument lol
1) a deck of playing cards - the most versatile thing in gaming
2) Ascension Tactics
3) Marvel Zombies
4) Middara
5) Mosaic
Really wanna try Middara!
Now, I want a board game where zombies go after our board games!
Yes they ate the internet... jerk zombies 🧟♂️
They had a hunger for broadband
That’s a pretty solid lineup! It’s really hard to narrow down to only 5 and still cover all aspects of gaming you like (ie. themes, mechanics, player counts etc.)

Me neither!
I'd never get rid of This war of mine.... NEVERRRRR
Really wanna try that one!
This mad world makes just a little bit more sense seeing you guys happily bicker.
Hahah it’s our zombie defence!
You made me laugh many times - I would have to have Wingspan and Isle of Cats because I can get my wife to play those!
Those are great choices Jim!
Enjoyed this video. And it went the way I hoped when I posed it. Not to start a scuffle but for you guys to come up with your favorite games to play with each other basically and compromising. And what a twist. Scout sneaking in!!!
Brad - was a great suggestion!!! We appreciate the idea!
Great video! Sleeping gods would probably always be in my top 5, that game is great
agreed!!
1. The Crew - I want a trick taking game and this one has variable goals. Then you could always make one of the suits trumps and play regular trick taking games like Hearts, Spades, etc.

Solid choices bro. 🤙
Of your list, and it’s surprising to me, I’d go with Res Arcana.
If I got to pick one, it’s Glen More II.
We are about to play that one this month!
“They ate the internet?…jerks.” 😂
My 5:
Gloomhaven
Hero Realms
Scythe
Azul
Aeons End
Thanks for another great video. I’ll be in the discord soon looking for some Disney world tips!
They are jerks!! Lots of Disney tips in there ready for you!
I would definitely have a deck builder like Mystic Vale and for sure have It’s A Wonderful World.
The hyper-specific zombie scenario was incredible. 🧟♂️ I'm glad we got to see the timeline resolve itself at the end of this video. Open-ended time travel is dangerous!
Exactly correct. Gotta close those time loops
I like the thought of someone in the middle of a crazy doomsday apocalypse just lugging around their copy of gloomhaven with a broken token insert
Fending off zombies, throwing map tiles like ninja stars
If I could only have one game: my favorite game is Cosmic Encounter. That’s the obvious choice but not what I’m going with. Hahah we will not wipe your memory! It stays intact
Ironically, if it's only one, I'd take Camel Up. I have so much fun every time, win or lose!
Camel up is a great one!
A dexterity game that you can perfect would be on our list. Pitch Car. It'd be rough without at least extension 1 though with the jumps.
We’re trying to find a copy of the OG game!
@@FostertheMeeple we got ours from Eagle Griffin games.
@@KilljoyX87 amazing! Thank you!!!

Great list of games Seth! Thanks for sharing
Off the top of my head
Spirit island
King of tokyo
Azul
Quacks of quedlinburg
Terraforming mars
Awesome list of games!
No Silver Bullet? 🤨
No, it is always tough because we have a lot of love for that game!
That was my immediate first thought, lol. Especially since it is more likely to be agreed upon by both sides.
How dare those zombies eat all the games! I think a game I would not like to live with out is Orleans (can I ask for better art though?🧐)
Leave it up to Brad to come up with a question that has Jeff flinging coffee around!!😂
Solid well rounded 5 picks! And I think definitely sold me on backing the new castles
Brad got us fired up that’s for sure
I really hope we don’t have to worry about board game eating zombies in the future 😂 Scythe is definitely my must-have game!
I agree, they are the worst kind of zombie
Everdell for me guys! Great at any player count + cute + thinky + high replayability + different every time! I really liked your list
That’s a popular one!! Very cute. You’re right. Love it!
My 5:
1. Everdell
2. Aeon's End
3. Parks
4. Thunderstone Quest
5. Wingspan
6. Tiny Epic Dungeons (It was in my pocket so the Zombies missed it)
Great list!!
1) Castles of Burgundy - Thinky enough
2) Crokinole - Dexterity and useful for conflict resolution (better than fighting to the death in a zombie apocalypse)
3) Carcassonne Big Box- Fast and easy
4) Bohnanza - Flex negotiation skills (useful for zombie apocalypse)
5) Shipwreck Arcana - Neat little cooperative deduction game to keep your brain fresh!
Good list!! Thanks for sharing
The game should be…If we had to take off quick, what games would we throw in our suitcase, knowing we may never come home.
Same 5 games!

I would fight the zombies to keep Spirit Island
Hahah fair enough!
Good selections. My would be 1) castles of burgundy, 2) wingspan, 3) villianous, 4) architects of the west kingdom, 5) terraforming mars.
Great picks!!!
I put two before you said only one. Please don’t throw one out Jaime.🤣
Zombies ate the internet!! Y’all got a little heated in this video 🤣 love to see the compromise in the end! I could not live without Wingspan

Tim! I love hearing this. Making friends laugh is my love language :)
If I could only have 1 game, it would have to be Brass. I do think Foundations of Rome would be great to be part of the 5.
Brass is a great call but no way Jamie’s accepting that one!
Sooo...he is FOR SURE an alpha gamer lol :-)
If I had to choose 5 games I'd pick :
1 Parks
2 Castles of Burgundy
3 Any Card game (don't know which one)
4 Wingspan
5 Villainous

Smart. We do need a whimsical mental escape. Meadow would be perfect

They only like cardboard. They are a unique zombie / gamer hybrid
Pretty sure you’re getting eaten by zombies while you decide which games to save in a heated debate 😂 seriously fun video!
The zombies are only interested in cardboard!!! We’re safe!
Orleans! It’s super hard, but I think that’s what I’d pick.
Nice!! It’s a classic but we’ve not played it yet
Lol, just realized it might’ve sounded like I meant the game is super hard. But I meant the decision 😆
FIND ME JEFF. I’ll play Root with you bb.
Anytime boo
7 Wonders! Amazing multiplayer game, and you can use variant rules for 2P (even though I'd rather have Duel)
7 wonders is a fun one for sure!!
Played res for the first time this week. I feelt like it was pretty random. Not terrible, but I wont be playing it again.
Not every game is meant for everyone!
Throw imperial assault on there. It’s a great 2 or more player campaign and a two player skirmish game in the same box. Plus minis!
We love Imperial Assault!! We hope to get it back to the table soon
Great list. If I had to keep only 5 I don’t know exactly what I would pick but I’m sure it would include one Pfister game, one Rosenberg and at least one roll and write (possibly two). My current top R&W is Three Sisters but I recently got Explorers (Phil Walker-Harding) and I’m really enjoying it.

I agree completely. Maybe we can at least sneak in P&E deck into the box ;)

The Frankenstein of boardgames!
Great selection. I haven’t play a lot of games yet so my selection might look bleh.
- Dice Throne (one of the big boxes) to have a more dice based game, 1vs1, or 2vs2 take that.
- long Shot for that party fun game (I haven’t play this yet but I really think I will enjoy it).
- I like the idea of having castles of burgundy for more euro game “heavy” game.
- cascadia for the very light game that it is still very strategic if you want.
- spirit island for the variability and because it would take so much time to get good at it and it is co-op.
