It's a shame that Ray Thomas couldn't live long enough to join his band mates on stage. But it's better late than never I suppose. RIP Ray & Graeme. Thank you for the music.
@SRG1966 I didn’t know that The Rolling Stones had that power and didn’t like the Moody Blues. That makes sense. The Moodies are too moral for Mick Jagger.
Such a tragedy that it took so, SO long for the Moody Blues to finally be nominated, then inducted into the RRHoF. I would have loved to have seen flautist Ray Thomas (who passed away only 3 months prior to this event) on that stage, and to hear his whimsical words of wisdom that night. This band had been so deserving for this moment for so, SO long.
The Moody Blues should have been inducted in the Hall of fame decades ago...! Better late than never...! One of the greatest bands ever! Justin Hayward--MUSICAL GENIUS!!!
I share your opinion as well. There is that age-old question that a lot of people ask..... If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and you could only take one album with you, what would you decide on. I have never wavered away from The Moody Blues.
Funny that the Rock Hall included Denny Laine from the original lineup of the hit "Go Now," and not Clint Warwick. I know he and Denny didn't stay very long, and it's been 20 years since he passed, but snubbing Warwick is just another black mark on the record of the Rock Hall.

Denny Laine got to say something and he wasn't in the band for five minutes, yet Mike, who contributed massively to the band got sidelined, that's a disgrace.

Maybe John carrying out a request from Mike's family.....they may have said to the other 4 something like : 'Mike has prepared something to say, but when the time comes and if he doesn't seem quite up to it mentally, then gently shepherd him from speaking'. Hence the confusion, and, if so, hats off to John for taking a brave action, just because he happened to be in the nearest position to do it . There's no way the likes of John or Justin would have prevented Mike speaking out of pettiness.
I grew up on the Moodies. Seen them a couple times live as a kid in the early 90s when Live at Red Rocks came out. And for a couple decade I did not listen to them. Then-and even now-I still always thought of them in a dreamy way unlike other artists, and they inspired me to pick up the guitar then drums at around 8 years old and drums when 12, and now 24 years later I’m still drumming and composing my own music that’s ambient orchestral in nature, inspired, after all, by them. To me, they’ve always had that pensive, spacey, timeless quality. My dad has their early albums. Every decade they updated their sound to make period-piece music. As an adult, I came back to them and found them more relevant than ever. I can’t believe; it’s so surreal; that they are old, that we lost Graeham and Ray. In our times of mass social unrest and catastrophic crises that we all know about now, their songs are coming back in vogue. As if they ever weren’t in one way or another fitting for any modern generation. It’s so surreal traveling with them from one generation to the next, and they’re still playing. Beyond words. ❤
My dad played this music for me on a reel to reel from the time I was 1 year old. All the songs are ingrained in my soul. I'm am now 50 with children and grandchildren and I will play these songs for them as my father did for me.
A great addition to the Rock and roll hall of fame. I just wish Ray Thomas would've been able to hold out a few more months so he could see his life's work celebrated. I'm sure he was smiling in the hereafter though. Also R.I.P. Graeme Edge, Denny Laine, and Mike Pinder.
About TIME! Finally the RRHOF woke UP! The Moody Blues are one of the best bands in the world, their music is gorgeous and their lyrics so thought provoking, not that "rap" crap!!! How anyone can even compere is beyond me! I voted for them over and over again and as far as I am concerned they should have been in there 25 years ago!!! But at long last they are and poor Ray, passed before this big day...he is outside now, looking in. Congrats Moodies!!!
Nice that they got in but the R&R Hall of fame is a sham. Too many inductees that had nothing to do with rock. That said I have loved the Moodies since 1966 when they were a blues band. Have seen them over 30 times beginning with MSG concert in 1969. They are still my favorite band. R.I.P. Ray...
I remember walking to my English class in 9th grade and the class next door was playing Nights in White Satin. I fell in love with the Moody Blues then. It was 1966. ❤️🙏🏼
I thought they could have appreciated Ray more in that speech, however, I'm sure that would've have been quite emotional so understand. R.I.P. Ray you were the best in my book :-)
I don't think any artist, any band, knows how grateful we all are for the countless moments of deep emotions, of joy, that they give us every time we listen to their music and see them perform it.
Pleased to be a lifelong Moody Blues fan! I shamelessly yet pleasantly harassed the R&RHOF since 2006 to induct them! So deserving! This group transcends time by appealing to generation after generation with their haunting lyrics and musical genius!
Recently I heard of Mike Pinder's passing; it saddened me, although I wasn't really shocked or surprised. Mike, may you rest in peace alongside your Moody Blues bandmates Ray Thomas and Graeme Edge.
Took too long to recognize this amazing unique beautiful band. I have owned On a Threshold of a Dream for many years in many medium. They are my top two bands along with Bee Gees. Love!!!!
On a Threshold of a Dream...An album played by my mom early 70s and my favorite all my life. I have purchased on tape, CD a couple of times and now enjoy on UA-cam today. I can't explain how they make me feel and if I ever had the pleasure of meeting Justin, I know I would have fallen in love with him immediately. He is a beautiful fantasy and when he sings it's over the top. Amazing...they bring tears to my eyes. So much love and respect. Award long overdue.
In the 60's when Days of Future Passed came out I use their music for short films I made as a kid. Then after each new album came out I bought them. Their music is totally unique. I heard Stern lobbying on his show many times for them to be inducted, and it worked, to my amazement. Thank you Howard. I have no clue what took this band so long to be here. Thank you Moody Blues for all your great music that I got to include in my world.
I was born in 67 and my earliest memories and memories of my whole life, always in the background are their songs playing, albums, concerts and to my own children, and their children(my grandchildren):as long as I live Moody Blues are part of us our family,I'm sure, our families generations to come !! Thank you Moody Blues
Class act since day one. Shame on you Rock&Roll Hall of Fame, for making them wait this long! Love to heat your reasoning, as other countless, less deserving, we’re voted in!
One of the greatest rock bands ever. I grew up on Moody Blues and they have been a tremendous inspiration to me. They helped me to achieve my goals and they continue to inspire me.
So glad The Moody Blues finally got inducted in The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!!! You're right where you deserve to be! Just what you want to be, you will be in the end,..no truer words Justin!❤
Love The Moody Blues!! I'm very glad they were finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!! It's about damn time!! It took long enough for them to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. They should have been there a long time ago. Just my opinion. 💖💖💖
I was fortunate to be at just the right age when the Moody Blues arrived (I graduated HS in 1972.) There were so many great bands then - Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, Pink Floyd. But the Mood Blues were always my favorite. Their music resonated with me. Their lyrics brought deep emotions to the surface, across a broad spectrum of circumstances and situations.
The RRHOF needed them more than the Moodies needed the Hall. Shame it took so long that Ray never saw this night, and that Mike has been largely forgotten by younger fans.
The bands of this era were just unbelievable, true musicians that were masters of their craft. So much superior than what’s around today. Moody Blues, one of the greatest in the last 60 years.
Man Denny is very unappreciated. Co-founder of Moody Blues and Paul McCartney’s writing partner from 1971-81. Plus he has at least 5 great solo albums.
I'm so thankful and so glad for the Moody Blues! They've come such a long way and should have made it in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame years ago, in my opinion. God bless The Moody Blues!
You've got another member of the Family! They are some of the greatest artists and all round nice guys that l know! Their Families are so very welcoming that you feel you've known them forever. I know what it's like to be married to a celebrity and so l give them credit for being able to juggle the worlds of celebrity, normal Family life, and the long absences of the spouses when they are touring. I will always be a Moody Blues Fan, whether they tour separately or together. God Bless Them!

Thank you Moodies and congratulations. Thanks for taking us on a fantastic cosmic journey. We luv all of you RIP Mike P, Ray T & Graeme E. Thamks Mari for introducing me to the Moodies
Thank you Moody Blues for all the great songs. You captured our minds by creating and writing songs that took our minds to a different dimension of what music could be. And kept us in the car until the 5 minute or longer songs was finished. Truly professionals in their work. Kind and personal. Their music sits at the top shelf of my mind with the Beatles and Stones.
After the Beatles and Beach Boys, the best band ever. They should have gotten in in 1992 but it was a thrill to see them finally get inducted. Justin Hayward and John Lodge are such a talented songwriting, singing, musical duo, Graeme Edge a fantastic drummer, and Mike Pinder, while he doesn't say a word here, his pioneering of the mellotron, his skills as a composer and vocalist are amazing.
Come on now, the Moody Blues are much better than the Beach Boys, and I like them better than the Beatles, too. If I wanted to listen to some music and I had those three to choose from, the Moody Blues would win every time.
As being from Houston Texas, I Only Reference such wonderful Musicians, Composers, and Poets as, "My English Rock & Roll Musical Invader Buddies", and certainly so many from All Over The Earth, that simply wanted to get ❤ together, and Dance to The Rock & Roll "Induced" upon US All by Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Bill Hailey & The Comets, Ray Charles, and so many 1950's Super Stars, as now History, in Cleveland, Ohio!
@@alan30189 Beatles first for me and then The Moody Blues and The Bee Gees third. I respect The Beach Boys and love a few of their songs but rarely go out of my way to listen to them.
I’m so glad that the Beatles hit all over the world because through them we in America came to know and love British singers. Until then all we had were American singers. We’ve been musically enriched by enjoying so many British singing groups and the Moody Blues are at the top of the list. God bless them all. I don’t know why the Moodies were snubbed for so many years but thankfully someone making the decisions finally wised up 😊.
I can relate to almost every single one of their songs iin one way or another. I cry when they appear on stage and when i watch concert DVDs my heart swells with love and adoration.

THEIR ALBUMS FROM 1967 TO 1972 WERE MASTERPIECES
NOBODY gave MIKE PINDER a chance to talk....his songs on the CLASSIC 7 MB albums are priceless
Denny Laine got to say something and he wasn't in the band for five minutes, yet Mike, who contributed massively to the band got sidelined, that's a disgrace.
My thoughts exactly
The man has dementia and they spared him from making a fool of himself
@@curlyken01 'Many MB fans have asked why I did not speak at the induction but by the time the Moodies took the stage we were 5 hours into the ceremony. The oldest of the inductees were up the latest. The speeches were a bit anti-climatic at that point and it was only fitting that the current touring members spoke first. I am happy that we finally got inducted for our fans sake'.
Moody Blues ...one of a kind all of the time. Awesome catalog.
The greatest band ever, without a doubt !!!
I raised my Husband (of 48 yrs ) our daughter (now 40) and 3 grandchildren all on their music and they all know the lyrics, too.
Me also. I raised my daughter and 3 grandchildren on their music and they have gone with me to many concerts. I spread the wealth!!!!
Amen brother!!
I played this album in '77 for my Dad and he loved it, especially that iconic piano riff after Tuesday Afternoon
A great addition to the Rock and roll hall of fame. I just wish Ray Thomas would've been able to hold out a few more months so he could see his life's work celebrated. I'm sure he was smiling in the hereafter though.
Also R.I.P. Graeme Edge, Denny Laine, and Mike Pinder.
i loved youzr music so much... and now since april ... RIP mike pinder - the last of the original moody blues :(
R.I.P. Ray...
Aww Rest in Peace Mike Pinder 😔 beautiful band 🥰
The Moody Blues touch my SOUL...every time I listen to them! ❤
How the hell do (c)rappers get in their first year eligible and the Moody Blues get snubbed for 30 years? WTF!
It’s called Affirmative Action
@@hertzair1186 = discrimination.
The Hall of Fame judges are populist clowns. That's why.
Yeah !!
Politics
I don't think any artist, any band, knows how grateful we all are for the countless moments of deep emotions, of joy, that they give us every time we listen to their music and see them perform it.
Rest in Peace Denny Laine
thanks for your music
Pleased to be a lifelong Moody Blues fan! I shamelessly yet pleasantly harassed the R&RHOF since 2006 to induct them! So deserving! This group transcends time by appealing to generation after generation with their haunting lyrics and musical genius!
Recently I heard of Mike Pinder's passing; it saddened me, although I wasn't really shocked or surprised. Mike, may you rest in peace alongside your Moody Blues bandmates Ray Thomas and Graeme Edge.
Why did they take so long to honor them. So very worthy of this.
Pure class and talent beyond belief. Their music is timeless. Genius.
Yes.
Mike Pinders' songs are some of the best that the Moodies recorded, it's a pity he never got to speak here.
Pinder chose not to speak. He doesn't agree with the politics of the R&RHOF, and he's not alone.
Agreed
Thank you Moody Blues!
You lads have five generation of fans!
I was born in 67 and my earliest memories and memories of my whole life, always in the background are their songs playing, albums, concerts and to my own children, and their children(my grandchildren):as long as I live Moody Blues are part of us our family,I'm sure, our families generations to come !! Thank you Moody Blues
Playing their songs !!
I was born in 1951 and have followed them since their beginning
One of my favorite groups, they were in a class by themselves!! R.I.P Ray & Graeme two of the best!!
Spot on! They ARE the greatest band before, now, and forever!
I weep just to contemplate the music, in my heart every day of my life. I love the Moody Blues. Easily my number one favorite band.
Just took far too long for this to happen. But Im glad it did
So glad The Moody Blues finally got inducted in The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!!! You're right where you deserve to be! Just what you want to be, you will be in the end,..no truer words Justin!❤
Moody Blues -- damn it if they didn't compose the soundtrack to some of my best moments. Congratulations and much love!
Naturally, I voted for them.
My fave member: Mike Pinder! (But everyone is amazing.)
Love The Moody Blues!! I'm very glad they were finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!! It's about damn time!! It took long enough for them to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. They should have been there a long time ago. Just my opinion. 💖💖💖
Justin Hayward i have always been a huge fan.
Awwwww I LOVE THE MOODY BLUES SO MUCH!!! I'm so sad that Ray and Graeme have passed away....their music made me feel soo good
Ray gave the moody blues their greatest gift. They're induction to the rock and hall of fame. Ray's presence was there with them in spirit.
You mean the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame.
I’m so happy for them “The Moody Blues” it’s about time isn’t it. Simply amazing and outstanding. My favorite band ever.
Finally the rock n roll hall of fame is complete with on of the greatest bands ever the moody blues HELL YEAH MOODYBLUES4EVER
The Moody blues I love you too because you don't know how many times your music has saved me in the time of need.
My most favoured band. Love their music and lyrics - great psychology and spirituality no matter the intent.
The bands of this era were just unbelievable, true musicians that were masters of their craft. So much superior than what’s around today. Moody Blues, one of the greatest in the last 60 years.
Thanks Ray ,you Mighty Oak.
November 2020 & the Moody Blues are still one of my top 5 music artists of all-time!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man Denny is very unappreciated. Co-founder of Moody Blues and Paul McCartney’s writing partner from 1971-81. Plus he has at least 5 great solo albums.
Politics don’t last but Legends live on forever!
Moody Blues I Love You.
I'm so thankful and so glad for the Moody Blues! They've come such a long way and should have made it in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame years ago, in my opinion. God bless The Moody Blues!
Hi how are you doing Mr. Timothy☺
Moody's are so much a part of my life that all who know me pretty much all Moody Blues fans now !!! Love them like they're my family
Hi, Dawn!
dON'T KNOW ALL THE FANS, MY BRAIN CELLS CAN'T HANDLE MILLIONS OF NAMES. bUT i CAN SING all THE SONGS FROM THE BEGINNING. i HAVE 45s, CDS DVDS OF CONCERTS WALL HANGINGS HOODIES EARRIINGS AND NOW A FACE MASK!!! cAN YOU UNDERSTAND THE DEEP LOVE FOR THESE GUYS??
I feel the same, and I cry as they take the stage, even when I watched their induction ceremony I was alone but I got very emotional!!
Yes they are and Justin Hayward is my contemporary born same year 1946! Thanks!
I lovr justin's modesty
He is such a gentleman
@To Tell The Truth So...your rant was proven to be B-S...and something you have no idea what you are talking about...since Mike is NOT dead, and you said he had. ( FO Moody Blues after Mike died !)
@@capismama2922 mike was there chatting to Justin and with smiles on their faces
Justin did mention Mike that troll must be deaf as well as daft. 😤
Love the type of guy Justin is, he's just my type of guy...and he married someone from my hometown lol, we were so near and yet so far away.
I named my son, Justin, after him and he too is a musical talent an undiscovered singer, song-writer who was bought up on Moody Blues music. 🎶🎵🎶🎸
Justin IS my absolute favorite. and now he has his Tuesday Afternoon video shows
What a great bunch of cosmic travelers...what in the hell would I have done without them?
Thank you Moodies and congratulations. Thanks for taking us on a fantastic cosmic journey. We luv all of you
RIP Mike P, Ray T & Graeme E.
Hi how are you doing Mr. David☺
Well deserved, long overdue, simply one of the greatest bands of all time!
Yes.
Your order of the top three bands ever is correct.
@@alan30189 Beatles first for me and then The Moody Blues and The Bee Gees third. I respect The Beach Boys and love a few of their songs but rarely go out of my way to listen to them.
The moodies got their famé thanckfully Mike Pinder s mellotron !!! WITHOUT Pinder it was the crap noisy moraz circus!!!
So many memories with their songs
I can relate to almost every single one of their songs iin one way or another. I cry when they appear on stage and when i watch concert DVDs my heart swells with love and adoration.
MB's++1970-1987 way back machine

One of the great great groups of all time !!!!
Congratulations Moody Blues & what an absolutely beautiful venue.
