i know i'm gonna sound a little strange while typing this piece but, after listening to the theme i have a tear in my eye. i've never heard a theme this inspiring ever, "make all our dreams come true", "will do it our way", "never heard the word 'impossible'", this theme got into my dream of becoming an illustrator and i'm about to finish college to get to Chicago. with Laverne and Shirley, this theme and the show itself seems to make my life a little brighter. it will do the same for many too.
love it laverne and shirley one of the greatest sitcoms ever. This was the time in history when you truly were free, I wish I was alive in the 70's, it looks like such good times.
I love this show.Even though it's from when my mom was a toddler,I still love it.I love the theme song too,and I make sure I watch it every night after Family Ties.
The 70's sitcoms definitely had the most delightful theme songs. The memories give me goose bumps. Three others that I love are, Mary Tyler Moore Happy Days The Rockford Files
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.. Schlemiel, Schlimazel, Hasenpfeffer Incorporated. Schlemiel and Schlimazel are two Yiddish terms. A Schlemiel is an inept clumsy person and a Schlimazel is a very unlucky person. Hasenpfeffer, is a traditional German stew made from marinated rabbit. German, because the show was fictionally based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Where there is a lot of Beer Manufacturing plants and pubs. Cause Germans love their beer. Even their baseball team is called the Milwaukee Brewers, like the Milwaukee Beer.. Most of the population in Wisconsin, immigrated from Germany in the late 1800's..
growing up during the 80's, I remember coming home from school and watching reruns of What;s Happening, Lavern and Shirley, Happy Days then an hour of Three's Company. Then I think an hour of Mash during the early evening
Laverne and Shirley has a nice opening theme. I used to watch this show in syndication with my grandmother when I'd visit her for dinner. What good memories!
Used to watch TV all the time, but I haven't watched much TV in the past 10 years. These were memorable, over-the-top characters with good, positive values, and very entertaining story lines--stuff you could easily watch with your kids or with your parents; and everybody could enjoy it. Man, what's happened with Hollywood.
I remember watching this show when I was a little kid because I loved both the music theme and I was in love with Shirley, I wanted her to be my girlfriend XD
I watched this show as a kid in the 80s on Nickalodean and TBS; especially in the summers during the morning and afternoon. One of many 70s shows I consumed in my youth. I don't think anything on modern television compares to this type of stuff. I wish this and a number of other shows aired more.
yea, when they moved to California and half the town moved with them. LOL Then when Cindy Williams left so obviously the show went down the toilet. But they still kept the name LAVERNE & SHIRLEY. (I read somewhere that that was for contractual reasons or something)
Boy oh boy, did that ever put a big ol' grin on my mug just now! I wasn't a terribly huge fan of the show, but did enjoy it enough. But the song & video just now brought on a big fat rush of nostalgia! Although for what? I don't even recall that period being such a great one for me... hmm... Oh well, a cheap/free grin is A Good Thing in my book no matter what or why, so I'll take it and be on my way, humming a happy tune. :)
Me too. Cause it's classic goodness to the core!! It was a better period in time. I loved this show as a kid. Of course they made the show a bit b4 I was born. But I still loved it! take care.
70's the greatest sitcom era hands DOWN,those was the days when you ran in the house for two reasons, 1 to avoid a ass whipping for not making curfew, 2 missing out on a sitcom that we "AMERICANS" sat at home as "FAMILIES "and shared each night together.
The best thing about tv shows back then was the theme song and intros; unlike the shows today with the exceptions of a few shows, most of them gets no intro, or the few that does gets a 10-15 sec. intro with the name of the show and the cast pictures.
laverne and shirley were first introduced on Happy days. they were dates of fonzie and richie, then they gave them their own spin off. robin williams also first appeared as 'mork' on happy days, which also lead to his own show 'mork and mindy'.
I've been watching these intros all night..picturing what day the were on and the time and what came after it or before it...I remember after Laverne and Shirley Mom would say "now get to bed"..hahaha
This wasn't used for very long. Also, if you look closely, the clip with Carmine spinning toward the girls is slightly different than the one used for most of the other seasons. Their outfits are different and Laverne is sporting a dew rag.
In my former life I was one of the back up singers on this song. No that was just me as a kid in front of the TV doing the aaahhs. Yeap I was born this way.
On this date in 1983 {May 10th} the last episode of the ABC-TV comedy series "Laverne & Shirley" aired... The debut episode was on January 26th, 1976 and ran for 178 episodes...
The only bad thing about this video is viewing the junk on tv now and it makes me wish more than ever that the shows, music and movies of the 70s could come back.
I have such fond memories as a kid of the whole family sitting down to watch those great sitcoms of the 70s - Lavern & Shirley, Happy Days, All in the Family, MASH, What's Happenin, Sanford & Son, etc. - and they were all family appropriate. Unfortunately you can't do that today. My kids (12 & 8) have literally never seen a primetime drama or sitcom. The former are far too mature/scary/violent, and the latter are nothing but sex. What a shame!
I was under 10 years old when L&S and Happy Days were hits. I remember thinking that Milwaukee must have been the best city in the world in which to live.
@tonymontana1974 Yes. In fact, there are episodes where Henry Winkler appears as the Fonz. If I'm not mistaken, I believe Robin Williams appeared as Mork. Any of you older wiser folks..still get the freaking chills when hearing this amazing #classic!?! #Goodoledays.
when I was a little kid, I never dreamed I would be searching for these old theme songs.
Farewell Penny Marshall!!!!! Sleep well. I love your Laverne!!!!!!!!
The Best TV Theme Song ever. So worthy of the best Comedy Duo ever. A modern day Lucy & Ethel. Laverne & Shirley are forever in my heart. ❤️
I do remember every word, amazing how these things stay with us after so many years!

why do i get chills when i hear these themes, times were so much better then IMO
I love this song! I run around the house dancing with a mopp and clean whilst singing to this song :) :) :)
love this song: it's a very beautiful song..could listen to it forever....
This is superbe. Possibly the greatest intro theme ever. From the golden age of American sitcom.
Magnifique!!!

Thank you so much for this clip, it always brings a laugh, they were mad, good tv.

love this show it's so sad that after many years we hear they fought over who has more lines then the other person .
the memories this song gives me always bring me to tears
LOVED THIS SHOW
The show was at its best when they were in Milwaukee, when they moved to California the show was not the same and went downhill.
yea, when they moved to California and half the town moved with them. LOL
Then when Cindy Williams left so obviously the show went down the toilet. But they still kept the name LAVERNE & SHIRLEY. (I read somewhere that that was for contractual reasons or something)
The same thing when Suzanne Somers left Three's Company. For the rest of season 5, the credit sequence remained the same until season 6 updated it.
Schlemiel, Schlmazel, Hasenpfeffer, Incorporated . I love this show and this song, now I know what it means.
Rest In Peace, Penny! We will miss you.
A message from Europe: I will never see this show in my lifetime but a huge thank you to lem144 for uploading this video.
The original 2 Broke Girls.
Yea, but in 10-20 years nobody will reference Two Broke Girls
30(?) years later, and I can still remember all the words.
They don't write theme songs like this anymore!
Love this theme song.
awe..such great memories....awe.....so wonderful...i love it...thank you....
Boy oh boy, did that ever put a big ol' grin on my mug just now! I wasn't a terribly huge fan of the show, but did enjoy it enough. how can i love this so much? : )

thank you for sharing my sweet friend...yes i love the show too and still do.....those were the days.....i love the 70s.....
Best theme ever!
brings back memories!!!

i love this show i still do!!!
And guess what? I still ride my bike w/my bestie friend on it today, just because we can (as grandmas)! Reminds me of Laverne & Shirley always.
I miss this show! I need to watch reruns!
Per-fec-tion!Wonderful show and theme song. Such a sweet and simple time. XoxoThe Clarences (Robert, Erin and Leslie)
i love laverne and shirley and this song!!!
Not a top ten show on my list but I enjoyed it enough. Brings back memories of how TV theme songs use to be much longer.
The best thing about tv shows back then was the theme song and intros; unlike the shows today with the exceptions of a few shows, most of them gets no intro, or the few that does gets a 10-15 sec. intro with the name of the show and the cast pictures.
CINDY Williams rest peace you and Penny Marhall gave me such joy as a child in the 70,s
I love This Show & song:)

Oh I loved this show!

I went to college in milwaukee because of this show and happy days. Its got a huge ghetto now.
Loved this show. Lenny & Squiggy were silly but soo funny.
Its been 35 years since I last heard this theme when I was a young kid living in Brooklyn......
We're going to make our dreams come true!!
i love the theme song the show was terrific!but when cindy left lost the magic-sizzle.
Oh wow, never seen this version before. Thanks for the upload.
Penny Marshall (Laverne) was on an episode of Mary Tyler Moore which was awesome. I love the Mary Tyler Moore show and Laverne and Shirley!
I loved this show and this song
Marc in NYC
Matt I'm glad to hear someone besides me thought Laverne and Shirley were cute.
Here in the UK they used to re-run this after the BBC Breakfast programme finished at 9:30. This theme tune reminds me of bunking off school.
THIS IS LIKE WAYNES WORLD
gee sent me
I LOVE THIS SHIOW! I MISS IT SO MUCH! AT LEAST I GET IT ON THE HUB! TEAR :(
I wasn't the biggest fan of the show but they did have arguably the best theme song of all time!
This wasn't used for very long. Also, if you look closely, the clip with Carmine spinning toward the girls is slightly different than the one used for most of the other seasons. Their outfits are different and Laverne is sporting a dew rag.
The best ever girl tv Show.
Just remembering the old days.😀
...Remember how when this show started it was publicized as " taking place during the early 60s " whereas Happy Days took place during he 50s ? :-)
Don't we all know all the words to these theme songs of the old shows!
In my former life I was one of the back up singers on this song. No that was just me as a kid in front of the TV doing the aaahhs. Yeap I was born this way.
I never found out until now that Michael McKean, who played Mr. Green in the movie "Clue", worked on this show!
he was also in "spinal tap".
LadyScorpio39 How about that!
"What are we doing?"
"Yeah, we've got tickets to Alice Cooper."

Take. That.
The only bad thing about this video is viewing the junk on tv now and it makes me wish more than ever that the shows, music and movies of the 70s could come back.
I saw it first run! In the late 70's and early 80's!
i love it omg the nostalgia i loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it
If you lived through the seventies, when you hear this song, you have to admit that then was better than now. Oh and by the way: "Hello" lol!!!!!!!!!!

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 Schlemiel! Schlimazel! Hasenpfeffer Incorporated!"
Goodbye Laverne. Penny Marshall.
Good ol days. Good times.
Gerard sent me here.....
Rest in peace, Cindy!
Hey, i'm 12 and can't get enough Happy Days, Gone with the Wind, Salted Clams, Fine Dining, Leslie Howard, or Clark Gable.
thanks gee
As I remember in most countries there is a disclaimer saying these women escaped from a mental hospital. I can kind of see that now.
Lighten up, Gregory
Gerard way sent me here 😂❤️❤️✌️😝👏🙌
Aw. Again Nick at Nite thanks for rerunning this when you did.
My Favorite
Thank you, Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis.
CLASSIC.
Pretty sweet.

"hey what are we doing we have backstage passes for alice cooper"
That is a very amusing idea!
