I'm not big on Wings myself, but "Go Now" is a great song. I probably couldn't see it charting "today", as music tastes have changed so much since 1964, but I can totally see it as something that would be a huge thing coming out of the English skiffle craze of the 60s. It's a shame Denny and Clint had to leave for The Moody Blues to become huge, because I just can't see them being as big without the driving force of Hayward and Lodge, who, of course, wrote or co-wrote the majority of Moody Blues hits.
It's an amazing version. Everything is phenomenal. Paul and Linda wonderful and modest backing vocals and Paul's strong bass line. The guitar solo is simply great. And Denny's is transported by all of this and delivers a unique prestation. I love it.
The three of them WERE Wings, and Go Now was his #1 song when he was with the original Moody Blues. It was very nice Paul included it in his repertoire.
It does not get any better than this..Denny Laine has the voice of an angel, Paul and Linda singing background....This performance is not something easily outdone by any artist, so glad its perserved for the ages.
@@lisamatthews4986 It's on the Wings Over Anerica cd. A really great live album. Lots of songs from McCartney's Venus and Mars album including Listen To What The Man Said, plus Maybe I'm Amazed, Lady Madonna, Long and Winding Road, Bluebird, I've Just Seen A Face, Blackbird, Yesterday, Let Em In, Silly Love Songs plus Go Now. It's a really great live album. McCartney's first live album.
I remember hearing this on the radio so long ago. Im now 67. Life is so short. Just when I was getting the hang if it do I realize my "time is almost up
RIP Denny! My favorite version of this song ❤ love Linda and Paul’s beautiful harmonies, Jimmy’s amazing solo and last but not least that song was made for Denny. I listen to it all the time 🎶🎹🎸🎤♥️
@@no834 Linda could harmonize pretty well, but couldn't sing a lick solo as she proved in, I think, Wing's last album. Kind of like yoko-could harmonize okay but couldn't sing a lick as she proved in the Double Fantasy album.
Denny's performance on the original record is one of the great performances of the Sixties. I was fortunate to see him live a couple of times over the past 2 years, and he still has it.
This song brings back the memories from my youth in the 70’s when life was much better than it is now, who’d have thought our politicians would fuck up the world eh!! RIP to Denny and of course to the brilliant Jimmy bringing us his awesome skills on lead guitar. Gone but never forgotten ❤
Denny Laine is alive and well, playing and singing his heart out most any night of the week.... ....and, who knows, maybe even coming soon to a town near you!
Culbrain Channel Archive .. he was just here near Nashville last fall. A friend had meet & greet tickets but his wife couldn’t go so , Lucky Me ! He was absolutely great. I still had my 45 rpm Go Now single, a Wings over America ticket from ‘ 76 ( a rock hoarder l am ) and got a beautiful picture of him playing that gorgeous double-neck..he took time and signed them all & did pictures with everyone there. And his performance wasn’t bad either. A really happy, funny guy still. Ok, I’m through bragging, but he is a hero of mine.
You've got to admit Denny Laine deserved his place in Wings- he proved himself a talented singer and songwriter in The Moody Blues then co- wrote and played in some of Wings' greater hits, and is as humble and polite as ever in spite of his disagreements with Paul over not getting the credit he felt he deserved and other personal issues. It's amazing considering how most people would've made a big deal of it and talked trash about a Beatle to the press for some attention.
Vale Brian Frederick Arthur Hines AKA Denny Laine. Great musician who held his own with the best of them. Sir Paul has penned a very nice post on Insta. R.I.P.
But that was not an original MB's track. However, songs like Nights in White Satin and Tuesday Afternoon and Story In Your Eyes and Just a Singer In a Rock N Roll Band were.
When I first heard this song I was a teenager, and liked the melody. Now as an adult, who has loved, who has experienced rejection, and who has rejected affection from others, I find these lyrics very moving.
I know this isn't officially Denny's song.. but he brought it to life and it is still one of my favorite tunes. Miss you already Denny. God Bless you. AJ
Saw this at Hammersmith Odeon in 1973 during the Wings "Red Rose Speedway" tour. one of the greatesthits of the sixties. Paul & Linda did backing vocals for other artists in the studio, but Denny had them on stage week in, week out!
i love the first part of this video too, with Denny singing so effortlessly and beautifully; to be able to throw off such beauty casually; what a gift he has
awesome to watch this time and time again. Looking at Denny sing that, I was amazed just watching him. He looked so much like John Lennon at times. Love this song. Paul and Linda are great too. Saw Wings when they came to Brisbane all those years ago. Got some good photos too as I was up the front. Carol > Brisbane.
Song was written by Larry Banks and Milton Bennet. The Moody Blues recorded their version in 1964. ⛄🎅🏼🎄🙏🏼 Jimmy played a great lick here! And as usual, Paul filling in the bottom with his extraordinary Bass line ❤❤ And the great "Denny Laine" singing lead and piano! RIP Denny! Everyone on that stage has/had an amazing life story. But one individual who is rarely mentioned is Joe English, the drummer. Read about him sometime. When I think of Linda, Denny, and Jimmy, I still feel sad. I do love this song and I've been fortunate in my long life to have seen Paul in concert when he was a much younger man and still had a terrific voice. We're all fortunate that Paul is still alive.

This is Denny Laine's masterpiece. So wonderful that he got to perform it when he was with Wings.
It’s original version was by Bessie Banks
Denny Laine still kept is voice as the original. Great back-up from Sir Paul McCartney and his beautiful wife Linda. Cheers.
Merely superb. Denny Laine was a headliner in his own right. Very classy of Paul and Linda to back him up like that.
10 years late in this reply, but Denny was in Wings at this time.
Ever heard the isolated tapes of Linda's "singing"?

Denny was once the leadsinger of the Moody Blues in the early 60's
