Awesome!! Keep your eye out for falcons as well. I've heard NYC has a large population of Peregrines. Many birds of prey have adapted to life in large cities where there are lots of rodents and pigeons to feed on.
Thank you @@cptbfrank that's interesting and I wasnt aware of that. I see they have two color morphs and may have much lighter coloring. Thanks for sharing!
I saw a red tail hawk today too me and my bus driver love talking about animals I saw two hawks one near my school and one at my apartment, place on the branch me and my friend looked at it for a couple of seconds and then it just took off to another location
Ive lost multiple pet chickens to one of these. Drives me crazy. Been putting up canvas's to deter them but they are smart enough to get in other ways.
Ive used chicken tractors with wire mesh sides (not chicken wire) to protect chickens. That way you can move the tractor to fresh grass every day but the chickens are safe.
No they don't. Eagles cherp. More like a seagull. Only Hawks scream. I'm a Raptor handler out of Washington State. If you don't know what you're talking about keep your comments to yourself

I have two living in an oak tree in back yard. Absolutely beautiful. Noisy, but beautiful.
Very cool! Yes - they can be loud.
@@foxruneec I’d prefer hearing them ALL the time to lawnmowers and leaf blowers! 😊
I just saw a red tailed hawk eating a pigeon on a fire escape in Bronx New York.

I saw a hawk today on the light pole I can believe my eyes first time I ever seen one Chicago is beautiful
KV - that is fabulous! And extra special that you saw it in a big city area. Thanks for watching.
I saw one take a squirrel out of a tree today, finish it off on the ground, and fly off with it. Impressive birds!
They are so impressive! Thanks for watching.
I did make an error while editing photos! 1:40 the guy eating a snake is a red-shouldered hawk - a very similar species!
You also got one thing wrong about all subspecies having a red tail. Harlan's do not.

We have a red tailed hawk family living in our pin oak tree. They took over an empty nest that was used by a Cooper Hawk family earlier in the year.
Fabulous! Thank you for sharing!
Very informative video. It is nice when you can catch sight of the reddish tail- not always visible in my experience.
Your right! Thanks for watching.
I love them! Great video.
Merci beaucoup. My "Favorite."

Theres a field nearby the apt we moved into. Ive seen this hawk 3 times not sure if it is the same one im just assuming
Awesome! They are territorial so I would assume you are seeing the same one. Thanks for watching.
bro opened his eye socket so hard his eyes fell off
I trained my heart Dido to eat rabbits but anytime I let him out on his own not on the hunt he brings back cats
I heard and saw one calling to another hawk and when they call they sound exactly like bald eagles
Wonderful. Yes they do sound like Bald Eagles
I read somewhere one time that generally when you hear a bald eagle in a TV show or a movie it's a red tail.
@@nigeldean3726 I believe it!
@@nigeldean3726 Yes, their call is often used in movies!

the call of the loon bird is also overused in movie sound effects just like them
Thanks Ralph. Good to know!
I had 1 fly into my semi truck today it broke my heart
I'm so sorry!
We Have Type Of Hawk In UK And Why Did You Say Chicken Like Hawk Just Saying 🤨
Good question! "Chicken Hawk" is a nickname that Americans use for both red tails and Coopers Hawk. It implies they go after chickens.
@@foxruneec You Probably Right
wow i have a red
Awesome! Thanks for watching
Wtf is a mile
A mile is a unit of measure in the USA. 1 mile = 1.6 kilometers
@@foxruneec thanks
Can’t believe I’m from USA and don’t know what a mile was
No problem. Probably if I was talking about cars it would have clicked but it seemed out of place when talking about hawks!
