    Rmsc footprint optics will fit on a slide cut for Holosun K footprint optics. Mounting a Holosun to an Rmsc cut slide will require an adapter plate or additional machining to the slide’s optics cut because of the extra recoil lugs and slight height difference in the front lugs between the two.

    • @gunbros
      @gunbros  Рік тому +9

      That is correct. We ran out of time so couldn't explain that. It is a fairly easy fix if the plate is plastic like the case for the Canik Mete. We just trim down the extra recoil lugs and slap the K footprint on.

    If you have smaller EDC pistol with the Shield RMS footprint I also suggest the Vortex Defender CCW. I have a few of them and they’re awesome. Hold zero very well, top loading battery with long life, and honestly look cool too. For around $250 bucks it’s hard to beat. A lot of times it’s on sale for like $230 or so as well. I tell people about it alllll the time. Great red dot.

    Have you ever seen a properly mointed optic on a USP .40? Been looking around but I've not yet found anything. Admittedly it hasn't been a super thorpugh search either. But i love my USP
    40 and I don't think ill ever carry another gun as my EDC (been carrying her since i bought her back in 96, 10s of thousands of rounds through at the range and it still fires like a dream, but i wouldn't mind an optic on the old gal.

    I’m just wondering how do you conceal carry with an optic, like before you go into where ever your going do you turn the optic on and waste the battery or when your drawing your firearm do you turn it on

    • @jamespayne4459

      Mine is always on. Battery is a 2032, good for a couple of years according to the nomenclature and a zillion reviews on youtube. I swap the batteries in all my optics on my wedding anniversary, cheap insurance i figure. My Holosun, the primary arms version with the Vulcan reticle, which I cannot recommend highly enough, it's awesome, has a shake awake feature which let's it take a nap if the sensor doesn't detect movement for 10 minutes. I do mean "NO MOVEMENT" like sitting in your gun safe or similarly stable resting place. If it's on your body, in a holster, it's not gonna nap. It snaps awake instantly so even if you could have it holstered and asleep, before you could present the sights it would be back on at whatever brightness setting it was at before it went to sleep if on manual or at whichever brightness it determined required from its built in light meter if set to auto.
      Hope this helps.

    New to firearms here: what differentiates a good optic from a lesser one? For handguns at least.

    • @CutlassOutdoors
      @CutlassOutdoors 2 місяці тому +1

      Most important factors are durability, zero retention, and battery life (trustworthiness). Secondary considerations are enclosed or open emitter, edge to edge distortion, parallax, tint, and light transmission (performance). Last things to consider are button location and feel, reticle, reticle color, size, and window size (preferences).
      That’s my opinion anyway, from the perspective of someone looking at dots from a defensive use case. Other use cases (such as competition shooting) may prioritize those things differently.

    • @gunbros

    If I'm on a budget which one should I pick out of all of them for a 43x?

    • @gunbros
      @gunbros  Рік тому +2

      For the 43X you would be looking at the RMSC footprint. I think you may need to do some minor modifications to the screw length for the 407K/507K so that there aren't problems with the optic and extractor interfering with each other. Could also run a Sig Sauer Romeo Zero which is a budget optic, however if you have the money I would pick the Holosun over the Sig. We have seen off and on issues with the Sig handgun optics.

      @BlueDart1971 2 місяці тому

      @@904duval8 they are no more reliable than lots of modern pistols. They used to be the most reliable but not anymore. The fanboys are the worst part of Glock. Today they are just another pistol that doesn’t feel good in the hand. Of course lots of manufacturers make parts for them. They are popular and it’s a smart business decision to make parts. It’s not because they are amazing. Glock becomes a good gun once you put on several aftermarket parts.

It also wouldn't help anyone unless they showed a schematic diagram showing screw and stud spacing patterns in a still image all aligned in a way to easily see the differences. At the end of the day, what you need to know is what the cut is called for the optic or gun you have.
