+ oats are soooooo DELICIOUS 🤤 I have mine savory, I toast the dry oats in olive oil until they get a nutty brown color and beautiful aroma; then simmer in chicken or mushroom broth with some garlic, thyme, pomegranate molasses, maybe shredded tuna or chicken or crumpled cheese; then some blanched carrots and green peas. super satisfying lunch/breakfast/dinner/whatever and so hearty. 😍

It IS!!! So many of our clients are resistant to implementing nutrition changes (such as 'its okay to eat oats as part of your breakfast') and will reference specific influencers who said otherwise. It is especially tricky with our ED clients who are already afraid to incorporate more foods. We wish influencers would be more cautious about how they are sharing their opinions - because people listen!

Glad you touched on the six pack abs for women! I’m a postpartum fitness specialist and find this to be a common goal. I also think it’s important to note that the length of a woman’s torso plays a large part in whether or not she will be able to have a perfectly flat stomach. MANY of these influencers are also taking PEDs and hiding said fact from their audiences so they can sell programs.

Old(over 60) ballerina here. I had a ballet teacher who always said women should have a “teacup” below the belly button. She was a brilliant woman who encouraged health over appearance. She was a very rare ballet master who wanted her students to be successful humans, not unnecessarily impossibly stick thin “types”. I never had the best “ body type “ for classical ballet, and struggled to get work and make a way for myself. As a very mature adult I discovered I do have a great body type for Transnational Dance ( Fusion of Oriental, hip hop, jazz, modern, Flaminco). That is- NOPerfect type, but plenty of passion and joy.

Pretty much every morning I have been eating oatmeal with hemp hearts, flax seed, and cottage cheese for the bulk and then sweetened it with this pumpkin spice mix I made from canned pumpkin, spices, and syrup. Was delicious, kept me full, and had a bunch of good stuff in it. Also, thanks for the AG1 information. As someone who has been on a LONG fitness journey, thank you for talking about the six pack thing. I have come to learn (the hard way) that a lot of women, including myself, cannot maintain a six pack in a healthy way. I have lost my period for months because I was over-exercising and under-eating. Now, I am happy to say I my body fat levels are at a healthy level, I eat appropriately and I actually enjoy working out (and I have my period back, I didn’t think I would miss her until she was gone).

I see that many people, according to Abby, hate plain oatmeal. I don't really get that, maybe because I don't eat big portions of it or often. But I for one truly enjoy eating pain oats soaked in milk, no sweetener needed. I have eaten even plain oats soaked in chamomile tea with joy too. Obviously it's better with jam, fruits, a tiny pinch of salt, some spices and boiled to a porridge or cold with yoghurt instead of milk. But it's not that bad even plain. I never even knew people had a problem before I started watching this channel.

On the six pack, yes. I had gone into the body building field more than a few years ago. To get to the point of having a visible six pack was more than I was willing to do. I look healthy at 28% body fat but in the fitness world of standing on stage, you need far less body fat to show case the muscles. As I was losing body fat, the scale went down and so did many of my trousers that I wasn't able to wear. The other problem was that I was losing fat in my face, and I started to have more skin on my face which looked like wrinkles and I hated hated hated that. Your body doesn't lose weight in the areas you want it to lose, you don't get to choose what part of your body loses inches, and usually you lose it first, in the areas you don't want to lose. So, just be healthy is the end result.

THANK YOU FOR TALKING ABOUT THE CARNIVORE CLAIMS AROUND OATMEAL!! Some people in my family really listen to Dr Saladino, so much so that my sister told me after my very healthy vegetarian pregnancy and birth that maybe I should eat more bone broth and red meat because it’s essential for us and she was worried my breast milk wouldn’t have enough nutrients to “nourish” my baby… Anyways, I’d love if you did a video responding to all of the wild claims by carnivore influencers surrounding nutrition for conception, pregnancy, birth, and raising children. And maybe even Dr Saladino mini documentary about nutrition for pregnancy called “Nourished” or something. Because I sometimes feel like my family thinks we’re abusing our kids because we don’t feed them meat, even though their growth has always been great and their pediatrician has been impressed with their health/growth. We make sure that they’re getting healthy fats with every meal (avocado, coconut, cheese, eggs, olive oil, nuts, seeds, etc) and plenty of protein (lentils, chickpeas, tofu, tempeh, eggs, milk, white beans, black beans, pinto beans, hemp hearts, quinoa, whole grains, etc.). But even with us following the advice of RD’s on how to raise plant predominant kids safely, it’s like they’re just so convinced by Dr Saladino that we’re destroying our health in the long term. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

The lack isn't as much the protein but zinc, b12, iron, iodine, and calcium. Even women who eat meat can lack certain vitamins in their diet, and limiting their diet more will make it harder to meet requirements. For very young children, omitting dairy and dairy alternatives is where the lack of vitamins stem from because they rely on it at the start of their life and still benefit from it till fully transitioned to solid foods. Liiterally omitting whole food groups without replacing what is being lost was the big problem for families thinking, "its from the earth it is all they need" when in reality it wasn't. It seems you're replacing what you're omitting as best as you can and following doctor advice, not at all the same as other cases. What I would suggest is a vitamin supplement in addition to the diet and support from a nutritionist and not just a doctor/nurse monitoring health. If you meant nutritionist when you said RN, then great, normally however it stands for Registered Nurse which wouldn't be what you need. A bad diet noticeable enough to cause side effects would be way too long of a wait and why a nutritionist is important when starting a major diet change.

Could you do a video (or maybe a short) where you show how you make your oatmeal and what you add to it? Your combination of add-ins sounds delicious!
Another idea: I recently read an article that mentioned that spinach and sweet potatoes are high in heavy metals. Could you do a video where you talk about heavy metal toxicity? I understand that there are certain kinds of fish that should not be eaten in large quantities because of heavy metals, but I had no idea that was true about vegetables. I always thought that spinach and sweet potatoes are among the healthiest foods you could eat.

As someone in the medical field, thank you. I get so so tired of the absolute nonsense I see on tiktok and trying to explain to people when they argue with me. I just stopped. And as a gym rat married to a gym rat, my husband told me the same thing about abs! I have a short torso and never had them healthily ❤

That is a new take on the dirty dozen I have never heard. When I studied environmental science in the 1990s it was the name of the 12 most toxic pesticides. The problem then was that some of them was still not baned in some countries outside of Europe.

If you are brave and can hear current Scientific Facts you can at least widen your perspective. Have courage, be brave, open your mind, research old & new science based data. That goes for all topics not just dietary health. Evolve ❤.

Honestly even having a six pack as a someone male/amab/etc, from what I’ve heard, is already scary. Just blatantly having super low calorie intake, just protein, etc so maybe having a six pack shouldn’t be such a big deal for body goals.

I'll admit I buy a lot of organic vegetables, but I am doing it to support local organic farmers and I believe that it's better for the environment. That said, I totally get that it's a huge privilege to be able to do so and I buy lots of non-organic foods without guilt whenever I need to fill out my grocery list. There have certainly been times in my life when organic food was simply not in the budget -- and no one will convince me that a lovely dish prepared with conventional produce will harm me if my family more than not eating veggies at all.

I like that you remind your audience that practicality and accessibility is still key in regard to the ways we eat on a daily basis. Eating always has been political in some aspects, but it is more importantly a necessity and nowadays the propagandas are so extreme and contradicting that we end up confused at best, too hard on ourselves and, in the worst case scenario, harmful to ouselves nd our family. As an european citizen though I would just say that our vision of glyphosate is unforgiving and leaders have to take a pretty clear position on this topic because citizens and environmentalists are still pushing for the complete ban of its use. This battle is still going hard.

People should really listen to different sources of information before making an educated decision about their health. We simply need to recognize that corporations and big pharmaceutical companies are not out to help people. Shitting on people for being actually informed about a lot of ingredients is a perfect way to discredit yourself to smart people. Are you a pediatrician?

Abbey!!! Would you ever consider doing a video for advice about nutrition for people on night shifts?? I will be working 7pm-7am starting soon and I am pretty worried about when/how to eat for my best nutrition and avoiding bloating! Please please consider this i think it could help a lot of us. 🙏🙏

    • @LulaMae21
      @LulaMae21 5 місяців тому

As a long time night shifter, when you can eat may be determined by your job demands. I'm a nurse and keep snacks in my backpack where I'm charting and my water bottle (don't tell the Joint Commission lol). Get your vitamin D levels checked regularly and consider a supplement. I found out in September that mine was 20 and it needs to be at least 30 lol (taking a weekly 50,000 IU prescription to get it up).
Another important thing is rest. Find a routine that works for you so you can get enough rest to keep your body in good condition.
