I actually witnessed this event driving from Davis, Ca to Sacramento, Ca. early one evening just a few weeks ago. There were at least three red tailed hawks participating in the hunt and I saw one of them successfully catch a bat. It was pretty cool....
Odd, living in Texas to have the BBC treat this as an exotic land with exotic wildlife. This must be how the Australians feel when tourists gawk over the kangaroos.
@Roger Edgerton I take it that you have no love for Texans? I'm not native to this state, so I can't say much about the average "Texan dolt", but I have become accustomed to the terrain and wildlife and so they seem ordinary due to the familiarity.
Thank you for this clip. I still like to watch the bats come out at night from the Congress street bridge, only 1.5 million bats compared to 15 to 20 million at the Bracken Cave and about 12 million at the Frio Cave. So glad the Bat Con International was able to preserve the land adjacent to the Bracken Cave, to help protect the bats and people.
One of my neighbors used to grow a field of sunflowers. It would attract doves for miles. The doves would get so fat they we slow and couldn't fly very far. The Red Tailed Hawks would pick the right out of the air and sit over by my electric pole and chow down leaving piles of feathers. These hawks would get so big you could mistake them for eagles.
The hawks that are the best hunters will keep coming back through the season like was said. The hawks don't have much of any significant impact on the vast number of hawks. There's the nunace you were looking for.

Imagine being a hawk and 20 million cheese burgers with wings start flying out of a cave.
My fat man senses are tingling
You can see it in Austin Texas
'Murica!
What the fuck are you smoking
Tobias would be in heaven.
Wow imagine the strength and precision it takes not only to grab one bat, but to get a second. Those talons and grip are unreal.
I live in the Dallas area and these hawks are everywhere. It's crazy how often I see them catching other birds in parking lots and over busy streets.

They should definitely bring David Tennant in for more documentaries. He has such a lovely voice and his accent is charming as heck.
You know who the real predator is? The guy who filmed this! If you read this, I just want to say: “you are a BEAST!”

Red hawks live all over the USA, not just Texas. I’ve seen a lot of them in Utah, and Colorado and some times even in Nevada.
@@trayvonjackson4830 Even more amusing then
I once seen a red hawk in Michigan

Love our red tails, Great Horned Owls. All of the birds of prey we have here on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.
It amazes me how they fly around and don’t hit each other
echolocation
Actually they do - often if you watch bats in slow motion there's a lot of "Sorry dude" - "Sorry dude..."
Who else is watching this around 2:00 am?
King savage Red lion 2 1:00 pm

I guess the real badasses can catch one on each talon while holding one in their beaks. Legendary!
Love the soundtrack and narration with this! Have watched it over and over!!
Most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen
That's the American Southwest for you.
Lived here my entire 28 years on Earth and I still never get tired of it.
This is probably the best camera work, I have seen.
Wow Hawks eating @ the Bat-ffet 😂😂😂
small rodent creature: developed wings to fly away from predators on land
hawks: welcome to the skies
Ironically bat's are more related to primaries than rodents.
All The Bat's🦇 versus Red-Tailed Hawk
Red-Tailed Hawk is out numbered
Eventually bat's will win
The hawks that are the best hunters will keep coming back through the season like was said. The hawks don't have much of any significant impact on the vast number of hawks. There's the nunace you were looking for.
This is the closest you can get from T-tax (hawks) eating humans (bats)
Oh god I don’t want to be eaten by TurboTax!
Red Tailed Hawks are such gorgeous bird's ❤❤❤❤❤
I have lots of red tailed hawks in my backyard. I love watching them
Spectacular visuals!
The audio and the editing is also impressive!
I feel satisfied by this guy’s voice and accent
What a beautiful sky, wow.
Minor winning of Team Dinosaur in mammalian era.
Here in Western NY, . . Red Tail Hawks are common. We also have Ospreys!

Birds of Prey so cool
This isn't Birds of Prey this is about the Hawk.
StarlingReturns2109 a hawk is a bird of prey
That’s David Tennant narrating! I can definitely hear that…I didn’t know he narrated any of these
Olympic level hawks can catch a bat in each claw and one in their mouth.
Apex predators at their finest I love it!!
Camera work is incredible ..... very skilled camera guy
Caught 2 bats . Amazing.
Oh look last week tonight's Raptor mascot.
Seriously sweet camerawork

There's someone hunting batman .
Glad to see Tobias is still around.
I was looking for this specific comment.
My favourite animals are hawks, bats and croco
Never expected that hawk had a chance of eating million burgers
Great video, especially the slow motion.
Now all the Hawks are quarentined 😂😂
That is incredible behavior for a buteo. I've never heard of a red tail catching anything on the wing!
I've heard that they do but on rare occasions. Most prefer hunting from a perch and don't even hunt on the wing much.
Those experience Hawks always bat a thousand huh😂
Were people filming me??? Let me hunt in peace!
The bats didn't come from Mexico to breed, the Bracken cave bats are a predominantly female gathering which live there and go *to* Mexico to breed.
Build a higher wall to keep the Mexican bats out. :¬}
Wow amazing. Flight.
Talonflame vs Zubat horde
Hail the Cameraman!
BEAUTIFUL.
Dude sounds like shellington from Octonauts😂
I love classical voice of presenter
Reminds me of Harry Potter trying to catch his Hogwarts letter.
This is so accurate XD

insanely awesome footage!
I saw that sky and said. Yep. That’s Texas alright!
Love the Scoh'ish Occent!
Caught bat: Of all the bats,.....
Wuuuuuuhhh!
Sorry Batman!
Jajajajajaja
Raptors are so badass
Of course BnZ tactics work best when you have a speed and weight advantage and your prey is in an uptiered agility airframe.
You know why............cause AM BATMAN🦇!

If you listen to this while translating “bat” to “illegal Mexican” and “hawk” to “ICE,” in your mind, it’s hilarious and accurate.
Just when bats thought they mastered the air
That Bird will have to isolate for 14 days
Absolutely incredible footage! 👍 👍 👍 😊 ☺️
That ain’t no hawk! It’s nothin’ but bats!
Bruh didnt expect to see a ref to that herr
Great footage but the excellent thing here is BBC manage to count the number of bats some odd 20 million's less 4 😊👌
Right on the Bat, Ozzy!
Incredible.
20 million bats eating mosquitoes and bugs. That’s a lot of insects .
Why would you want to eat a flying mouse?....lol
I am rooting the Hawk so epic
