For the people who have an 89 mustang some of the wires are different colors leading up to the old cluster connections , dimmer wire, and both turn signal wires. How ever if you look at the back of the dimmer switch you'll find the wire for that and on the back of the steering wheel you'll find the wires for the turn signals, 2 green white for left turn signal and 2 blue white for the right
When taking the lower knee bolster is a great idea to remove the steering column plastic ring beforehand so you can avoid what happens at 2:05,lol, been there done that.
Alternator isn’t charging anymore, when you removed the factory gauges you lost the resistor that turns the alternator on, ask me how I know. You now need to wire one in, have this package it’s excellent though. You would wire it in to the alternator sensing wire, can’t remember the colour of the wire since I did this 3 years ago.
Unfortunately that got missed in editing but yes DD includes a jumper wire for this you connect to the original harness. I believe it is from the red wire to the red with green tracer.
If you install a LED lamp in the battery indicator light on the original cluster, the same thing can happen. I too learned that the hard way. I put a standard bulb back in and it started charging again.
INFO FOR WIRING LEFT TURN SIGNAL 90-93 Driver side: Green wire with white tracer. The video skips on the left turn signal. So if anyone looking in the comments for the info, here it is.
This install video defintely needs an update to address all of the questions and concerns in the comments section. I'm sure you guys just have tons of potential buyers that are waiting to pull the trigger. I say if you have the resources and man to power address each scenario via video why not?
Yeah I’ve bought products and barely finished them cause a lot of steps is missing I want a new cluster but I don’t understand why they don’t just have a plug in play version
Installed the original look dakota digital in my 1992 gt had turning signals and brake lights before the install now i dont have em but everything else works. I went to fuse to relay took everything back down make sure my wires to the module was right still nothing im lost.
How do you set the odometer? Can you just put in any miles you want? Or does it go off of what you had last? I only have 83,000 miles on my foxbody and I don't want them to go up nor do I want them to go down.
I'm horrified of electrical anything. How accurate is the GPS speed? Do you completely remove the speedometer cable? I'm also going to be installing a new Kenne Bell supercharger. I heard there is a window for boost in the info center. It sucks, I have the money for the console and boxes, but can't find anybody to install it.
So do u need to also buy that GPS part to get an accurate speedometer reading or will just the new gauge cluster by itself give an accurate speedometer
Yeah, you just find a cluster that has a 160 speedometer although those are pricey and hard to find, your more common ones are 140 and thats all you really need, you hit 160 in one one these cars and they will disintegrate, lol,im guessing you might be going for the "cool" factor
The odometer adds mileage based on the speedometer so it works pretty much like normal. You can add the mileage to the cluster one time and then it is locked.
Considering the price ,this display looks rather plain! I went to their website and there doesn't appear to be any better options. I'm not exactly understanding how this is an upgrade from the stock display!???? I dont get it!
@@smartyrdumb4681 damn are you paranoid man? Do you put foil around that square box you carry around in your pocket that tracks you and records everything you say?? My dimmer switch I cannot see and it is not red and blue
I love the look of this cluster
Crazy work! What a puzzle..

Lol this guy is definitely a butcher…

I was curious about this myself. How did you wire one in?
That's pretty bizarre
Lol ran into the same issue. Spliced them in under the dash.

Where was this video six months ago when I did my Dakota digital cluster?

Do I have to splice a wire for the parking indicator and for the check engine light to work?
Installed the original look dakota digital in my 1992 gt had turning signals and brake lights before the install now i dont have em but everything else works. I went to fuse to relay took everything back down make sure my wires to the module was right still nothing im lost.
Once all of this is complete and you want to go the gps route do you remove the speedo all together?
How do you set the odometer? Can you just put in any miles you want? Or does it go off of what you had last? I only have 83,000 miles on my foxbody and I don't want them to go up nor do I want them to go down.
Did I miss the left turn signal wire all you mentioned was the right turn signal, are does it work through the right turn signal only
bigboy9350 no you have to do both the guide should explain, you can also Google cluster diagrams you'll find a few useful ones out there.
On my 90lx it is a green and white wire on the driver's side.
Realistically, how many hours to complete the job? I have an 88
Really depends how comfortable you are with wiring. I think most people can do it in a day.

What about parking brake wire?
wish something like this was available for my 02 f150
So do u need to also buy that GPS part to get an accurate speedometer reading or will just the new gauge cluster by itself give an accurate speedometer
Yes he says in the video you need to buy this too
Yeah I'll be paying someone to install this. Next add on is getting them 17 ponies. 😁👍
Pretty cool
How is the accuracy??
The volts seem a little low. Shouldn't they be reading around 13 volts when the engine is running ?
I need that for a 1988 fox body mustang
Raptor_428 I think they make one, just different for the 85mph speedo.
Go to their website and buy one...
Go to their website and buy one...
Will this fit in a 1990 Lincoln mark vii lsc
something like this for a 1989 5.0 ?
Yes. They make one specifically for 87-89. I will be getting one for my 89 as my stock gauges are losing their accuracy.
can speedometer that reads up to 85mph be change to one that reads 160pmh?
Yeah, you just find a cluster that has a 160 speedometer although those are pricey and hard to find, your more common ones are 140 and thats all you really need, you hit 160 in one one these cars and they will disintegrate, lol,im guessing you might be going for the "cool" factor
What about the odometer? Especially if you are not using the speedo cable. How would anyone know the actual mileage?
The odometer adds mileage based on the speedometer so it works pretty much like normal. You can add the mileage to the cluster one time and then it is locked.
Would have liked to had better explanations and visuals on the GPS box. Explanation was vague and quick.
Anyone know the wire size? 14-18 gauge maybe?
What about the odometer?
It will start at zero or you can program it with your existing mileage.
Why only from 1990-1993?
Chris Horst first year for 120mph speedo. 90-93
140🤔
@@smartyrdumb4681 definitely dumb.
Ryan Jamieson ok they do make this for pre-90 cars too, why do you think they’re different?
Ryan Jamieson do you even Fox body bro?
My opinion from experience is to use mechanical gauges and custom Tach & speedo.. Screw digital..I don't want a 84 Corvette...
Great videos, but can't you organize all the wires, and clean and detail the engine, almost like a ricer🤔🤔
What about cruise control? Does that still function?
Yes it does.
Looks like the next mod for that car will be a new alternator...
There is one thing that bugs me, the cluster has blue lighting and the radio has red lighting lol.
The cluster is available with different color lighting.
I WiSH these guys did Honda's of the same generation (88-91)
Considering the price ,this display looks rather plain! I went to their website and there doesn't appear to be any better options. I'm not exactly understanding how this is an upgrade from the stock display!???? I dont get it!
Retired at 49 just allows you to be tracked gps by the cops. Upgrade!🤨

It's cool and nice, but it ain't $1000.00 cool and nice....
That looks a bit dark
Should be called, how to get your old fox tracked by gps. 😐
To much work and also the stock one looks way better
700$ waste of money, or just trying to "be about something"
to much trouble .
Did anyone really take 6 to 8 hours ?????? If so it will take me all winter. Lol
I try to over estimate the time so you are happy when you get done faster. The wiring is tedious.
This gauge is hideous looking lol you just went from better to worse
Once all of this is complete and you want to go the gps route do you remove the speedo all together?
Yes you can remove the speedo and put a delete plug in the trans
