Hell yeah! I think this is the best intro from the 80s. Hard af to sing right, and the bass and guitar jammed 🤘I’m playing this in my kitchen right now...basking in its nostalgia
Literally today is 11/11/22. I am 44 years old and I hadn't heard this song in over 30 years. The memories it's bringing back are awesome. Thank you for uploading my friend.
I’m 40 and I haven’t heard this song either in about 30 years. Funny though because I don’t remember the show but I kinda remember the baseball in the beginning looking fake.
Literally today is 11/18/23. I am 20 years old and I hadn't heard this song in over 3 1/2 months. The memories it's bringing back are awesome. Thank you for commenting on Logan Family, my friend!!
These sitcoms made us feel like maybe this was how life was supposed to be. Togetherness, support and mostly love. It’s anything but. Brings back memories. Love the theme song.
It’s amazing the thought, care and musical depth that went into TV theme songs of the 70s & 80s. This is a little masterpiece of a song, lyrically and compositionally. A banger, as the kids might say. Thanks for uploading this, whoever you are!
This is one of the few theme songs that I don't mind listening to over and over. It's really nice. I started DVRing the show back in June and I really like it.
Lyrics Life is such a sweet insanity The more you learn, the less you know In the heart of every family There's a love that starts by letting go [Chorus] Step by step and day by day Reaching out along the way Hand in hand, we face our fears Together through the years [Verse 1] We get closer, through happiness and tears And in our hearts we share The laughter and the sadness A special kind of madness Together through the years [Outro] Life is such a sweet insanity It's nice to know your friends are near In the heart of every family There's a love that's waiting there for you Through the years
The minute I hear the theme to the intro of the show, visions and visions of my early days as a toddler to my early childhood pop up in my head. The days when tv has great shows with heartwarming music with awesome intros instead of this reality tv nonsense about shows going absolutely nowhere. Ugh, take me back to the 80’s!!!!
Oh my goodness that was Roberta Flack's voice all along the time. Was too young to appreciate her talent back then. She has one of the most remarkable & pleasant voices of all time. My favorite song is her duo with the great Donny Hathaway, the close I get to you.
Of all the 80’s nostalgia, this is the one that strikes the chord. This show was everything - all versions of it, but the Sandy era was true magic. I remember I even entered a contest where they were re-naming the show after Valerie’s Family. They gave 3 options, and I chose Hogan Family. Can’t remember what I won for that. If this or Danger Bay ever gets released on DVD, I’m gonna flip out.
I remember this show. I thought Jason Bateman was going to be the next Michael J Fox especially since he was Teen Wolf Too and MJF was Teen Wolf. I never realized Roberta Flack sang the theme.
The first one wasn't a big hit but it was released around the time of the first Back to the Future movie. And it did get a cartoon made out of it. They have one episode with Todd Howard (neither Bateman nor Fox were involved in the cartoon)l. No additional cartoon episodes were made with Todd Howard beyond that one. They also never made a cartoon version of the Hogan Family either whereas they did with other shows like Alf.
@@robinorlowski2449 I remember the Teen Wolf cartoon. I used to watch it around 1986-87. I liked Teen Wolf more than Back to the future. Teen Wolf was the first Michael J Fox movie I saw. It was such a cool, 80s movies. Basketball and werewolves.
@@aaronflowers8881 the cartoon was actually better than the live action movie--Chubs and Scott are not jocks. I figured they did other competitive things like Debate, academic competitions. Two movies Fox was in were made into cartoons. This and Back to the Future. This one ran for two seasons even though there were no toys for the cartoon. Cartoons were basically advertisements for toys. I'm sure if Teen Wolf Too had done as well as the first movie, Todd Howard would have been a reoccurring character in the cartoon.
@@robinorlowski2449 compared to the budget of the movie it was a hit. it just wasn’t as big as back to the future, but it still was considered a hit movie for Michael J. Fox
come s on Monday nights at eight on NBC for seven years. I began to love this Roberta flack sung the the theme classic and I keep reminisce the way the music sounded and the words gives my heart a flow. I know it's a spin off of Valerie harper in Valerie, but I definitely missed Sandy Duncan on the Hogan family, playing her sister Christine. I may not be the fan of the show but I really constantly live the song it pulls my strings just to be a song writer publicist. thank you aunt Roberta. Happy holidays.
This show could have been curtains after 2 seasons when Valerie Harper left over a contract dispute. But instead, Sandy Duncan was brought in and imo did a great job taking over. She and Edie McClurg(Mrs Poole) saved this show and allowed it to have a few more seasons. I watched this every Monday as a kid growing up and love this theme song.
It was really because of Jason Bateman. He had become the real star of the show even when Harper was still on it. NBC probably would not have continued the show had it not been for Bateman.
🙋 I watch this show every Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. on antenna tv, yes I know they are nothing but reruns but there's a lot of episodes I haven't watched and there's nothing better else on TV in the morning. Still enjoy watching them.
I remember recording this bit of the song off of our TV on a boombox. I then took the tape and popped it onto my walkman and played it non stop as a teenager. We didn’t have iPods nor iTunes , we didn’t stream our songs and we didn’t have youtube but man when you want something, you’ll find the way to make it happen.
Man I could cry. Wouldn't you love to go back to those days? And that lead guitar is fantastic!!!!
Yeah, sometimes I miss those days

Roberta flack and that guitar make this track special.
if i could, i'd go back in time to live the rest of my life in the 80's.
I'm in my 40's, grew up in the innercity and there's just something about this theme song...
Out of all the 80s TV show intros this one is the most nostalgic for me
Family Ties and The Facts of Life for me.

Memories when life was so simple
This song has been stuck in my head for 30+ freaking years, 30 years!! I knew I would never find it but finally found it on Tiktok of all places.
Ohhh the memory rush whenever I hear this song..😍 never gets old ❤️
Nice song. I didn't watch this show, but I did hear the intro song and liked it.

All of those Miller/Boyett produced shows had very similar types of intros. They all were great!

Something about the theme song of this favorite childhood sitcom, it always makes my heart smile.💗
This makes me sad take me back 😢😢😢
The only American sitcom I use to rush home from school from to watch in time on tv in the uk in the 80s!
That's Roberta Flack's vocal in the song.
They need to release this on dvd
Totally agree! I really wish they would.
Nice clean All-American show!!! Love it!!!
This is one of the few shows I remember being excited for each week, I think it was Tuesday night. This opening made me so happy. I know it’s weird.
There's nothing weird about loving a classic TV show such as this one
I loved this show!
You can watch the whole series on Antenna TV.
Right on :)
I sure watching not only because of the series but because of Roberta Flack

The more you learn, the less you know
In the heart of every family

Step by step and day by day
Reaching out along the way
Hand in hand, we face our fears

And in our hearts we share
The laughter and the sadness
A special kind of madness
Together through the years

Also, this opening is set in cold climate, ice hockey, cubs, skiing. The original was all football scenes. Did the series move to Chicago?
This is such a "feel good" musical intro.
The great Roberta Flack! 80s sitcoms had some A+ singers on their intros. Not gonna lie, miss being a kid watching these shows back in the day

The greatest sitcom intro song ever for an unfortunately very forgettable sitcom. Song is still a banger in 2024.
Roberta Flack sang it
I started singing this song one day and I could not remember the show so I had to Google some of the lyrics to find out which show this was from
