1930s/40s actress Marlene Dietrich had tiny braids put around her front hairline. Then she would have them pulled back and put under her wig. Instant upper facelift.
I have to be honest, I've never heard anyone say a ponytail is for women of a certain age. I feel like it's a timeless style. My Mom is 73 and wears her hair in a low ponytail every day and it looks perfectly fine. Love all your hairstyles, even the sleek and very straight look =) Really enjoy your videos! Thanks!! xo
I agree, Lynn! I don't think there is any age limit for wearing a ponytail, but I hear it in the comments all the time. So many people comment that they (or I) am too old for a ponytail. I'm with you! xo
I loved this! I am 62 with medium length hair and I use all of these styles! The thing that changes the look a bit at 62 is that gosh darn droopy neck and those softer jaw lines. 🥴 I try REALLY hard not to let that hold me back from putting my hair up in ponytails and buns. My husband claims no one notices that stuff when my hair is up. I’ll choose to believe him!! Thank you for empowering women to be their best! You are just a doll.
Miss ma'am you are surely beautiful, I find my wrinkles and scars are just part of my life's journey. So keep wearing your hair however you want, and be PROUD of the story your body tells because you're still here! God Bless you!!! ❤❤❤❤
Love this! Thank you for sharing. For my fine thin hair I’ve found that with a blonde colored corduroy scrunchy that matches my hair, it adds volume to my low messy bun that I wear quite often. The color match and the lines give a great illusion that it’s all hair. Just thought I would share for my thin haired sisters! Thank you!
Debbie J. Have you considered or are you interested in oils that can improve scalp health and mitigate damage to the strands? I’ve started a scalp and strand oil treatment to improve my hair overall. So far so good.
Dutch braids! One of my biggest accomplishments during the pandemic, I finally learned how to do them. Whenever I wear braids I get compliments on how young I look.
I like all of the hairstyles, even the straight one. You have lovely hair. I am 73 and don't have a problem with hair up styles or anything. I wish my hair was thicker but sometimes I add a scrunchie extension.
I am in my 40's and being a single Mum, now, due to loss of a husband and home due to domestic violence, and always in a hurry, I tend to overdo the loose up bun with a few wispy at the front. I was born with dark brown hair...which used to go lighter, with natural highlights in the Summer months as a, 20 something, teenager and a child. I too noticed that my hair is thinner as I grow..older...and I have never really coloured my hair...but there are some greys, here and there. I will try the virtual try-on hair colours, as you suggested. I should probably wear my hair out more...but I worry having longish hair over 40' s kind of ageing and," pulls my face down"...so I started pulling it up into a loose bun, as you suggested. With Covid, I have not had a chance to visit a hairdresser. Actually, due to homelessness and other tragedies, I am ashamed to say I have not visited a hairdresser in years. My son and I are no longer homeless, and when Covid restrictions allow, I will try to save some money to visit a proper hairdresser. All my money currently goes on food, rent, bills, schooling, and things that my son needs. When I was younger I could just count on my looks being there...if you know what I mean...but boy do things change when you hit 40. You have given me the inspiration to invest some time and what I can spare in some savings into changing up my hair..and maybe getting a professional opinion on hair colouring etc...thank you from Australia.
Thank you for writing and sharing your story with me, Trudy! I'm glad that you and your son are doing well now. I wish you the best of luck moving forward. I think a bun is a great look especially if you haven't had a cut in a while. When your situation allows, find a stylist that will give you a cut and pick whatever length you like that makes your hair look healthy. You can still have long hair over 40 if that's what you like...I do! xo
Thanks for the tips! I am 57, wearing a ponytail, messy buns and take advantage of naturally wavy hair, a lot. Keep the ideas coming and it’s nice to see so many wise women wearing their hair in a way that makes them feel good!
Haha...nothing wrong with looking my age! I rock my age; 46 years young and proud of it...every year is a blessing people - be grateful if you reach old age! Plenty of folks will never make old bones! God bless 😘
I'm also 46 and totally embrace my age. So many women wear hairstyles that age them unnecessarily and I often get comments asking for help. I shared my go to hairstyles to help those who have asked, not to tell women that they need to look younger.
@@BusbeeStyle So sweet of you to have replied dear. I liked all the styles you showed. My summertime favourites are elegant buns or braids on one side and long flowy hair on the other side (similar to Lisa Bilyeu). And its not the style of hair or clothes that makes us women look old, its our attitude that ages us! God bless 😘
Nadiene Gatt Muscat A youthful attitude is a wonderful thing, but if we’re talking visual cues, clothes and hair absolutely have an effect on either making you appear younger or older. Regardless of age, most of us just want to look better. Women who don’t care about any of this don’t spend time watching these types of videos...and that’s ok too.
I do a very high ponytail and use a medium claw clip to clip the base of the pony (from underneath) to the hair close to my scalp. That lifts the pony and makes it look like a waterfall, giving the illusion of having more hair. It looks more youthful, on me, than a very sleek ponytail.
On the JOY train, Woot Woot!!😂 Just wanted to mention products can be so important with these hairstyles. I love the big volume, teased look but don't like teasing. I use Big Sexy Hair Power Play hair powder. It's like teasing in a bottle. Also when doing loose curls, I spray the hair with Aveda Air Control hairspray prior to curling to hold the curl. Then lightly comb with fingers and use Oribe Texturizing spray for added volume. Last thing, with a pony, make sure you are using good quality hair ties that don't damage the hair. I like thin silk scrunchies. Thanks, Erin!💜
I am 68 yrs. old and often wear a high pony. To give it a little lift, one of the techniques I use is to place a small clear clip under the ponytail. I also tease it a bit for a little volume. I do use the messy bun either high or low. I love the pony and the bun on those steamy, hot days, rainy days, and those times when I just don’t feel like putting a lot of time or effort into my hairstyle but still want to look a little chic or edgy! I LOVE having long hair as it gives me so many options for different looks. I can’t imagine having the same short hairstyle every day like I did throughout my mid 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s. I have so much fun with hair style and clothing now more than ever, and thanks to channels like yours, I can find ways to tweak my look to present the best me possible! Thanks, Erin, for all of your great tips!
Thank you for permission to wear a ponytail, and for such easy ways to look younger. You are helping so many people to feel better in their own skin and to be happy with natural beauty. Very down to earth and simple tips anyone can handle.
Me too. I have a head full of tight corkscrew curls that are always in a messy bun until the lower humidity of fall comes and then I love my Revlon round brush blow out dryer. Suddenly having long, wavy, bouncy, smooth, flowy hair makes me feel like I’m in my twenties again! What a difference! I just wish tight corkscrew curls would be in style so I can always feel young and pretty!😂
Love the messy bun!!!! I was reading comments and I think some people misinterpret what you’re saying. Long, flat and straight are good for the young girls...they aren’t even thinking age yet. Ladies need to realize change is good...including hairstyles, make-up and styles. It’s a good thing❤️
I like these! Gentler hair options (I think?) whether hair has damage or not: replace standard hairband with scrunchie, claw clip, bobby pins, or those no-pull plastic hairbands. And can sleep in no-heat styles that add wave, like braids or twists. Also I'm looking into treating hair with flax seed gel and dying with henna/cassia/indigo/amla.
Great video. I’m 55 with naturally curly hair (1 inch coils). All my life until about a year ago I straightened it thinking it looked more professional and elegant. Since going curly I receive so many compliments and my hair is so much healthier. By the way, my hair is about 2 inches past my shoulders and I plan to let grow at least halfway down my back. I can also wear a ponytail or simply a loose tie at the neck. In my opinion age does not matter regarding what length you should wear your hair. The shape of your face, type of hair, health of hair and your personality are deciding factors.
Hi. I just saw the video of 5 styles that will help you look younger & I enjoyed it. I am almost 71 yrs. young ( nobody thinks I'm over 60 ) and my hair is long, almost 1/2 way down my back. I love my long hair. I will try doing a few of these styles shown. Thank You for this fun video. 😁
Finally, a mature lady who speaks smartly, directly, and with a fun attitude. Love it and easy to watch. It is so refreshing to talk about being a girl and not make it superficial and flighty.
I'm 75 and I live in Texas. The pony tail is still my "go to" to get my hair up off my neck in the Texas Heat. It has been 106 degrees here. I have several clips and hair decor to dress it up. My hair is silver. I use a silver fabric pony tail band that is stunning. Great ideas on the hair styles. Thank you for a great video.
So glad you enjoyed this one! Have you seen my more recent hair styles video? You might enjoy these super easy looks too: ua-cam.com/video/eZ_wWExrXlM/v-deo.html xo
Great topic! This is exactly why I started embracing my naturally curly hair again. For many many years I fell into the straight hair trend using the flat iron to achieve that look. Then when I turned 50 I said to myself “why”🤷♀️? I never really liked that look on me, and as I got older it made my face look to harsh. So I leaned how to style my curls and I never looked back. Try it curlfriends! 👌✌️👍
Busbee Style It took a lot of practice styling the curls and figuring out what products work best to promote my curls. Yes, you are right it does take less time too.😀
These look fun! I keep my hair in braids for most of the summer. Right now I've got two stacked braids (like the half up, pulled back from face, one on top of the other). Also do a braid either side of head with a roll by face. Braids keep my hair cool and tidy, with the side bene of mermaid waves when I let it out. Also sleep with 1-4 small buns on crown of head, for a different type of wave the next morning.
@@BusbeeStyle sometimes I look like an extra from Vikings, but hey, it works for me! 😆 I'm actually not sure why more people don't wear braids. Possibly bc they don't involve an expensive styling tool or product... where no sales are to be made, a style dies? But they're super practical, don't damage the hair and add an interesting texture. Thx for your support! 🌱
Love these styles! I'm an ex cosmetologist..so always dying to get my hands on some peoples hair! Fun to watch you all these years! I remember your Texas hair!
Love your tips and tricks x As a child I had a sensitive scalp in my late 20's a natropath found I had high amalgam levels. Got the heavy metals out... my memory was so much better and no more sensitive scalp, hope this helps your daughter and you can do her hair soon 🌺
Love this tutorial ❤& many others of yours. Saved all my favorites! You have helped me learn to get out the door FAST, but without sacrificing looking put together & trendy! I'm 48 yrs young & i feel your tips have saved me from LOOKING 48!!! I get compliments each time I use your suggestions! THANK YOU for what you do. 😁
I apparently really needed this video! 😂 I curled my hair the way you showed and followed your directions. I looked updated and current but not like 1980s curled hair. Awesome thank you
A lot of people would look younger (if that is a goal - definitely not for me, I'm happy at my age) is to cut their hair! So many people cling to long hair as they think it makes them look young, where a shorter cut would look so much better. The thing I am so over is the "beachy" wave - which most often looks "bent" and weird, and middle parts! A side part is so much more flattering, especially with angular features. Think the first style looked the best.
I think hair length is such a personal decision. Some women definitely look younger with shorter hair, but I don't think there is anything wrong with keeping it longer as long as it's well taken care of. I cut my hair last year and I loved it, but I also enjoy this longer length. xo
I agree about the middle part, side part is flattering for everyone! I get the long hair remark, but I don’t look good with short hair. Makes my face look too long! Long facial shapes need fullness on the side with texture like beachy waves.
Side parts are pretty old fashioned now. Just off centre is younger if you have longer hair. Short cuts do tend to age people look at older people they pretty much all have short cuts and before then a bob. Totally agree very long hair can more ageing anything below the bra strap
Length is personal. Since I turned forty (in now 53), I've had hair every length -- from pixie to tailbone length. I look terrible with short hair! My best length is what I call "medium length" hair (what most people call "long hair") -- just past my shoulders to waist length. Any longer and I have to wear my hair braided and/or in a bun.
Hi, I just found your channel via Google for you page. I'm going to try all of your suggestions. The funny thing is I was a licensed hair stylist back in the 90's but I can't do that #5 style to save my life!!! I go for the messy look and end up looking like miss cruchball from that movie Matilda 🤣 hopefully your videos will help me I'm sure. Thank you for making this one for us gals trying to keep our youth with long hair. I'm 52 and a comedian so I need to look my best and I never know what to do with my hair. I do now 😊💜💚💛
It is refreshing to go to a channel that is filled with positive vibes where we can relax and enjoy ourselves. Thank you for that and for the lovely hair styles.
Hi Erin 💞💞 You are a so positive person, so there is no negativity in this community!!! My favourite hair styles for you is half up and pony tail cause when you have your hair back, your face is clear and you are so beautiful!!! When I had my hair longer than now (almost where my arm is) I preferred the half up and ponytail, but the last year I prefer a very short frame haircut cause my natural hair is wavy and I want to have volume!! Thanks for the tips 😘😘 kisses from Greece 💚💙💜💛
Cheers to the joy train! Your positive energy and light set the tone, Erin 💕 I keep my long layered hair in a messy bun when I'm at home, comfortable and out of the way ;)
I’m 53 and have tried most of those hairstyles but my goal is to look older and more “grown up.” I’m petite as well and when I have my hair up in a ponytail or bun it just makes me look younger. I’m thinking of getting my longer hair cut into a more age appropriate style. I’m not young anymore and don’t want to look that way. I’m proud of my age and greys.
These were some great ideas for most people. I can't wear anything in my hair because I hate the way it feels so I normally always wear my hair down. I also prefer my hair straight over wavy.. My hair pretty much looks like your before pic except a few angled pieces on the side. I have straight and smooth hair, but always get compliments and people think I'm younger than my actual age of 45. I think its because I have well done professional highlights, shiny, and extremely healthy hair. I also think you have beautiful hair and it looks fantastic in your before pics😘
Erin, would be great if you would feature curly hair styles for women of different ages! My hair is the color of yours but very curly and thick, so things like a natural pony style give me a big curly pom pom out the back. Chic and polished not as easy with super curly hair ty dearie
Love them all, but I am totally into the loose waves at the moment...I have been doing the heatless curls using a fluffy robe tie\sash method that is talked about a lot here on YT...I was skeptical and it does take some practice to get it right/getting used to sleeping on, but it is a time saver the morning and looks cute for days.
Hi Erin Your fashion n makeup tips n style is awesome n magnificent. I've been following your style n tips over the years n feel its the best thing that has happened to me. I live in Mumbai. In the recent years on line shopping has changed the fashion scene. Ok course the hats are dated n rarely blazers or jackets are worn here since our humidity is very high n the rains heavy to very heavy. I for one always dream of wearing a black or a blue blazer. I've seen beautiful ones like the ones you wear n look gorgeous. My size is 38-31-38 with a slight tummy. Height 5.4 but very slender legs n arms. How do I select a blazer one size larger or smaller. Please help. I'm your very big fan Thank you for making styling so simple yet chic elegant n sophisticated
I'm so lazy when it comes to hair. I have really sleek hair and any kind of curling never sticks. Even the hairdressers aren't able to. Last time I was there they did have a neat product to get some volume at the root of your hair. It's some kind of powder you put on, instead of teasing your hair. Works really well. I've done it with my hair loose, but I think it will work great with the poofing you showed for the ponytail as well. Will definitely try that!
I'm 51 and a ponytail is my signature look, especially because it's an easy go-to because I'm a preschool teacher. I want to try wearing a top not and the messy bun to work. I wear messy buns a lot at home. I really should curl my hair more it's just so hot here in Florida to wear hair down right now. Great video, thanks ☺️
These are great. I have the reverse.... I have the natural curl so I used to straighten a lot, however now I tend to just enjoy my hair for what it is 😊
.... I had a hairstylist,( when I lived in Vegas, went to Cleopatra's Salon for years ) she said to me ... " Youthful hair has shape and movement, even if it's subtle movement", and I never forgot that ! She said teasing ones hair isn't harmful if you're gentle and don't do it everyday. Great tips , Miss Erin! Have a safe and lovely Holiday Weekend. 💛🙏🏻🙂
This was fun 😊 I’m the opposite I’m a lazy hair lady . Having longer hair . I always start my high bun with a super high pony tail and use pins . Have slight baldness on one side, I pull out wispy pieces . I have some layers in front . 💐
I actually love a sleek parted low bun or partially pulled through low pony. But your styles are all great options! I feel like some styles we wore as kids, without any styling tools or structured cuts that take effort, just natural, are still most youthful. Pony, half-ups, buns,,,,one length,,,,,healthy simple hair is youthful.
This is so useful. I love doing my hair too and trying to find a balance between not to look too young and mature. I’m really short and sometimes in my job, looking young gives the impression of inexperience. I never thought of teasing my hair. Will definitely try it.
YES! I learned that about hair color within the past couple of years! Too blonde without a little low-light thrown in for depth definitely ages me! Great video!
I did that exact same thing! Lol! I'm so grateful I've come across this tutorial. Usually when I want my hair to look wonderful, I have to shampoo and do the whole nine yards, which takes me forever. These simple styles offer effortless beauty.
To make curling your hair easier, put all the hair in front of your head up in a clip and curl the hair at the back first letting down small sections as you go, this way you aren’t fighting with the top sections of hair trying to keep them out of the way. 💕
Great tips - I'm almost always wearing a ponytail because my job (periodontist's assistant) has me working with patients and instruments all day and I can't have my hair getting in the way. I like the front pouf you showed and will try to work on that! Also, your messy bun is very flattering on you! I also twist my hair and put it up with a claw clip with a fun little messy part on top, if that makes sense. It's really easy, pulls the look up and is great for wet hair. XO
I'm 56, medium length hair, and I have a pony tail as I type this. Its 91 degrees outside today in Virginia and I NEED to keep cool! Love these videos!
You are Fabulous!! You are One of My Most Favorite Bloggers, UA-camrs, Instagrammer....etc and so forth!! I'm 61 and have LONG HAIR. Oh that may be a SIN to some. You know, not trying to act my age..., it is a look that suits me best. I go by facial shape, and for me longer is more flattering. All the styles you have shown here, are very flattering for all. Keeping hair is good condition is YOUTHFUL, scraggly, dry and frizzy NOT. You are The Bomb Erin!! xo Let's ALL JUMP on the JOY Train!! lol
Great tutorial! I'm going to try all 3 updos, I've been wearing my hair in a side pony tail and that seems to be a better look for me, but the messy bun might be fun. I'm 70.
I think the key to hair is to go slightly lighter in color every 10 years....that's what my beautician told me...especially after 50. Loved the video and the ponytail was my fav.
Dear Erin, I hope you can help me with something. I've learned a lot from you over the past few years that I've been watching your channel. I realize that my question may not be something that a lot of people are experiencing and you may not have much time to answer my questions. Sometimes---especially as we get older--there are medical situations that impact our lives and make it much harder if not impossible to look good. This can cause us to loose a lot of self-confidence. Let me explain. I am 52 years old and I was very thin for a good part of my life---until about age 40. I began to have chronic pain, but I continued to work even when a lot of folks probably would have given up. However, it became harder and harder to look good. But your channel helped me by finding some style uniforms that I could put together every week to take all the decision-making out of most of my mornings. Over the past several years I noticed a lot of swelling that was happening, but at the time I thought I was gaining weight. No amount of dieting worked and my fingers, toes, feet and hands started swelling. I used to wear a size narrow 7.5 shoe and now I'm wearing a size eight medium which is starting to feel very tight. My doctor referred me to a Rheumatologist who said I have three autoimmune diseases that cause a large amount of swelling in the body and this is the reason that my feet and the rest of my body is changing. I also have a huge amount of hair loss which I try to hide because this is another blow to my self-esteem. I know that none of us can turn back time and some of us are blessed with better genes and some of us will have more sickness in life. However, it's extremely hard when we want to dress nicely and the chronic pain that we experience makes it harder and harder to look like the best version of ourselves.
Please keep your chin up & continue “ fighting” to be the best you possible -know you are not alone! It is said that your smile is the most youthful & uplifting thing of all. If you share it with someone you may feel better & make their day as well🙂💜
I really think this is a great length. You can do so many different styles. I have this length and living in Florida it is so easy to put up. Thanks for a great video.
Thank you Erin for this very useful guidance and easy to follow advise on a more flattering hairstyle for someone 40+. I will definitely be trying these styles out and have a 14 year old daughter who I know will be happy to assist and advise me!! I am finding your videos very enlightening and appreciate that your advice is given in a non- judgemental and non-patronising way. Best Wishes and Greetings from Australia, Rebecca
Just cut a very small amount fringy bangs this morning that I wear to the side. It is amazing how it covered up my forehead a bit and made my hairstyle less dramatic. I think it makes me look younger! Woohoo!
Hi! This video was inspiring. The messy updo was actually my favorite. I respect your style expertise and enjoy your videos. I would really appreciate a video showcasing glamorous prescription eye wear (not just reading glasses) and the effect eye glasses have on a person's style. Most of your audience probably wear glasses, so a video geared just for eyeglasses might be useful. I got it wrong with my last prescription, but glasses are too expensive to just go in and get a new pair. With your expertise, I can get the correct eye wear with my next prescription. Help me get it right this time!
I have thin, fine white hair which looks the best in a Bob. Trying like H@LL not to cut it all off as my sons wedding is in a month. Been tempted to buy a topper to ad volume but trying to find a color match is near impossible! Can’t SKIP this one as while this ones not for me but enjoy your tips & tricks.
Thank you, Shirlyn! I'm glad you enjoyed this and congratulations on your son's wedding. I wouldn't do anything drastic before the wedding. You may also like this video where I style a bob: ua-cam.com/video/lMBpetkZeQA/v-deo.html
Hi, Erin! Thanks so much for sharing your great style & attitude with us. So glad I've found your channel! I live in a very rural area in SD & am outside in all seasons on the ranch. How do you suggest styling baseball caps or stocking hats & the like and still look stylish? How to style a cute cap with an outfit that compliments best? I'm guilty of being too matchy-matchy, I think (my teens told me it's not cool anymore). Help!
Welcome! SO glad you found me. I don't typically wear a lot of baseball or stocking hats, but your kids are correct...don't be too matchy matchy. I have a recent video with lots of tips for staying warm while still looking stylish. I'll link it here for you: ua-cam.com/video/wOHS7Q6ktXw/v-deo.html
I did #2 after washing my hair tonight. My curling iron broke so will need a new one to do that one, can't wait to try it because I'm usually a side part girl.
Hi Erin. Gorgeous hair dos. Must admit some time ago I just cut mine short (had long hair my whole life). Turns out it suits me greatly. Thanks for the tips!
Great video !! thanks for sharing Erin .the curling my hair I find hard to get right so thinking of investing in the new revamp product thats out now to help with curling ..
I’m 59 and and feel that a pony tail is a cheap facelift. It draws the eye up, and the face up. I’ll wear one as long as I have hair.😂
Pull it super tight! LOL
Good for you
1930s/40s actress Marlene Dietrich had tiny braids put around her front hairline. Then she would have them pulled back and put under her wig. Instant upper facelift.
I am in my 70s and wear a ponytail and a baseball cap when I go for walks.
May u have healthier and fuller hair always💖💐🤗
I have to be honest, I've never heard anyone say a ponytail is for women of a certain age. I feel like it's a timeless style. Thank you!
Thank you! Great tip! xo
Great tip!!
Love that idea! Plus scrunched are easier on hair than standard hairballs are.
Erin, I’m 63 and mostly wear my hair up, in a ponytail or a messy bun. It’s simple, neat, chic and youthful. 👍
Love that! xo
I am 68 and getting tired of my longer hair! I always wear it in a low pony tail. I have thinning in the front which limits my hairdos.
Debbie J. Have you considered or are you interested in oils that can improve scalp health and mitigate damage to the strands? I’ve started a scalp and strand oil treatment to improve my hair overall. So far so good.
Me too
I love the waves! I'm 54 and don't wear my hair up often. I think I'll give it a try! Thank you for keeping the community positive and safe!!!
Dutch braids! One of my biggest accomplishments during the pandemic, I finally learned how to do them. Whenever I wear braids I get compliments on how young I look.

Woohoo! Love them too!
I like all of the hairstyles, even the straight one.
You have lovely hair.
I am 73 and don't have a problem with hair up styles or anything.
I wish my hair was thicker but sometimes I add a scrunchie extension.

Love that, Teresa! xo

You can still have long hair over 40 if that's what you like...I do! xo
I'm 40 with long black hair and I almost always like using up knots. Easy hair style for a busy mom
Thanks for the tips! I am 57, wearing a ponytail, messy buns and take advantage of naturally wavy hair, a lot. Keep the ideas coming and it’s nice to see so many wise women wearing their hair in a way that makes them feel good!
You're so welcome, Theresa! xo
Take good care of yourself because the 60's are a shocker!
Nadiene Gatt Muscat 50 is the new 30!
I do a very high ponytail and use a medium claw clip to clip the base of the pony (from underneath) to the hair close to my scalp. That lifts the pony and makes it look like a waterfall, giving the illusion of having more hair. It looks more youthful, on me, than a very sleek ponytail.
That's a great idea! Thank you for sharing! xo
Great suggestions, Linda! Thank you for sharing! xo
Yes I use powder too for volume at the roots. I used to back comb years ago. There are a lot of great products for this!
Thanks for encouraging people to be positive. It’s nice to get away from the negativity that you find so often on social media.
I couldn't agree more! Thank you, Susan! xo
Great ideas! 58 here and I love a high pony especially when I'm golfing! Thank you!
Thank you! That's awesome! xo
You're SO welcome, Mona! Thanks for sharing! xo
Thank you for permission to wear a ponytail, and for such easy ways to look younger. You are helping so many people to feel better in their own skin and to be happy with natural beauty. Very down to earth and simple tips anyone can handle.
Thank you! I have a video coming in two weeks showing you 5 of my favorite quick and easy up dos. Stay tuned! xo
I have curly hair , messy bun is my go to.
I'm 54. My mom hated doing hair even just brushing was beyond her. How ironic. You are the hair mom I always wished for.
You are SO sweet, Melanie! xo
Same
Great video.
I agree...Length is a personal decision! I think curls are beautiful. I'm so glad that you are loving it. xo
On the joy train! All the way true! I like the pony tail and the loose ways. They are my go to!
At 70, Im still "pony tailing." 😊
That's awesome! I hope to be too! xo
Me too!
Yep @67. Yrs young
I probably will be too. Don't see any reason not to! :)
I was wondering what to do with my hair before going outside yard work. Perfect timing to have this video show up! So I subscribed today. Thanks😍
Welcome! SO glad you found my channel and that you're enjoying my videos! xo
Just turned 61 but feel and look way younger. I do all of those and get many compliments. Thanks for another awesome video.
That is awesome! You're so welcome! xo
Thank you, Janet! Couldn't agree more! I bet your curls look amazing and I'm sure it takes less time! xo
Busbee Style It took a lot of practice styling the curls and figuring out what products work best to promote my curls. Yes, you are right it does take less time too.😀
Me too. Used to hate my pale, thick wavy hair but it's far better than stringy old cat lady hair ;)
Niiiice! A lovely salon owner always gave this advice: Bangs or Botox.
Thank you! Your braids sound awesome, Laurie! xo
I love braids and braided buns. I also don't know why more women don't wear them - they hold all day and make great braid waves once they dry.
Love these styles! I'm an ex cosmetologist..so always dying to get my hands on some peoples hair! Fun to watch you all these years! I remember your Texas hair!
Love your tips and tricks x
As a child I had a sensitive scalp in my late 20's a natropath found I had high amalgam levels. Got the heavy metals out... my memory was so much better and no more sensitive scalp, hope this helps your daughter and you can do her hair soon 🌺
Thank you for sharing, Jess! xo
How did you get the heavy metals out? You mean you got the amalgams out?
@@szee8588 there are a couple of different methods. For anyone interested, try searching for "heavy metal detox" programs and practitioners.
I'm so glad this was helpful, Susan! xo
I love the ponytail and wear either a high or a low one often, but I am going to branch out and try the topknot. Thanks Erin, you are an inspiration!
I apparently really needed this video! 😂 I curled my hair the way you showed and followed your directions. I looked updated and current but not like 1980s curled hair. Awesome thank you
I'm so glad! That's amazing, Lindsay! xo
I cut my hair last year and I loved it, but I also enjoy this longer length. xo
Busbee Style True - absolutely. You see many more short haircuts in Europe - and they
always look so chic. Just an observation - whatever works !
I do now 😊💜💚💛
Welcome! I'm SO glad you found me and found this one helpful.. :D What an interesting and fun job you have! xo
You are so sweet! Thank you! xo
Cheers to the joy train! Your positive energy and light set the tone, Erin 💕 I keep my long layered hair in a messy bun when I'm at home, comfortable and out of the way ;)
Love that! Thank you for being on the joy train with me, Kelly! xo
Even with my short bob, I still can utilize some of these tips. Great tutorial 🖤
That's great! I bet you can. You may also like this video where I style a bob: ua-cam.com/video/lMBpetkZeQA/v-deo.html
Thank you! You have to do what's best for you. Healthy hair is the most important part of looking youthful! xo
100% agree on the teasing. It definitely makes you look younger
Thank you for another great video!I love that you show before and after side-by-side in the same frame. Really helps!
Since a discovered how to curl my hair I look younger... life changing! The community is awesome 😎
Erin, would be great if you would feature curly hair styles for women of different ages! My hair is the color of yours but very curly and thick, so things like a natural pony style give me a big curly pom pom out the back. Chic and polished not as easy with super curly hair ty dearie
To be honest, that sounds cute and chic to me. I love that type of pony tail.
I'm so glad, Kelly! I have seen those videos...so glad that's working for you. xo
Thank you, Tracy! Just play around with different styles...it's fun to change it up a bit! I do love a ponytail too! xo
These are great. I have the reverse.... I have the natural curl so I used to straighten a lot, however now I tend to just enjoy my hair for what it is 😊
That's great! Thanks for sharing! xo
Same here! from fellow curlygirl 😀
I couldn't agree more! Thank you for sharing...such a great way to phrase it. xo
This was fun 😊 I’m the opposite I’m a lazy hair lady . Having longer hair . I always start my high bun with a super high pony tail and use pins . Have slight baldness on one side, I pull out wispy pieces . I have some layers in front . 💐
Great tips Erin. Just changing your hairstyle from time to time makes you feel and look younger, I think it helps the health of the hair too!
It sure does, Juliana! xo
Love all the looks, but my favorite is the half pulled back on top. It looks sophisticated and fresh. Much love and happiness, Teresa
I wear the high top knot or high messy bun a lot. It also has the added benefit of subtlety giving you an eye lift.
So true! I love that look, Erin! xo
Thank you so much! The low bun looks sleek and fabulous! I was just trying to give some other options. xo
This is so useful. I love doing my hair too and trying to find a balance between not to look too young and mature. I’m really short and sometimes in my job, looking young gives the impression of inexperience. I never thought of teasing my hair. Will definitely try it.
I'm so glad you found this helpful! xo
How about a mid length , just above the shoulders hairstyles !
Heck ya to that ponytail!! If it is tight enough then it pulls your skin, a more natural 😌facelift!
Hi Erin! So glad I found you. At 64, still loving my pony with hair wrap and perfecting the messy updo. Love your videos.
Yay! Thank you, Maureen! xo
YES! I learned that about hair color within the past couple of years! Too blonde without a little low-light thrown in for depth definitely ages me! Great video!
That sounds great, Lisa! So glad you liked this one! xo
Thank you Erin 🌸 I took you into my bathroom and we did our hair together. I did the first one , teased my crown, a little spray and Presto 😃👍🏼👍🏼
Yay! Love that! How fun! xo
@@BusbeeStyle haha yes it was fun indeed 💝
XO
Thank you, Tracy! I'm so glad you liked this! xo
Yes I often use claw clips too, seems easier on hair than standard hairbands
You are The Bomb Erin!! xo Let's ALL JUMP on the JOY Train!! lol
Thank you so much, Laura! That is so sweet! xo
Great tutorial! I'm going to try all 3 updos, I've been wearing my hair in a side pony tail and that seems to be a better look for me, but the messy bun might be fun. I'm 70.
Give it a try! Sometimes it's fun to just play around and try something new! xo
I think the key to hair is to go slightly lighter in color every 10 years....that's what my beautician told me...especially after 50. Loved the video and the ponytail was my fav.
just tried back combing my flat hair...what a difference! and so easy! Thank yu!!
You are so welcome, Katey! xo
You are a great hair stylist...It has been in the 90s here so I started wearing the messy top bun....gotten a lot of compliments...Thanks to u..💖
That's amazing, Rita! Thank you! xo
So glad you enjoyed this video, Rachel! Thanks for watching. xo
Great video! I like them all! I’m 54 and I do most of these styles often. Since I work in the medical field I probably do the sleek topknot the most.
Greetings from Brazil! I'm 64, have a pretty much low-maintenance approach to fashion and style and love your videos! Thanks for the great tips!
You are so welcome, Inara! xo
Thanks for your motivation! I added a few long extensions to the top and made space balls, very youthful and fun 😇
Sounds great, Robin! xo
Love the joy train!! The half up is often my go to because it’s hair out of the eyes but not showing all the underneath roots.
Thanks for being on the joy train with me! xo
Woot woot! I do all five of these already. Guess I'm on the right hair style track! Thanks, Erin.
Perfect! You are definitely on the right track! xo
I LOVE being a part of The Hive on FB. It's the most positive, fun, stress-free thing about my feed right now. ❤
That's amazing! I really appreciate your feedback and I'm so glad you are enjoying it! xo
You are so welcome! I'm so glad you are finding my videos helpful, Rebecca! xo
Just cut a very small amount fringy bangs this morning that I wear to the side. It is amazing how it covered up my forehead a bit and made my hairstyle less dramatic. I think it makes me look younger! Woohoo!
Great job, Mim! xo
Straight and sleek for me, it's what my hair do best and I embrace it.
My hair is in ponytails almost every day. Nice fast way of doing your hair. Was looking for a curling iron like that.
Thank you, Carrie! Love that suggestion! xo
Great video! I have tried the messy bun so many times and it never looks right! I think it is a cute and easy-looking everyday look.
Thank you! It does take a bit of practice to get right. xo
You are so awesome. I love your honesty and your style.
Thank you, Jackie! xo

Love the loose bun. Would need to practice doing that style.
Thank you, Julianne! Give it a try! xo
Loose buns look really nice😎
Yes, you are a joyful soul Erin. I smile throughout your videos.
Oh thank you! That is so sweet of you! xo
I did #2 after washing my hair tonight. My curling iron broke so will need a new one to do that one, can't wait to try it because I'm usually a side part girl.
Love that you are giving the tips a try. It's fun to change things up! xo
I love all these but i also really love the stick straight!!
Thank you, Anne! xo
Hi Erin. Gorgeous hair dos. Must admit some time ago I just cut mine short (had long hair my whole life). Turns out it suits me greatly. Thanks for the tips!
That's great, Ekaterina! Sometimes it is hard to take the plunge and go short, but I'm so glad that it worked for you! xo
I am in my 60s and wear a ponytail. It looks youthful and you can make it casual sporty or glamorous.
54 and love wearing my ponytail 💃
Yay! I love a ponytail on women of all ages! xo
ROCK that Tail!!!
