All I want is cool art made by humans that are compensated fairly for their labor. This should be the bare minimum.

I think Fran Drescher is expressing the correct level of indignation on behalf of the majority of working actors, not the ScarJos of her world.

      Absolutely

Why would ScarJo not also be indignant? Wasn't she one of the most prominent actors to get screwed by streaming when Black Widow went to Disney Plus?

Would also like to mention that this doesn't just impact the film and TV industry. The local businesses surrounding the studios rely heavily on the patronage of these artists. The effects are rippling throughout LA.

Thanks for showing that clip. I think Fran Dresher was channeling Nancy Pelosi. Good for her. #SolidarityForever

Thanks for the great sum-up, Dave. Good to get your take on it and cut through the noise.

Great video as always, really informative. Fran making the case for labor up there with her accent reminded me a little of Bernie Sanders. Both fighting the good fight, labor is threatened in many industries (as Fran mentions) and these executives will never willingly protect the actual talent. Securing job safety and livelihoods will always require a fight and whether it’s SAG or WGA or Starbucks and Amazon, I support the strike and the workers.

A change is definitely coming, that’s for sure.

It's especially notable how upset Fran Drescher is given that early in the WGA strike she was slammed for not being supportive enough of the WGA in her sound bites.

Every day the way the AMPTP behaves makes the decision of the DGA not to strike with their writer and actor brethren more inexplicable.

I fully support the writers and the actors and I hope they get a fair deal sooner rather than later.
But on the other hand I would like this strike to go on for a while just to see what happens in 12+ months or so when the consequences of these strikes really will be felt.
Maybe these strikes will get us the shakeup and reset that I think it needs.

It would be a very interesting economic case study, but for the sake of the livelihoods of all the people involved, I hope that doesn't happen.

I'm already over seeing CGI actors in live action movies. It's always distracting. It never looks good. I don't even like de-aging, but that's not as bad. The idea that studios could scan an actor and only pay them once is pretty crazy.

The irony of late stage Reaganomics, considering that he went from profiting from Union membership to being a Union busting POS via his rampant, and catastrophic acts of deregulation, coming home to roost in Hollywood is a story that I'll probably have ChatGPT write real quick, to flip to Netflix 🤣😭
