Kate Beckinsale early established herself playing in classic and literary adaptations, some with an Austen pedigree. While still a student at Oxford she played opposite Robert Sean Leonard as “Hero” in Kenneth Branagh’s version of Much Ado About Nothing. She also won the title role in the widely admired British mini-series adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma and particular notice for her performance in John Schlesinger’s version of the Emma update, Cold Comfort Farm.
“It was from Cold Comfort Farm that I thought Kate would be perfect for the Charlotte character in The Last Days of Disco,” Stillman says, “and her role in the Schlesinger film was essentially Austen-derived. It was the first time I wrote a part with a particular actor in mind.
The Last Days of Disco would be Kate’s first American role, winning her the London Film Critics’ “Best Supporting Actress” award, and leading to stardom in America in a series of notable films including Michael Bay’s epic Pearl Harbor, the hit romantic comedy Serendipity opposite John Cusack, and the ensemble drama, Laurel Canyon, with Christian Bale and Frances McDormand.
Then began her remarkable run as the iconic action hero ‘Selene’ in the Underworld series for which she has recently completed the shoot for a fifth installment, focusing its story on the next generation of Vampires and Lycans and the war that continues to wage between the two species.
Her additional film credits include her early British film Shooting Fish, Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator, Contraband, Total Recall, Everybody’s Fine, the thriller Vacancy, Click, Jonathan Kaplan’s Brokedown Palace, Van Helsing, Absolutely Anything, and the independent dramas Nothing But The Truth, Stonehearst Asylum, The Face of an Angel, Snow Angels, and Fragments (aka Winged Creatures).
Beckinsale’s television appearances include playing in One Against the Wind for Hallmark Films. On the stage, Beckinsale has appeared in ‘Clocks & Whistles’, ‘Sweetheart’, and the National Theatre’s touring production of ‘The Seagull.’
Beckinsale, who was born and raised in London before going on to Oxford, has for some years been based in Los Angeles. - Розваги
This woman's personality, charm, humor, and wit is just intoxicating. I could listen to her forever. Doesn't hurt she's gorgeous, but she is so much more. Always loved her movies, but it's interviews like this where you get to see a glimpse of the real Kate and she just takes my breath away. I would love to meet this woman, not that I have a chance lol, but she is so amazing. We are the same age too....just say'n Kate haha!
Kate is the most interesting, classy, intelligent, charming, witty and sophisticated woman I've ever seen. Not to mention a first class actress. I could listen to her voice all night long.

Right? I've never seen her this animated and comfortable in an interview before. And swearing every chance she got too, lol.
A sign of a very skilled and interested interviewer. You can just tell that this man really did his homework and that he is truly listening when she is talking, which is not as easy a skill as you might think. Also he has a very calm vibe about him. I think she just reacted very positively on all that, and Kate is, from what I've seen of her, a very funny coversationalist. All you need for a good interview is to give her the space to tell her stories and you'll likely have a good interview. I think the swearing is more her actually forgetting a tad that she is speaking very publically. It feels like the way she would speak when not holding back.
Well they're both in their comfort zone - SAG-AFTRA. And not chatting on late night television just to sell a product. With that said, Kate is one of the best.

Agreed. I was about to same thing as well. He was such a wonderful interviewer who knew his stuff. One of my pet peeves is Interviewers who know nothing about the person they're interviewing. I know they interview a lot of people but you typically know who you are going to be interviewing and can do some research. I enjoyed this interview. Plus Kate is one of the most classy ladies ever.

When I was a little girl I had the biggest crush on Richard Beckinsale - I used to watch him in a show called Porridge with another amazing actor called Ronnie Barker and also another show called Rising Damp. I used to think Richard Beckinsale was the most gorgeous, beautiful man I had ever seen.
If I could emulate any look of Kate's it would be this one-so effortlessly glamorous! Also, the Tiptoes trailer is outrageous, but worth the watch!

I love listening to her speak about absolutely anything lol. The only problem is her voice is so soothing that I start to fall asleep lol. I love reading the comments of non-British men (mostly Americans) on videos with Kate Beckinsale and other posh, pretty British actresses - they lose their minds! You can imagine them having “private time” while watching these pretty ladies speak in their plummy accents! The effect is magic. It works in reverse, too. I’m English and lived in NY for a while and American girls were visibly startled when they heard me speak and I suddenly became instantly attractive after being just another guy. Hilarious!

I am a huge fan of her wit and charm so it was surprising going through her IMDB page that only a few of her films reflect just how funny she is; I must say at this point I have not seen Love & Friendship. She is very disarming and does not carry any of that celebrity bullshit baggage in any of her interviews that I have seen, why has she not portrayed someone who is funny, confident yet vulnerable and open? Then again, maybe she just like's kicking ass! ;-D
