I actually played the whole game, and enjoyed it. Despite having the worst voice acting I've ever heard in a modern video game, the gameplay is fun. It's just a mindless tear down of enemies. A good game to play when you just wanna kill stuff with a big sword
I really hope this game does well. I love seeing smaller studios reap success for their hard work in the face of towering AAA publishers. Everyone wants to complain about skeezy corporate tactics but so few do much about it when they still purchase their scummy games and overlook the underdogs.
Exactly! Most my games are indie games or games that are actually popular (or popular within a certain community) but there's lots of passion involved (Yakuza series, Persona series, God of War series to name a few)
I absolutely love this game. On my 5th play though and it has gotten better each time through. The combat is fun and feels really well weighted. There is good sense of progression in the game in terms of unlocking new blades/abilities and upgrading them that makes it really fun to play again and again. You never feel too weak or too overpowered. Honestly this game is a masterpiece. I play a lot of games but this takes the cake as by far the most fun game I’ve played on switch
Just played the demo. The combat is actually pretty good. I found myself enjoy some of the fights even though the enemies were boring. Hoping for more variety? Either way, I'd pick it up for $10, maybe $15?
for a switch game, it looks pretty good to me even on youtube not my cup of tea though but I am 65 I like mature story-driven content without too much combat. when I was younger I wanted more combat and less story.
I don't understand why you are picking up on graphics so much. For such game, the graphics are pretty nice. And I was always cared about graphics being good, I used to value them over gameplay a lot of times, just saying I'm not somone who does not care about pretty graphics, and this game looks nice in my opinion.
I've played about an hour so far. I personally think the gameplay is where it shines it's a combination of Nier and Devil May Cry. I'd pay $20 bucks so far for this, but not the $25 STEAM is asking for. My opinion might change as I get farther but atm no more than $20!
The combat is genuinely good. Would he cool to see this team with a REAL budget. Fleshing out a sequel, with proper voice acting, more content, more difficulty, ect. Like they have some real talent here to pull off something really special. Especially when there game LOOKS AND RUNS better than any first party Nintendo game has in years. Still can't play Hyrule warriors 2 at 20fps.
That's a lie! If that were true then this game would sell more and be more popular than any 1st party nintendo game, but in the real world that's not true. Mabye in your fantasy world.
"Dated graphics"... I hate hearing this in reviews. Deus Ex, Thief The Dark Project, SC1, Jak/Ratchet/Sly series... this level of detail and graphics are perfect. Especially since the limitations encouraged focusing on aesthetic over realism. High graphical detail is the reason why God of War 4 runs at 30fps on a PS4, while God of War 1 runs at 60fps on a PS2 (which is sad). People who need ridiculously high fidelity graphics don't want games, they want movies. I miss the era where complex varied mechanics and player agency was the norm.
Gonna grab it once it hits Steam. Hopefully I can play with Japanese VO, guessing it might be better? lol. Lack of enemy variety is what sinks a lot of these games. Still, always willing to check out a new IP, as long as it's decently priced.
Id go for it if it wasn't so short (apparently 7hrs). Otherwise there is just too much competition on ps4 for similar titles. Maybe if I only had a switch I'd get it
This game is one of my new favorites. It’s kinda short and a little repetitive but the combat is so fucking fun and I honestly liked the story lol. I hope they release some dlc or a sequel. I’m already almost finished with my second play through and ready to start my third. Love this game!
Thank you, you just saved me a few bucks. This looks way too consoly for me and the idea of energy to use different weapons that force you to change them is a total no-no for me 😆
Won't lie. Everytime I got into battles, I played Nero's theme music in my head. The demo wasn't bad but the degradation system did becime irritating at times.
Reminds me of Nier automata and not in a good way- something is missing here and it feels rather empty (or made with low budget). I tried demo- crazy control scheme for PC (rarely used by games uncomfortable keys like T, Z, C) and constant barrage of wall of text tutorials just killed any desire to play it more. Ill pass.
When I played the demo version , I thought this game related to Neir automata . The movement of character and attack of swords but in much lower level .
Gamebolt this game dose not look like an early 360 game Really ? Have u seen an early release .this game has a nice smooth look .plus u skipped over the regular ps4 version BTW it runs and looks like the ps4 pro version this is a budget title ur reviewing it lile a big budget title ur review is unbalanced no offense
After playing the demo it just seems like yet another generic hack and slash game and omg the voice acting is just terrible 😂 it's better to play it with japanese voices trust me your sanity will thank you for it
Your voice sounds weird, almost mechanical. Narrate more naturally. Say more about the story EARLY on. And finally, you gave it a 7 despite all the shortcomings. Are you kind or is it a sponsored review, I keep thinking. Lost interest in checking your other reviews. Sorry.
Poor review. The game as we know is made by an upstart up indie dev. Having high expectations despite the game’s overall quality with budget limitations is “over derivative” from the reviewer standpoint. Ultra age appears to be unique and the gameplay has depth that you can only dream of from a indie dev. Thumbs down to the reviewer on this one
This game reminds me of the bad hack-and-slash games of the ps2 era. I'm talking Chaos legion bad... Monotonous, no substance gameplay with bad hit detection. I might buy it, but definitely not at full price.

FF7 Remake had some of the worst conversation interactions of the modern era imo so I'm sure I can handle Ultra Age's lol.
Put the Japanese voice acting on with English subtitles. Makes a big difference
@@hanknarcan3719 shut up
@@drewmyers3916 hes right tho. i didnt even know the voice acting in ff7 was bad cause i played it in japanese from the start.

Thats fair. They chose optimization and balance over trying to do much. Given real budget they'll do big things
@@letsplayerslayer972 Thank you.
This reminds me of the hack and slash action games from the PS2 era, and that's a good thing.
This looks fun.

Thinking about getting it on the switch? Hows the frame rate?
Approx game length please?

It's 15$ rn on steam

Looks like a fun time killer, loved the combat on the demo.
I missed the demo on pc. They removed it from both switch and pc. I guess the negative backlash made them remove it.

As decent as the game sounds this review really didn't sell it. Seems like a pick up on deep discount kind of game.

@Drizzt Do'Urden japanese voice actors actually seem like they are trying tho lol. some times they are bad. but usually not
@Drizzt Do'Urden except I'm not. Your statement is false.
Japanese voice actors are literally treated as mainline celebrities.
Ho...he is definitely a freaking robot!
That is the best voice acting I've ever heard it kind of reminds me of a jill sandwich re1.lol
I would give this game at the most a 6. The game is not bad but not good either

And on switch you'd have Astral Chain as a choice, so...
Too many higher profile games to get to before I even LOOK at this one!!....
I remember those times when games were meant for gamers...I´ll surely check this game . Great review.

looks like final fantasy 0.15
A poor version of DMC.
This looks like a mobile game
I did not enjoy this game. Everything sounds and looks generic and there are bugs. Also, it is overbearingly difficult. I cannot recommend.
Very nier esc looking gameplay
I wouldn't compare it to Nier too much. It's more like DMC or Nanobreaker. Way more straightforward than Nier.
Devil may cry game
This sounds more like a 6, the only good thing about this game is the combat.
It’s a game focused on combat.. like saying the only good thing about street fighter is the fighting..
Gonna pass on this one. Way too generic. Looks like a bastardized version of Nanobreaker + DMC4.
It is a lot like nanobreaker! I was hoping somebody else would pick up on that.
