I’m thinking the same thing. What I don’t want is for Tadej to win, then have it be diminished because Jonas wasn’t 100%. I want Tadej to be challenged, by someone other than himself. You’re spot on about Remco. To win a Grand Tour, you need to be a super strong climber, and very good in the time trial. I just don’t see him keeping up with the big boys, on the long, steep, grueling climbs. Remco can win both time trials, and still not podium…Happy viewing! 🦋👊🇨🇭

Hell, I think we're all hoping for some good attacks and counters from Pogi and JV too.
Matteo Jorgenson over Carlos Rodriguez? Most commentators and cycling fans I have heard from would disagree. Though many also give the caveat that Remco wins white if he is at his best throughout the tour.
@@J-cz7yv Predictions of how amazing the riders will be just increases the excitement for all involved. Keep going! Here are some of my additions. Remco takes yellow jersey on stage 7. Jasper can't climb with Mads and Alpecen isn't setup to manage the race for an entire stage on multiple days. Jasper will likely win more finish sprints.

Thanks for all work you guys put chris and garrett
Tadej is better then ever and there will be no competition (even if Jonas is at 100%). Bruyneel just got insiders info that said that Pogacar is in form of his life and that he's numbers are much better then in Giro - raised his W/Kg by 15W and lost extra 1.5kg compared to Giro - everything said there sound scary! If there is no problems for him (crashes, illness) we will watch battle for 2nd. Let's hope that's not the case.
Since the 1989 tour de france when Lemond has beaten Fignon and takes the tour victory for 8 seconds, the French never again had put a ITT on the 21st stage, this tour finally will happen again, but only because of the Olimpics in Paris is not possible to have the traditional last stage on the Champs elysees!!

This year’s TdF “news” sounds like the talk before my races where everyone claimed to be at death’s door before the starting gun then they PR. At least this year’s TdF will show the truth in stages 1 and 2.
Also about WVA. He badly wants and needs to win one or more stages. That was the whole talk last TdF and he won none (all that talk about him helping his team and Jonas not doing a pull or chase in stage 1 last year). Hey Chris, I was thinking and think Jonas Vingegard losing Sepp Kuss is bad but not a total disaster. JV can just follow TP sticking behind him like a glue. He can force Tadej to isolate himself by burning his entire domestics, then follow him and bring the fight to 1v1. If Tadej is dropped the only problem for JV is Roglic not Remco and I beleive JV can easily handle Roglic. Correct me if I am wrong, because surely you have a better knowledge and experience than me.
A lot of smoke screens built by every squad. Chris, been thinking about this for a while now, but is having the best riders outside of the team top stars riding as superdomestiques for the favourites a thing? I started thinking about this maybe last year when Vingegaard and Roglič went to the Vuelta last year, although there they weren't riding for anyone and even attacked the race leader on their own team, as well as each other, and even more so in recent months, when to me it became apparent that certain riders, like Ayuso, Adam Yates, Almeida for UAE, Jorgenson and van Aert for Visma, and Hindley and Vlasov for Bora would most likely be leaders for any team and thus able to add more entertainment by attacking the big 3 (or 4 if you count Evanapoel as a likely winner, which personally i don't). Even when Team Sky were dominant with Froome his super doms although great riders at they did weren't ever going to challenge and potentially beat the team leaders on the other teams and so they just did their jobs (when they left for team leader positions on other teams they showed they couldn't challenge for a GT win). Am I being unfair? I just see the growth of super teams with nearly all the top GC on a handful of teams stifles competition more than ever.
Oh, and amazing story yesterday about your Olympic experience. I hope you own the movie rights for it!!! How you managed to tell the story without using the term knucklehead once is beyond me!!!
Since I was at Morzine for his immortal/ignoble victory in 2006, I'd ❤❤ to see Tadej's team LAUNCH him up to the first four hills as PHONAK did for Floyd Landis, and make his opponents suffer every darned kilometer. How epic would that be? And it's doable.
Interesting that Sepp Kuss is out due to a positive Covid PCR test. (Didn't know Covid was still a thing....) Pogacar, on the other hand, supposedly was Covid positive but is now fully recovered and cleared to ride the Tour. Wonder if they had the same PCR test? Hope Sepp is good to ride the Vuelta and Jumbo can put together a solid team so he has a legit chance to repeat.
"Still a thing", you mean like last week's internet meme that is already passé, lol. As a MD, I can tell you it's quite common for viruses to continue circulating in the population over several years. And we know symptoms from covid are highly variable, as in completely asymptomatic to death. So yes, both Kuss and Pogacar could easily have quite different clinical experiences- totally believable.
I have a clear memory of watching tour racers following F1 live together a couple years ago. The race car drivers are military pilots, if we could arrange a view through one of those observation satellite telescopes, there had better be drones on some of this stuff, maybe NBC could hire IDF drone pilots if they don't boycott 🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🇵🇸🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🕋🏕🧎♂️🙋♀️
Finally the tour de France will end with a ITT on the 21st stage and is not a easy one, after 3500 km in the legs ,a ITT with about 34 km which includes a mountain of category 2 ,if the liders don't have a very good advantage, they have to give all they got to arrive with the win or the podium. With some of the best riders in the world on ITT ,those who want to take the first places should not let the time differences to small for that last stage!!
When you have a team of 8 people, there is nothing wrong with letting one or two guys go up the road in hopes of personal glory(a stage win). You don't need 7 guys pulling Pogacar up the mountain. Share the wealth a little Chris.
Spoken as if you actually know something factual that no one else has access to. (Which I don't believe.) So I'd ascribe it to you being a faithful Jonas fan expressing what you hope for, as opposed to what any objective scrutiny of known facts reveals.
I keep hearing everyone saying how it's going to be a fantastic Tour and... well... it was gonna be before the crash in Itzulia. How certain are we that this won't be just a repeat of the Giro where Pog just wipes the floor with everyone? I really want Jonas to do well and Evenepoel too, so many haters on him, but i'm just not seeing it Chris...
We know the riders are ready. Horner is always ready. We're ready. But is NBC ready? I think Chris may point out some knucklehead analysis and commentary on tomorrow's TBFE. 🛋️🦋
Lance and Johan and Hincappie I think have it right. Remco is off the podium, not top 4. JV form isn’t good enough to podium he needs the week to get into form but UAE knows it and the early hills/mountains UAE is gonna hurt him. Also like Hincappie says Egan Bernal is up there, I think he gets #3 spot. TP, ahead of Primoz cause he’ll likely crash some time away and Egan Bernal. 1,2,3. JV and Remco are off the podium.
Hey Chris, Well, well, well, it seems Pog is becoming the cycling demigod, huh? Is he the Inevitable now? According to some podcast gossip, he practically ascended Mount Olympus during training camp at Isola 2000. Apparently, they went over Col de la Bonette (2,715 meters!) and then had a mini Tour simulation (3 guys on his team doing turns at 6 Watts per kilo) finishing on Isola where Pog dropped Yates and Almeida like they were toddlers on training wheels, gaining a cool 1'20" on them. Someone from his inner circle even claims he's upgraded from human to cyborg, boosting his power output by 13 to 15 watts per kilo since the last Giro. Oh, and did you hear? He shed a whole kilo and a half of human weight and his TT bike went on a crash diet, losing 750 grams! Because, you know, weight savings make all the difference when you're flying up mountains. So, if you were the poor sport director of the "other" team, what would you do? Clearly, Tadej is the Terminator of cycling now, but is he really the biggest threat to Pogacar? Managing back-to-back grand tours is a piece of cake, right? Just tell him not to win by 10 minutes every time, maybe just by a mere 9 minutes and 59 seconds. And let's not forget the third week; pacing oneself is overrated, especially when you're chasing stage wins like they're going out of style.
I think that Jonas can ride himself into shape. Let Tadej can ride aggressively and burn matches. Hopefully, Jonas can loose seconds in the first week and make up minutes in last week.
@@michaelrandall9034 Well, if you have another opinion you could try to make arguments pro/cons. That’s the way adults talk..Pogi is a punchy rider, that’s the way he wins. And he will do that again and again to shake Vingegaard…wait and see..
I hope he does, but even the race isn't good for him, may he do his best and that will be okay for me He is my favourite but it is fun to watch these guys Much respect for all of them

Second? ETA- assuming everyone isnt just playing mind games and BSing in the press the uncertainty of the big 4’s form will make this TDF a lot more interesting. If Tadej will really need a few days to get back on form it could give jonas the time he needs to get on form. And if Primoz CAN JUST STAY UPRIGHT this may still be an interesting TDF and not just 3 weeks of the Tadej Pagacar show
Pogi still sounded stuffed up yesterday in the interviews.. there was rumors of stage 1 being altered due to flooding but that was 3 days ago and I haven't heard anything since.. If I was UAE Id send someone up in the break to take pressure off the team.. I expect Roglic to come out flying
@@ChrisHornerCycling if Pog shows up with Giro form, Roglic will likely win the race of the rest . 2nd or 3rd pending if Vingegaard can fight with Pog. At 5min, rather than 10min like the rest

OMG, stage 1 looks like a beast. Can't wait for that flag to be raised.
When you have a team of 8 people, there is nothing wrong with letting one or two guys go up the road in hopes of personal glory(a stage win). You don't need 7 guys pulling Pogacar up the mountain. Share the wealth a little Chris.
Hi chris the race is betwen the two slovnaines ...jonas is not ready and remco is not stable still...😅 love your vidoes ....i wait for it all the time
At this moment before the race starts. I would agree 100% with you. I think Roglic will be very good. 🤞👊🦋💪🔥🇫🇷
Maybe this year gap between Jonas and Tadej will be under 5 minutes. Jonas will be TdF2024 champion.
Putting money on that?
Spoken as if you actually know something factual that no one else has access to. (Which I don't believe.) So I'd ascribe it to you being a faithful Jonas fan expressing what you hope for, as opposed to what any objective scrutiny of known facts reveals.
@@iamcruzing 🍻🍻🍻
Roglic I bet goes good. He can’t crash every time. 💪🦋🤞👊🇫🇷
Can't wait for tomorrow's TDF butterfly effect!
Best ever teams -- the ones with Hibault and Lemond.
chris, do you think tadej would make up having covid to alter the media perspective? wondering what you think about possible mind games
That’s the first thing I thought about but then I have never heard Pogi make something up. Let’s hope it wasn’t bad. 🤔🦋🤞🇫🇷
Team Horner!🇺🇸🚴
Deng gonna be 96 degrees when they start stage 1 tomorrow
They know they will be hurting. Can I survive? Crashes, sickness. Love hearing from Chris Horner.
I bet you came out of Ms. Horner's room REAL relaxed. Just kidding, sending lots of love to you all 🤣
😂🦋👊
No world feed on Peacock - we're all at the mercy of the NBC Sports feed in the US. 😭😭😭
Just saw an interview with Wout and he said this is the worst shape he's ever gone into the tour with.
I think that is just talk to avoid attention
Lets have a tip for each stage this years TDF !
I'll start with stage 1. Tom pidcock @ $19
Good point. But, Egan will most likely be lower on the GC than Rodriguez.
Hey Chris,
Well, well, well, it seems Pog is becoming the cycling demigod, huh?
If Tadej has dipped a bit in form after Covid, Adam Yates might be the strongest rider at the start of the Tour!
Thays what ferrari said, 7w/kg for 30mins to win the tour. As true now as in 1995
Waiting!
Uploading now! Should only be a little over 30 minutes

@@ChrisHornerCycling yay I will go get my pizza in the meantime
One of these guys can seriously win this race in the first two days.
One guy... ;)
João Almeida Rules 3th place 😁
Pending any unforeseen consequences he's not going to beat Yates.
I love that G man's wife brings his dog to the races.
I think that Jonas can ride himself into shape. Let Tadej can ride aggressively and burn matches. Hopefully, Jonas can loose seconds in the first week and make up minutes in last week.
Pog is not young and naive anymore.
Oh yes He is… it’s his style
@@Kroelle72 oh expert, sure…
👊🦋🤞
@@michaelrandall9034 Well, if you have another opinion you could try to make arguments pro/cons. That’s the way adults talk..Pogi is a punchy rider, that’s the way he wins. And he will do that again and again to shake Vingegaard…wait and see..
After the last 2 years I think Tadej is going to blow the doors off this race.
I hope he does, but even the race isn't good for him, may he do his best and that will be okay for me
He is my favourite but it is fun to watch these guys Much respect for all of them
Starts in the morning. The four top riders in different teams and we have the best coverage on this channel. Can not wait. Don’t think we are going to have story time on what happened in the girlfriends bedroom to enable that relaxed feeling though 😉
Second?
ETA- assuming everyone isnt just playing mind games and BSing in the press the uncertainty of the big 4’s form will make this TDF a lot more interesting. If Tadej will really need a few days to get back on form it could give jonas the time he needs to get on form. And if Primoz CAN JUST STAY UPRIGHT this may still be an interesting TDF and not just 3 weeks of the Tadej Pagacar show
🥇agreed. If Roglic is back to Basque Country fitness and pogi is tad off. It’s going to be good. 👊🦋🏆👊🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
If they created an award for best cyclist in the world, wouldn't Wout Van Aert deserve it? Up down flat or sideways. Oh look. There's Wout.
Top contenders always play the humilty card to not give away ammunition to competition.
I can't believe you guys are not talking about the new Star Jorgensen
Pogacar with Covid-19 means that instead of winning by 7 min, he will win by 6.
😂
😂🦋👊🇫🇷
I have a bad feeling that Pogacar is going to dominate the first week and the GC race will be over.
Roglic I can’t wait to see how he looks. At Basque Country he looked sooooo good before the crash. 😲🤔👊💪🦋
🦋i wouln t like to have the yellow shirt before stage 7 !i think the race will start then 🚴🚴♂🚴♀ride fast die last!. njoylife 🦋
Stages 4,14,15,19 and 20 is all I care about.
Nah, I lied, CAN’T WAIT!!
Yeah, I'm only interested in the first 21 stages.
Ready to see tadej pogacar retake his crown from jonas as long as this time there's no kuss to help him
Can't see it happening but would like a dark horse to win.
my predictions. Jonas will try to limit his loses tomorrow. Soler will get the knuckle head award. :-)
Seems like having family members would create a positive race environment.
I think we're seeing a once in a generation episode of grand tour sand-bagging lol 🤣🤣
Cris after which stage we'll know the winner ? :)
if Vingegaard can't stay with Pog right away, after stage one!
Roglic I’m betting is very very good. So not until late into the third week again. The last day. 😲😱🔥 🤞🇫🇷🔥🦋👊
If there are no crashes. 🦋👊🤞🔥
@@ChrisHornerCycling if Pog shows up with Giro form, Roglic will likely win the race of the rest . 2nd or 3rd pending if Vingegaard can fight with Pog. At 5min, rather than 10min like the rest
With as many nerves and wrecks that happen the first days of every tour, do you think its a mistake to throw in huge climbs and dangerous courses?
No. It should reduce the crashes after the peloton has to climb for two days. The group is smaller and the riders are more tired. Plus, yellow is over for so many after stage one. 🗻🤞👊🦋🇫🇷
Yates and Matteo J >>> my dark horses...🎉
