The organizers have designed a tour for Pogi and Jonas. Better hope both show up and no one crashes out. Otherwise it will be boring. The problem with this course is there's not much room for anyone else to shine.
Pogacar has improved so much this year, and now the high mountains are not only to Vingegaard's advantage, but just as much to Pogacar's. The first part of the race with many puncheur stages suits Pogacar reasonably well, and if he rides like this year, it almost doesn't matter how good Jonas is. Pogacar is so versatile, and many of the stages suit him better than Jonas. The 2025 course is a nice route and there are opportunities for sprinters, puncheurs and breakaways. On different matters, remember that Visma besides having Van Aert now also have Victor Campenaerts, and I'm pretty sure that they are taking him to the TdF because they are going with everything to take back the jersey from UAE. Van Aert and Campenaerts will completely suffocate UAE.
What does victor provide to Visma? Can pull on flats sure but he gives nothing to them in a mountain stage. Not that big of a signing unless they let him hunt stages in the Giro, Tour, Vuelta. He is no super domestique

Thanks again Chris keep killing it on UA-cam
If both riders are good to go - I would put Jonas on level with Pog with Roglic potentially there, but generally I'd list him as just a slight bit lower on any given day.
Chris...when comparing Roglic to Pogachar, you seem to overlook that there's a 9 year age difference. Given the caliber of Pogachar, how can Roglic be on par?
Pogi had upped the ante in season 2024. His dominance in someways in my opinion is a message of challenge for the other's. I'm hopeful that the competition will rise to the challenge and that would mean more excitement and drama to look forward for. ❤🚴🇵🇭
Well the past is the past. It's great to compare past performances and tactics. Because that's what we know. Teams are all shuffling riders now going for the big win. UAE team stats this year, one for the books right?? Just like TJV the year before. Who's not to say, and the Peleton has. Pogi is 2 steps in front of the competition. Can it continue? We'll see in the spring I suppose . But what new players will join in the fray. Let's wait to call this one done and over with before the first rpm. Personally I'm waiting for the implosion of Ineos next year. Remco is going to be the one with the fire in his gut. Watch out for SDQ to be a powerhouse
Comment on 14 lb weight difference. With a huge amount of climbing and much of it steep comment on top three weight differences. Could account for who wins
How many years can a rider be at that podium level fitness? If Pog is at 4 or 5 consecutive, even factoring in the mutant level rider he is, is getting to 10 top years possible these days?
You'd have to think if Pogacar just relaxes and let the others try and win he'll be to strong and just come over the top of them at the end of the stages?? Unless Vingegaard turns up in amazing form . But it's also hard to believe Pogacar could put a season like this year back to back??
Roglic never has been at the level Pogacar was this year and I don't see him improve enough to challenge Pogacar. He needs Pogacar and Jonas either not in top shape or absent to really make a change at the victory imo. I rate Remco currently at similar level as Roglic and he has more room left for improvement, so I wouldn't be surprised if Roglic isn't even in the talk of top 3 anymore next TdF, but that is just something we'll have to wait and see.
redemption tour for tadej i think tour is capitalizing on storylines. col du loze, hautacam, ventoux are all climbs visma and jonas have bested him. he is entering prime and in rainbow his shouldn't need extra motivation but could help. just want everyone healthy gc leaders and there domestiques. a mcnulty like rider i think could make uae tour team stronger ayuso experiment failed. jay vine is good option as well.
Time trial will put him in yellow, if he does not get it before, and then he will cement it few days later. The rest of races could be picked for record books and prestige. Paris - Roubaix might see his debut, now that he checked everybody's pulse and picked up cobbles of Flanders
Pogacar? Why would he take yellow in the ITT? Unless maybe if he already has a good lead on Remco before it, I don't see Pogacar taking yellow in that stage.
If Progresgaçar makes again the progres he has made this year he will be Eddy Merckx and Vingegaard Joop Zoetemelk for the rest of his days. Only a superteam in superform could do something, but anough?
Agreed. We should assume Jonas will have better form than this year. Do you think it’s enough to overtake Tadej’s form though, and second question, does Tadej’s form improve as well?
@@J-cz7yv We can also assume Jonas will, extremely meticulously, put the whole season's preparations into the 3 weeks. Tadej wants lots of other things too. I think it will be very close.
Chris, I think Tadej could make a mistake on Mont Ventoux. I truly believe Tadej is in war not just with Jonas but even worse with the past. I think he is Chasing Pantanis and Lances KOM’s. I am very worried about his new coach. I hope he is mature enough not to push him harder than he needs to this year. Jonas will be ready, Tadej knows Jonas is in a mission to destroy him. Next year is war. I can wait for it.
You must be channeling your inner Danish Viking, rallying for your favorite rider. But let’s be real-Pantani and Lance? Please, Pog's not wasting time chasing KOMs like consolation prizes. The guy's on a mission to break Merckx’s records and lock down his spot at the pinnacle of cycling history. Ventoux mistakes? Small potatoes in Pog’s world. Let Jonas try to hunt him down all he wants; Tadej's aiming for GOAT status. Next year’s not war-it’s just another chapter in Pog's legacy.
@ Lance hates Pogacar. Remember he accused him of cheating. (Not directly but he did insinuate that he should not win so much because it might raise red flags. Assuming he uses drugs…:) Pogi lives in Lances head rent free.) He is the only person in the planet that can go for 8 wins. The KOM prices are not consolation prices. Taking KOM prices means destroying Lances legacy. As much as Pogi looks nice and tame. He is just another animal thirsty for blood. I am a very big Pogi fan, since California tour I have followed him very closely. I know about Pog a lot. I could write a book. Let’s not pretend that if Jonas wasn’t hurt Pogi might have won but it would have been very, very, very close. Let me tell you how much I like Jonas: The greatest gift Pogi could have given me is making Jonas cry like a baby hugging his wife. Am I sick in the head for saying this. Maybe a little. ;)

What I really really hope for is that we all see the emergence of the next top tier in 2025 - we saw hints of this in the second half of the 2024 season.what is also needed is paradoxically both more money and less money in the sport. More money in the sense that the huge difference between the teams with the sponsorship that has very deep pockets and those with low rent sponsorship must be lessened, which will enable high end riders in all teams, and at the same time the sport as a whole needs less money in the sense that riders, DS’s and team managers making decisions that are not solely based on financial reasons. What do I mean? In his review of this year’s UCI World Championship race for gravel, Chris pointed out that the huge posse of 5 Belgian riders at the front for the last third of the race did not behave as they should have, that is they did not behave as a Team Belgium, but they were in reality all riding for their pro-team employers and that that meant three of those five Belgians revealed that they were on team Alpecin and were at the front not for a team Belgium win but helping their real team leader MVDP to win no matter that officially he was riding for the Netherlands. As Chris noted they did this because big money has now taken over gravel racing as it has road biking and it’s all about pleasing sponsors rather than what is supposed to be a national team race.
Gravel championship were never as a national team, they always rode it as trade teams in all but appearance (the national agency isn't even really involved). This has nothing to do with the increase of money in gravel. By that notion the road cycling championships should be even more trade team based, since more money is involved, and yet this isn't the case.
@@MDP1702 this was the UCI World Gravel championships and like all the UCI World Champs in other bike riding disciplines it’s national team based. Those five Belgian riders in the lead group should have been working for one of them to win but as I noted and was later admitted three of them were working for MVDP riding in Nederland kit. That’s just wrong.
@@epincion Yes and no. It appears they ride as a national team, but they really don't, just wear the kit. Both the riders themselves and the national coaches said that. The riders basically had to take care of everything themselves: kit, signing in, support staff, travel, ... The national coach said that they had basically nothing to do with it. This is caused due to the gravel championship not having "professionalised" enough yet. Countries also didn't have a limitation on amount of riders that could start. All of this causes it to still be very much trade team based, even if they wear a national kit. Eventually this might change to a true national team event like is the case in most other sports, but that isn't the case yet now.
@ I repeat: the race is a national race NOT a team race, if this was for example the Olympic Games then they would (you hope) be riding as a national team. Every UCI world championship race in any cycling discipline is a national race, but as Chris Horner discussed at length in an upload it was clear that big money now has taken over and top flight WT and pro Conti level riders ride for their professional teams despite it not being such a race. If they do so then the UCI might as well stop holding these and the Olympic Games drop all cycling outside of indoor track cycling. There is no point in these races.
@@epincion And like I said, while it might look like a national event, it really isn't (yet), it just pretends to be because it is a championship. With time it might turn into a true national championships with national teams interests being most important. The gravel championships are still very different from the other UCI cycling championships, it will first need more reform. You don't need to take my word for it, the Belgian riders and national federation literally said it isn't yet a national event, just looking like one. The olympic games and championships in road cycling etc still are very much ridden as national teams, completely different from the gravel championships, which is the odd one because it still needs to proffesionalise. 34 of the top 100 in the last gravel worldchampionship were Belgian, imagine them riding as 1 team 🙄😬 The gravel championships aren't regulated to function as a normal national event at this moment, they are regulated as a free for all, which then turns into trade teams because if riders get the freedom, obviously they'll prefer working with/for other riders they ride with the entire year. There isn't the sense of national pride/responsiblities/organisation/... yet in gravel. So don't use gravel to talk about UCI cycling championships as a whole, because it is currently is unique in how it works and likely will see more streamlining in the next few years to become more like the other UCI championships.
Chris, love your videos and your channel. No, Roglic can not win the Tour anymore. Too old and the others are too good. Vingegaard and Pogacar, yes, that is the contest. But don't overlook Remco. Remco is the best time trialer period. He will gain time there. There have been articles that say he knows his climbing has to improve this winter. If he can improve his climbing, improve his tactics and if his team is stronger, Remco can win the Tour. A lot of ifs but Remco is only 24.
When it comes to mountains these days with Tadej. The more the Merrier. UCI is making him race on a vintage 1972 Fuji 10 speed which I don't think is fair but ahh he'll still win! 👍🏼🚵🏼💯🇸🇮
What do you mean 'now"? Visma was severely crippled the last Tour. Next year with Campenaerts , Yates, Jorgenson , Wout etc they will again be a force to be reckoned with. Dont underestimate a team for which Jonas, Wout and Jorgenson ride. Jonas is a better GT rider than anyone else except for one single guy in the whole world.
FLAT week? The first five stages don't crack 200m over sea level; the 6th & 7th stages do get over 300m over sea level. The winds and "road furniture" will determine rankings as this #TourdesTransferts (so many, so long) nears the first rest day, after Stage 10. Bonne chance, les gars...
ASO always goes public with TDF route Last Tuesday in October! No Sensation here Chris. Leaked😂😂 Forget Roglic he's on last fumes for 25. Podacar want to end his run with UAE. Wout van Aert is 24's biggest Knucklehead is he co owner of VISMA? He is allowed to be 110 % Selfish. Not thinking in anyway Team related.
Pogacar is something special though, he's literally already seen as the GOAT or that he'll be that shortly. Not quite good to measure other riders with. And it likely has just to do with Remco being the youngest of all the top riders (top 10 at least)
Dear Chris...this dude will be going for the big 3 next year....Giro, Tour and Vuelta........and he will be having the team to back him up at his attempt.....I wouldn't dare to doubt his ambitions after him having the best single season ever!!!!
As long as a French rider does not win the TDF I will be happy after what the bulk of the French fans dished out to Chris Froome on his time at the top.
Wout had good form this Vuelta, but you forgort Steven Kruijsvik also scrashed before tdf and missed. Visma had been dealt the worst cards ever when trying to win a tdf. So maybe maybe maybe in 2025 the gap is not over 8 minutes like 23 and 24.
In the end it didn't really matter that much this TdF, Jonas just wasn't good enough himself. Now if Jonas lost 2nd to Remco due to his weaker team, that might have been different.
@@MDP1702 I just highlighted the truly bad cards visma had. Of course one of themm was a 45 day TDF preperationn for Jonas. And of course he could not 1v1 Pogi, but mby with a stronger team they could had put more pressure on him like the side wind split. But sure pogi seems to be untouchable which is not that fun for viewing, just seeing the battle for 2nd, and more likee 3rd and evn more like 4rth :/
@@RottenDK Sure, but I just pointed out it didn't really matter since Jonas just wasn't strong enough and I can't see any tactics that would have changed the outcome, unless Visma had a 2nd strong leader (like in 2022). Jonas being at higher level was the only thing that could have changed things, but then that is obvious.
I thought Jonas was still behind from his crash and injuries. At the beginning of the season Jonas was flying. He was off his peak. I really want to see all of them at top form for one TDF.
Your takes are getting increasingly more unhinged, Chris. Roglic on level with Pogacar? Is this why he was dropped on stage 4, 11 and lost 25 seconds in the TT in this year's TDF? When did Roglic did 7 watts per kilo on a climb like Plateau de Beille? Not to speak about one day races because you don't even care about them, if you did care you would put Remco above Roglic...
Can we cease saying Visma “got rid of” Roglic, Chris? Roglic understandably wanted to leave to pursue sole leadership of a Tour team. You cannot force him to stay. If you do, you can disrupt your team dynamics with a malcontent. Visma ultimately needed to let him go and did right by all.
Roglic rode and won way more for Visma than Vingegaard, I know Vingegaard is the one who ended up winning 2 TDFs but are we forgetting the +70 pro wins of Roglic?
@@martinbogadomartinesi5135 I'm not quite sure I understand the response. Roglic needed and, therefore, wanted to leave to pursue sole leadership of a Tour team, which he would not understandably get with Visma moving forward as you have a 2x 27 y.o. champion as the unquestioned leader on the roster. What does that have to do with forgetting the wins/accolades of Roglic? Are you making an argument that Visma should have kept Roglic over Jonas secondary to the other wins or simply making a random comment? As a cycling fan, I'm fairly certain you are aware of the TDF is the biggest event in the sport. If you are going to let one go, then yes, you allow Roglic to move on to pursue his dream. I'd (and presumably most others would) rather have the 27 y.o. who has won the race twice vs. the 35 y.o. who hasn't won it, despite 1 heck of an opportunity in 2020 leading into the time trial. Not to mention, Roglic often crashes out of grand tours. Don't get me wrong, I love Roglic, but if the ultimate goal is to win the Tour and I'm forced to choose between the two, I'd take Jonas. My point is that Visma did not "get rid of him" (i.e., force him out the door). Instead, they thanked him by allowing him to move on to a different team to continue the pursuit of his dream. To me, that's a classy move AND one that helps to ensure better team chemistry.
Visma should copy the events that happened in the Vuelta this year with Ben o`Connor stealing 5 min. They should send Jorgensen on some big Endeavours in the beginning, and let him chase the yellow jersey and achieve 3-4 min advantage, so UAE must do the work then Jonas can attach him self to the back of POG.
UAE will not allow this and surely they will chase him with big engines Politt, Bjerg and McNulty and I know Pogi has Almeida, A.Yates, Sivakov and Vine this time in the mountains 🏔️
Jonas reminds me Michael Phelps with lactate tolerance. I'd give JV the edge in 2025 because I think he will have a chip on his shoulder after shades of dis from Pog & Remco. Maybe Roglic is the wildcard if Redbull winds him up and throws him to the front .
Jonas has been doing better and better every year vs Pogacar, only the injury made him not improve as much this year, if the trend continues Jonas will be better than Pog in the high mountains again next year. Cant wait to see what happens tho, you gotta love those 2 phenomenal talents and down to earth guys !!
@@Stavros_Polymeropoulos I don’t think you can honestly say that it was only the crash. And the year after year is tough to say, do you discount Tadej crash in 2023?

Thanks again Chris keep killing it on UA-cam
Thanks Chris and Garrett 👍🚲👍
Chris, what's going on at Ineos?? Now Steve Cummings announced his departure. How about more insight?
❤ this❗️ I'm excited for 2025❗️
👊🔥👍
If both riders are good to go - I would put Jonas on level with Pog with Roglic potentially there, but generally I'd list him as just a slight bit lower on any given day.
Please don’t crash Primoz!!!
How many times can you say TP's full name?
Chris...when comparing Roglic to Pogachar, you seem to overlook that there's a 9 year age difference. Given the caliber of Pogachar, how can Roglic be on par?
Pogi had upped the ante in season 2024. His dominance in someways in my opinion is a message of challenge for the other's. I'm hopeful that the competition will rise to the challenge and that would mean more excitement and drama to look forward for. ❤🚴🇵🇭
I do pray for Rogla actually have no issues in this next season and have a chance to compete
Yeah, it leaked like hell Chris! For 2 hours on national tv! 🙂 Your funny Chris!
🤔👍
Time to book my a/l from work. Plans chill and watch from the chesterfield 😂
Pogacar is far better now then when he struggled on said climbs.
How many years can a rider be at that podium level fitness? If Pog is at 4 or 5 consecutive, even factoring in the mutant level rider he is, is getting to 10 top years possible these days?
I have never seen anything from UAE that looked like real tactics. I remember Primoz once beating 3! UAE riders in a final head group of 4!
Jonas Vingegaard: "I think the thumbnail speaks volumes, right?"
Chris ,you forget Simon ride for visma
You'd have to think if Pogacar just relaxes and let the others try and win he'll be to strong and just come over the top of them at the end of the stages?? Unless Vingegaard turns up in amazing form . But it's also hard to believe Pogacar could put a season like this year back to back??
@@geoffreymccann2841 but why would his form regress?
@@J-cz7yv no just hard to stay uninjured and at that level without some sort of setback??

Grading tactics in hindsight is always easy.
I dont think UAE gonna let WVA make a break up the road like past years. I think UAE will shut hit down to avoid Tadej been isolated up the road.
And if they stop taking Ketones and Carbon Monoxyde, what would happen in Tour de France 2025?
Need a Tony Martin, uh they got the hour record holder now so let’s see what this can do J.
This is a pogacar route !!!
More than 6 stages this year you think?
@@J-cz7yv My money in on 5. But won't be disappointed to be proven wrong and Pog wins more.

redemption tour for tadej i think tour is capitalizing on storylines. col du loze, hautacam, ventoux are all climbs visma and jonas have bested him. he is entering prime and in rainbow his shouldn't need extra motivation but could help. just want everyone healthy gc leaders and there domestiques. a mcnulty like rider i think could make uae tour team stronger ayuso experiment failed. jay vine is good option as well.
I can't see JV beating Pogachar for the next few years
With Pogi this strong it’s hard to see it happening. 🤔👍💪
Sorry Chris, but it’s time now to admit that Roglic is not on the same level as Pogacar or Vingegaard in the TdF fight
Time trial will put him in yellow, if he does not get it before, and then he will cement it few days later. The rest of races could be picked for record books and prestige. Paris - Roubaix might see his debut, now that he checked everybody's pulse and picked up cobbles of Flanders
Who? "He"?
@ZENmud Donald "the" Duck mate
Pogacar? Why would he take yellow in the ITT? Unless maybe if he already has a good lead on Remco before it, I don't see Pogacar taking yellow in that stage.
@MDP1702 My dear good nice sir , your question does not make any sense. Why would he take the lead unless maybe if he already has the lead?

Do you not know what you posted yourself?
"Time trial will put him in yellow"
If Progresgaçar makes again the progres he has made this year he will be Eddy Merckx and Vingegaard Joop Zoetemelk for the rest of his days. Only a superteam in superform could do something, but anough?
Vinegaard is an unknown quantity for the next Tour. Roglic is past it.

Jonas will be good. Roglic we can only hope is healthy before and during, then he will be good to go. 🤞👊💪
@@bendardania have never sensed that. But you created an interesting narrative in your mind
@ the audacity of replying to a comment about stuff that certainly you know very little about. “I sensed”, he said…. lol
@@kkryspinbingo!
Let me tell you how much I like Jonas:
The greatest gift Pogi could have given me is making Jonas cry like a baby hugging his wife. Am I sick in the head for saying this. Maybe a little. ;)
Do TTs on cx bikes with some dirt, a table-top jump (like 10yr old bmx kids do), a couple 8-10" logs to bunny hop, a twisting technical climb, a sand pit, maybe a skinny... bring some skills to it. No more expensive dangerous elbow steer TT bikes & Star Wars helmets please.
Visma Star Wars helmets had to be the worse ever. 🤪😂👊
34 of the top 100 in the last gravel worldchampionship were Belgian, imagine them riding as 1 team 🙄😬
The gravel championships aren't regulated to function as a normal national event at this moment, they are regulated as a free for all, which then turns into trade teams because if riders get the freedom, obviously they'll prefer working with/for other riders they ride with the entire year.

UAE just seems much stronger now than Jumbo.
What do you mean 'now"? Visma was severely crippled the last Tour. Next year with Campenaerts , Yates, Jorgenson , Wout etc they will again be a force to be reckoned with. Not thinking in anyway Team related.
Please stop callin Remco a kid. Tadej in his age had already 2 TDF won :D
Until he wins two Tours de France, Giros and/or Vueltas he will likely be seen as 'the kid' of the big four. It's not an insult it just is what it is.
Pogacar is something special though, he's literally already seen as the GOAT or that he'll be that shortly. Not quite good to measure other riders with.
And it likely has just to do with Remco being the youngest of all the top riders (top 10 at least)
So barring a crash or mechanical you think there is no way for Tadej to lose?

He said he pulled of his best numbers ever..
Ayuso needs to bail the team. Almeida and Yates are good players 😅
It wasn't Leaked. It was officially announced. Do you really need clickbaiting as well?
Visma should copy the events that happened in the Vuelta this year with Ben o`Connor stealing 5 min. They should send Jorgensen on some big Endeavours in the beginning, and let him chase the yellow jersey and achieve 3-4 min advantage, so UAE must do the work then Jonas can attach him self to the back of POG.
UAE will not allow this and surely they will chase him with big engines Politt, Bjerg and McNulty and I know Pogi has Almeida, A.Yates, Sivakov and Vine this time in the mountains 🏔️
I will always believe Jonas was "dirty" for the 2023 TT...no way he produced that kind of power...without "help".
Jonas reminds me Michael Phelps with lactate tolerance. I'd give JV the edge in 2025 because I think he will have a chip on his shoulder after shades of dis from Pog & Remco. Maybe Roglic is the wildcard if Redbull winds him up and throws him to the front .
Huh
Huh
Jonas has been doing better and better every year vs Pogacar, only the injury made him not improve as much this year, if the trend continues Jonas will be better than Pog in the high mountains again next year.
Cant wait to see what happens tho, you gotta love those 2 phenomenal talents and down to earth guys !!
@@Stavros_Polymeropoulos I don’t think you can honestly say that it was only the crash. And the year after year is tough to say, do you discount Tadej crash in 2023?
My concern is Jonas's team is not as strong as it used to be while Pogacar's is now stronger.
@@J-cz7yv Tadejs crash would have only made him unable to do super high intensity training(meaning his surstained power would only take a tiny hit) yet he lost a minute on a 30 min TT(ofcourse Jonas's decenting was far superior to Tadejs back then, but thats why i only said a minute), to then losing way more when he was "dead"
And if you then look at this year where Jonas was in a hospital bed for several weeks, (wich is a massive difference) yet the fact that he was still able to make the tour look kinda close there for a couple stages should tell you something.
I'm here to build hype for next year and when I look at the history between the two my bet is on Jonas winning, but man it's gonna be close.

Primoz is past it. Even before he crashed this year he was losing time in the mountains. Its the pog years im afraid now that the team has the best climbers going. Jonas said his priority is his kids so he aint going to be taking risks like he did in the past. Sadly it looke like its going to be the sky years all over again for 8 yrs and cycling will become boring. Remco can probably compete in one week races against pog but not 3 week gt's. If he dominates again ill have to find another sport where its competitive. The sky years where so predictable and boring and then there was a cloud over froomes head after some dodgy test results making it obvious why he was so dominant
