Does anyone remember this show? It was actually just a few ratings points below Full House's first season but was cancelled. juliette lewis was in this!
I remember this show and the way it ended. I also seem to remember watching one episode and it being interrupted by ABC News to show coverage of little Jessica McClure being finally rescued from that well.
I was so angry when this show was cancelled. I actually wrote a letter to ABC and sent it. Of course I never heard back, but I loved Elizabeth Pena, it breaks my heart to know she is no longer in this world with us. She was a gem and a underated actress. She's an angel now and then. RIP and we love you and will miss you Elizabeth Pena! hugs to you & your beautiful family!
I think it just wasn't the right time for this show. Ratings are everything and this show didn't seem to have it. The idea and concept was great. Another 10 years later and it would have made it. My thoughts anyway
harooni22 What are you talking about? I love Lucy was on in the 1950s and was one of the most popular shows of all time! The red-head-blue-eyed Lucy was married to Cuban--Ricky Ricardo. Stop blaming everything on White racism because that is, actually, the real racism.
harooni22 I'm Italian, too and I see Franco Columbu, but What makes you think that, though? They loved the idea when the show was a HIT like "I love Lucy," or "The Jefferson's," etc...This show had bad ratings. Again, don't fall for the Leftist brainwashing that says anything you don't like about the world is due to White racism.
So sad to hear about the passing of Elizabeth Pena...I actually remember her from this series,as well as Daniel Hugh-Kelly,(formerly of HARDCASTLE and McCORMICK).And,of course, future movie star Juliette Lewis! I had no idea she was on MODERN FAMILY!(then,again...I hardly watch that show...or,many other shows for that matter!) RIP Elizabeth Pena!
Same here. This theme song is tattooed into my memory. I can't remember where I put my car keys half the time, but this song as well as the theme for 'Northern Exposure' are just simmering in my brain. BTW, I wished someone had the clip of the series finale to this show. That was one of the biggest WTF moments I think I ever seen on TV.
Although I can't remember the show that much (I was only 4 years old when it premiered), I think this is one of the prettiest themes ever composed for TV. It's one of the few themes that incorporates a flute, and it kinda reminds one of another flute-based theme from an oft-forgotten ABC oldie: Room 222.
omg, i can't stop laughing. i can't believe you have this intro! i can't effin believe it. youtube is a goldmine. i remember this show. it was silly. i remember juliette in it very well. her acting was very unusual, original, very un-teenagey.
My uncle used to watch this show because he thought Elizabeth Pena was a cutie. He also liked her in a Disney movie where she got naked, called "Down and Out in Beverly Hills" (yep, a Disney movie under their Touchstone production company). It's sad what alcohol can do to a person.
She didn't get naked in that film. There was a sex scene she had with Richard Dreyfuss but she didn't get naked. That was a funny film though. She also was in La Bamba and Blue Steel. Also, this was created by the same guy who did Grand.
You just rawk for finding this and putting it up here! I loved this show. I love Juliette Lewis. I always loved when dora would call the husband "mr. Peter" hahah this show was cute.. love the 80s man!
I remember this show came out when I was 6 i got to watch it before bed, i remembered they cut in the middle of the show because of baby jessica in the well.
Yup. It was hilarious! It was very 80's humor, but much better than the sappy family shows running at the time. I was also amazed at how quickly it was pulled.
I was 13 when this show was on, and man did I have a crush on Juliette back then. Did not see her again until Kalifornia, and well, that messed with me a bit.
This show aired after full house and during its 13 episode run it had better ratings then full house. While full house was not yet a power house or this show either its interesting how full house become a legend and this was scrapped. This wasn't fantastic either in ratings but it did do better at least for that 13 episode trial run.
Robert Clouse's "Dreams of Glass", from the parts I saw of it, had the distinction of making Anglo actors sound as if they were speaking English as a second language. "I Married Dora" shared this distinction. It had a premise that was at best, movie-length, or one episode. I am very happy that Elizabeth Pena and Juliette Lewis went on to better work.
That's my cousin Elizabeth I am John pena from Miami the last time I saw her was at her father's funeral we all came from New York city and her father had a theater in New York we would 🏃 run around it and behind the curtains hide and seek with her sister Tanya she still lives in New York Elizabeth's mother died some time back . I live in a house 🏡 in Miami alone I miss the 80s we would walk the beaches all of us she always had her arm around me as we walked.
I remember an episode where juliette lewis gets a tattoo by adora's friend. Some Spanish dude who laugh all crazy while he's doing the work. The husband gets all pissed at dora. Show seemed a little stereotypical now that I look back at it.
to be fair, that scene was a 'dream sequence' in Peter's mind, exposing his hidden stereotype beliefs --- When he learns the reality of what happened, it opens his mind ... he grows as a character
OH, Yes I remeber this show, I really liked it, I saw all the episoeds until they canceled it , dont know why, it did have potential to last at least 4 or 5 seasons, OH WELL....
Who can remember Juliette Lewis' character's name? All I can remember is her name cursed friend, Mandy Ingber, and how they would go to shoe stores wearing tight blouses and drive the salesmen crazy. I can't tell you where I parked my car at work today, but I remember that?
All of those odd random freezes could give you a brain tumor. Who thought that was a good idea? No wonder it got canceled. I wonder how many people the opening ended up killing?
I actually remember this and I disliked it. The only thing this show will be remembered for (aside from the illegal of marrying someone so they don't get deported) is its way it ended. "What Happened?" "It's Cancelled" "The Flight" "No, Our Series." That is like the most original way to go out on a show.
Yes it aired right after full house. ABC luckily choose to keep full house going for the rest of season despite low ratings. This intro looks interesting I must admit.
I remember this show, barely. Nothing memorable about it except the finale. I imagine its ratings sucked because the whole story revolved around a guy who married his illegal alien housekeeper to keep her in the country, not cool.
I remember this show and the way it ended. I also seem to remember watching one episode and it being interrupted by ABC News to show coverage of little Jessica McClure being finally rescued from that well.
I used to watch this Friday nights on ABC at my grandmother's, and what's really making me feel old is that this was before "TGIF" even existed.
RIP Elizabeth Pena :(

@@kraken138 white wannabe racism. DNA proves otherwise. Mary Baconism is real.
I LOVED this show. It was so sweet and innocent. Not like the GARBAGE on today.

Daniel Hugh Kelly is a good actor, and he is also very, very cute!!

I wonder who that percussionist is for this theme song. It might have been frequent Hollywood percussionist Paulinho Da Costa.
I remember this show, just saw that Elizabeth Pena died yesterday so I decided to look this up,forgot the name of it but I remember her and her accent
I loved this show.
I used to like this show. Rest in peace Elizabeth Pena.
short lived but remember it so well
The 80s sitcom were on point back then!!
I loved this show on Friday nights...ahhh the 80's!!!!
Oh my gosh, so I'm not the only one who remembers this show. It was a nice show too.
omg, i can't stop laughing. i can't believe you have this intro! i can't effin believe it. youtube is a goldmine. i remember this show. it was silly. i remember juliette in it very well. her acting was very unusual, original, very un-teenagey.
Brian Keith should have guest starred as a Judge who got McCormick to marry Dora.

You must not be watching the R version.
Little trivia tidbit. Elizabeth Pena and Daniel Hugh Kelly were both from the same town, Elizabeth, NJ

I loved this show! I had the biggest crush on Juliette Lewis when I was a kid from her air-heady character.
Yup. It was hilarious! It was very 80's humor, but much better than the sappy family shows running at the time. I was also amazed at how quickly it was pulled.
RIP Elizabeth

This song was catchy

Premiered the same night as Full House 30 years ago

I liked the show.
Oh, man, what a trip! I totally remember this, but only because of seeing it here!
Fun fact, the creator and executive producer of "I Married Dora", Michael Leeson, had previously enjoyed success as co-creator of "The Cosby Show."
And was that percussionist for the theme song, perhaps, frequent regular Paulinho DaCosta?
@@jnadle1 I really don't know.
I always thought that was Paul Provenza.
I remember this so well! I was mad when the show was canceled.
I loved this series, I thought it was funny I was very upset when it was cancelled
i loved this show! i am the same age as juliette lewis and back then watching it i thought she was so cool
I do remember this show and the last episode as well. They wave goodbye to the audience as the camera man pans out.
i had such a crush on dora
I used to watch it, lol, long long long time ago.
I loved this show!! I was so pissed when they cancelled it!
A TV-G logo in the corner...this actually reran someplace? Anyone happen to know where it reran?
I've always been curious to see an episode myself...
Elizabeth Peña was beautiful 😍
Another show that should be put on DVD.

I used to love this show. It was cheesy but I still liked it.
Back in the day when the worst shows on television were actually semi-entertaining.
I remember an episode where juliette lewis gets a tattoo by adora's friend. Some Spanish dude who laugh all crazy while he's doing the work. The husband gets all pissed at dora.

Same for 2nd Noah.

so am i, it has to be online somewhere...
I have posted that unexpected ending here on UA-cam. Search: "I Married Dora" Unexpected Closing Scene from Series Finale.

Canceled by The Network, While Filming a Scene at The Airport
Hey, batmek22... You never added more videos in over a year. But when are you getting some more videos?
I loved Daniel Hugh Kelly better on another ABC show called HARDCASTLE AND MCCORMICK
All of those odd random freezes could give you a brain tumor. Who thought that was a good idea? No wonder it got canceled. I wonder how many people the opening ended up killing?
you don't happen to have any of the clips of the actual show do you?
I Married the Coyote X.
I hate sitcoms but watched this just to see Elizbeth Peña.
I remember this, damn Elizabeth Pena was cute.
I actually remember this and I disliked it. The only thing this show will be remembered for (aside from the illegal of marrying someone so they don't get deported) is its way it ended.
"What Happened?"
"It's Cancelled"
"The Flight"
"No, Our Series."
That is like the most original way to go out on a show.
It only lasted about a year and a half before it was canceled.
Yes it aired right after full house. ABC luckily choose to keep full house going for the rest of season despite low ratings. This intro looks interesting I must admit.
elizibeth pena was the only reson i watched it
TV show openings don't get more rinky dink corny than this.
This show didn't last a season. ;P
Is Juliette Lewis still a thing?
This was a Hit Show, that was Canceled for some Strange reasons
I remember this show, barely. Nothing memorable about it except the finale. I imagine its ratings sucked because the whole story revolved around a guy who married his illegal alien housekeeper to keep her in the country, not cool.
Two Words - Mandy Ingber
File this one under REALLY BAD TV SHOW THEME SEQUENCES
Cringe 😂
I really loved this show. Best series finale ever.
