    You don't need to find something big. You can use small pieces of stock placed along the line. I use this trick all the time. You just stack them as high as you need around the o-ring/seal/bearing and then put your plate on top, and voila you're done.
    My recommendation: get used gauge blocks. That way you'll have equal height all along, but flat stock works just as fine as long as you deburr the edges.

    we are replacing the seals bearing in the hub, any help in regards to getting the stub to snap into the ring inside the yolk. ?

    I'm replacing the seal behind the sun shaft bushing, I'm also putting in new bushing but the sun shaft still has a little wobble in the bushing....is this correct? Thanks

    The tension spring behind the seal looks like it is out 3:36, I may be wrong.
