At 3:53 she says the Forensic Scientist will point first to the Murderer and then to the Accomplice, but the rules say they are pointed at together. Basically the witness is not supposed to know who's the Murderer and who's the Accomplice between the 2
From the Witness description - "They have no way of knowing which is the Murderer and which is the accomplice and they do not know how the crime was committed"
Fair enough, though it is good for people new to this game to know how game breaking it can be if this rule is broken so they can make an educated decision to purchase this game.
I noticed that in her explanation video and pointed it out. She says to point at the murder then the accomplice though the rules say they should not be able to tell who is who. Edit I'm now realizing the video I watched is the beginning of this video.
Also, I think it is clearer in Chinese of what everything means, because the phrase 畸形 can only mean that person is borned disfigured, but the word disfigured can mean both after the murder or that person was borned disfigured
I think they simply used the wrong word. Malformed, Misshapen are better words for that. Disfigured is never used to refer to a physical flaw someone was born with.
i mean... the murderer did literally built an entire charade of "night time blood letting rave" and his time of murder is "noon". Yeah... real close...
LoLCTHSKateer but that could just be a joke. But for someone at the start the game to immediately mention the weapon and evidence. Any murderer would think thats too uncanny to be a genuine guess
I was replying to custersword. I am whole heartedly agreed with you that Paula gave herself away. But somehow, UA-cam decide "nope, even thou you're replying to the comment, i dont give you tag name". :< okay
At 21:29 you said "And technically you can pull Location [of Crime] or Cause of Death" Though the rules say "The Forensic Scientist draws a new tile from the draw pile. This tile replaces one of the previously used Scene tiles except "Location of Crime" and "Cause of Death". This is one of the things you do differently from the rules that may affect your games in the future.
Depends on how your group wants to play. I've only played it twice but I rock at mind games and manipulation (not sure if I should be proud of that, lol) so I made an awesome witness the second time and didn't get caught.
Yeah, definitely fine to play it the way they did, but it does make it MUCH easier to guess the witness at the end if everyone knows that the witness can directly identify the murder and is not choosing between two possible choices.
This is a really fun game. I played with some friends for the first time and actually won as a witness! I nudged them to find the murderer and accomplice and I didn't get killed! Haha. Thanks for the vid!
Paula introduced me to the great Zeus School UA-cam channel the first time she was on here, and this is the 3rd time i remember her being on here. Paula is always the so entertaining!
You can create a link in the info card to the previous videos on how to play rather than reiterating it in the actual game. This creates more unique content and also gets right to the action
Or just embed a time stamp for the skip. I don't mind not having to open another video if I haven't seen the rules, but if I have it would be nice to just say "no thank you!"
Why on earth did Erik get rid of the disfigured clue? It seemed more obvious to eliminate the location as everyone was getting too tied up on that, not sure what the other cards have as possibilities (relationship wouldn't have helped point to glue I guess) but disfigured was ideal for reinforcing the acid.
During the very first Evidence Collection Phase, the Forensic Scientist should have had all six clue cards laid out first before placing any bullet markers. Then he could decide the order of which clue is given and the manner of how each clue is given (e.g., length of time taken for thinking before placing a marker) to strategically give hints to the investigators. The discussion may start as soon as the first marker was placed. The forensic scientist could therefore give clues by placing the subsequent markers strategically to steer the discussion direction.
With my group we always leave out the witness and the murderer can pick 2 cards from any group (2 cards have to be in the same group though). A lot more fun and challenging.
Becca did a very good job explaining the rules of the game, and it was very fun to watch the playthrough. I like this format much more than Tabletop's, because it has a better flow to it. First, a complete rules explanation and then just the game being played. What I didn't like so much about Tabletop (still a fan) was that it was heavily edited and the camera kept going away from the table and into the players monologues too much. Very good job, looking forward to watching more of the series!
Murder Weapon: Sulfuric Acid Clue: Glue Forensic Scientist Cause of Death: Poisoning (chosen) Doesn't really fit the murder weapon and is very vague, can be applied easily to others. Severe Injury (better). Location of Crime: School (chosen) Probably the best option. Does point at glue. Victim's Build: Disfigured (chosen) This was also very good. Suggests the sulfuric acid. Motive of Crime: Jealousy (chosen) Lots of good options, including this one. Only money and power would have been bad. Time of Death: Noon (chosen) A good choice. Likely equal with morning and afternoon since location is school. In Progress: Relaxation (chosen) Nothing clearly stands out as a clear choice here. Like assembly and visit could have worked as well. I think the major mistake by the Forensic Scientist was selecting Poisoning for cause of death (again, fits too many others and acid is generally not considered a poison...it's an acid), then not swapping it out when it was clear many folks were jumping poison to accuse everybody. Especially don't swap out disfigured. Social Relationship: Colleagues (chosen) An OK choice. For sulfuric acid, I think Lovers would have been better. You've already got jealousy, so why not play into that. Rarely do colleagues use acid to attack a colleague of which they are jealous. If the motive was hatred, maybe. But only a slight misplay. Not removing poisoning, which was confusing many folks was a mistake. Pulling relaxation was good, since it moves away from puzzle being an option. But the one with the puzzle was the only investigator that wasn't a witness, so not needed. Corpse Condition: Decayed (chosen) An OK choice, but to me points strongly at radiation. Incomplete might have been better and would point strongly to sulfuric acid. I know only being an observer and not under any pressure or time constraints makes me think I could do better. The hardest role in this game seems to be the forensic scientist since they have to listen to what people are using to connect weapons and clues and swap things out to de-emphasize the red herrings.
In progress should be Trading , you have to stick some stamp to the paper to legalize the trade or smth. People wont choose the other weapon because the only poison that can disfigure the victim is only Sulfuric Acid so they wont pick the wrong weapon from other people (Wine , Illegal drugs, Pills and Overdose cannot make the body disfigured) If you drink sulfuric acid, your organ will melt or even made hole on your stomach or something. The forensic put Relaxation like who relaxed with glue on his hand? I know some people get high smelling glue but that is not the common way to use glue.
10:21 That's wrong. The Witness is supposed to know who the Murderer and Accomplice are, but NOT WHICH ONE IS WHICH. He pointed to the murderer while saying they're the murderer, etc. Oops!
Yep, which pretty much determined the outcome of the game (barely refraining from saying spoiled the game) - the witness knew exactly who the murderer was, got her exposed but was not careful and got discovered herself and lost the game.
I moved out of state and I didn't have any friends. I invited some coworkers to meet me at a food place down the road after work and we could play some table top games as long as we all got something to eat or drink. Later, I met some magic players and as soon as we started hanging out and stopped playing magic, we started having fun with real games.
To me this is a spiced up game of mafia. The game seems great but I think I'll stick to the good old mafia variants that I came up with my friends as kids. I would never betray my childhood accomplishments.
So many misconceptions about sulfuric acid... First, acid is not poison. It's just not. Second, what school would ever have sulfuric acid?? That's insane!
Is it allowed for the forensic scientist to be so slow in adding the clues? That kinda makes it obvious which clues are the most certain ones and which are less relevant.
awfully similar to a game i remember from summer camp called mafia, it was just played with a few cards from a regular deck of playing cards. it was always a lot of fun,
Becca, the accomplice should make the guess and throw it at the murderer (Pisha) but choose the wrong items to get the real investigators off the trails.
Glenn De Block the round is over after everyone takes their turn making guesses of who and what. At the end of the round the forensic scientist changes one of the clue cards.
Glenn De Block no you don’t ever actually have to play your badge. Your badge is for when you wanna accuse someone. It’s strategy to gather a bunch of clues before you accuse someone, but you can also throw your badge if you are down to 2 options (people)
Fun group to watch but if you don’t show us the secret information, we can guess along with the investigators instead of knowing who done it, and how, from the start.
This seems very unbalanced in favor of the murderer. The investigators have to guess their identity (1 in 5) and 2 items, while even if they are caught, the murderer just has one in three chances of winning by pure luck guessing at the witness (even asides any chance of actually individuating them during the game).
The investigators get multiple clues, additional improvements to those clues, multiple guesses, they can still collaborate even after guess wrong, and none of it is a die roll. The hardest part is the number of forensic tiles and you HAVE to put something on them. So, "Tie" and "Relax" and "Noon" were all red herrings, but other words on the same cards didn't help either. You don't want to guess the murderer. You want to deduce and accuse, even if you are the murderer, you want to be able to be convincing enough when you accuse someone else.
I understand that. I'm just saying that even after the investigators have "won", the murderer still has a very good chance of winning anyway. 1 in 3 just by luck, and more than that if the witness is not super skilled at disguising him/herself
Agree entirely. I thought you only include a witness if there are more than a certain number of players. With 5 the murderer's chances of getting away with it is too high.
The witness is only for games of 6+ and is optional. I don’t use it for less than 8 tbh but I can understand that for the sake of showing everything in one video they included it in a game this size

Paula's catchphrase should've been "I am the witness, and you can trust me, because I'm being very obvious about it."
You gotta love a person who can’t lie even when it doesent matter, some people are more pure
For those who kinda wanna play along, skip to 10:38 to not know who the murderer, accomplice, or witness are
At 3:53 she says the Forensic Scientist will point first to the Murderer and then to the Accomplice, but the rules say they are pointed at together. Basically the witness is not supposed to know who's the Murderer and who's the Accomplice between the 2

Making them by definition not a witness lol.
The story is that they saw both criminals leaving the scene, not the act of the crime. Thus still witnesses.
I noticed that in her explanation video and pointed it out. She says to point at the murder then the accomplice though the rules say they should not be able to tell who is who.

Paula gave herself away immediately
Maybe, but the Forensics expert gave everyone too good of clues that pointed directly to the evidence too, which could have lead her to do that.
Custersword too good of clues? They were miles off as far as who the murderer was.
i mean... the murderer did literally built an entire charade of "night time blood letting rave" and his time of murder is "noon". Yeah... real close...

I saw this at my LGS the other day. Looks cool! I would love to see this played with 12 people though.
It gets draggy
it did feel super on the side of the murderer balance that more people would balance.
Lol, Witness was pretty obvious.
3 people keep guessing and only one is consistently spot on, XD
Rules wrong. You don't say who the murderer and accomplice is to the witness. You point to both and don't say anything..
House rules, play however you want as long as it is fun.

Lucas Piccoli I would’ve preferred tabletop to be full length vids at least. I don’t mind the cutting away bits, but I’d like to watch the whole game.

This is one of my favourite go to party games!
Thank you so much. This video is really helpful :)
Best show on geek and sundry.
madroswellfan watch table top it is a smoother better production of this and the players are now so camaraderie shy as so of these fokes
Happy Birthday
Makes me miss TableTop...
Aaand now I´m sad
What happened to them?
@@Chronically_ChiII Got cancelled, after Will Wheaton got a lot flak from the internet or something (don´t know exactly).
*ERIK "BFX" BECK!?! His channel (Indy Mogul) was one of the first channels that I regularly followed and watched.*

The woman in the denim jacket with glasses/bangs looks like Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel's character in New Girl)
I'm sure she gets that a lot!
Happy bday Becca!
Erik... didn't he do backyard fxs?
happy birth day Beca!
Scott's vest is spot on. How does one garment meet standards for both Hong Kong club wear /and/ steam punk?
17:57 What was Becca Scott doing?
Resistance is far superior. The episode of Table Top featuring it was its very best.
So this a mash-up of Clue and Resistance?
So many misconceptions about sulfuric acid... First, acid is not poison. It's just not. Second, what school would ever have sulfuric acid?? That's insane!
school was for GLUE not acid
Is it allowed for the forensic scientist to be so slow in adding the clues? That kinda makes it obvious which clues are the most certain ones and which are less relevant.

Becca is gorgeous!
Where's the Mountains of Madness episode that's mentioned? I'd love to watch it
Happy b-day Becca :b

Glenn De Block the round is over after everyone takes their turn making guesses of who and what. At the end of the round the forensic scientist changes one of the clue cards.
Chloe Bastone ok so everybody plays their badge at the end then? Why would anyone play it in the beginning with less clues?

Shouldn't the witness only know the murderer, not the accomplice?
to answer 10 months late: the witness should have no way of knowing which of the two is a murderer or the accomplice
