    Hello. You can call "copy" not "fake". A copy is a product very similar to another but with its own brand. A fake is a product copying another one and using same brand

    There is a reason for the low price, missing pieces, and pieces does not fit properly. I even have one that was so stuck I had to go at it with a hammer. I mean if you're seeking for a good building experience go for Lego, it's worth the price

    As you said there are companies selling lego compatible bricks. Is it legal to sell lego size bricks with their dimensions without their logo on it ??? And is it legally right to produce and sell your own design with exactly same lego size bricks

    • @oldkid820
      @oldkid820 Рік тому +1

      Yes, selling lego compatible bricks is legal as those patents protecting them have expired. You just can’t copy lego mini-figures because those are trademarked. An example of this is the company COBI that design their own original sets legally.

    Glad you have never bought a LEGO kit with parts missing. I bought 3 kits in the last month, the ROS Millennium Falcon (missing chair part), 40th anniversary AT AT (missing head part), and Kylo Ren's Shuttle (missing cockpit part). I have not miss placed or lost them, did not accidentally use them in the build in the wrong place, etc. The kits came without the necessary parts. So like I said, pleased you have done well. Not so for me.

  • @alexkass84

    Well, the cost doesn't come first when you actually think about almost any product (if you can afford it at all). General advantages are quality and support. If you don't get desired number of bricks of desired quality, you can contact support or local retailer. And in case of any product of any Chinese "brands" - you can't. Lego is RESPONSIBLE for their product. And any fake - don't.
    This is besides that some sets needs almost industrial engineering, manufacturing and logistics processes etc. And all this things cost money.
    Fake industry gives no warranty, no quality assurance, no retail network and no support. If they did, their product would cost almost the same as the original.
    BUT! Fakes are good to get missing sets (as I did with my BMW R1200 GS, because original was discontinued) or get some spare parts. Or get loads of parts for your own project. Everything has it price, quality and function.

I know that there are other building brick sets out there, and they do a good job with their lines, but I only want GENUINE Lego. I accept the price, they were always worth it. My Lepin Ghostbusters Firehouse is awesome. Really happy with it and it looks exactly like the Lego one. No missing pieces and the brick quality is good too and they all fit really well. Overall quality is fantastic after i've finished building it last year. Saved me from spending so much on the original one. One year on and it still looks good. Goes well with my genuine Lego Ecto-1 vehicles 😊

    • @MKu64
      @MKu64 7 років тому +3

      Imran Becks And yet you gave money to a company that just blatantly identically copied the hard work of other people. Lego not only paid licencing fees they also had experienced and passionate designers putting in hard work to develop it, and Lepin just copies the parts with lower quality materials and the instruction book.
      It's obviously up to you, but whether it looks the same or not, doesn't really change that it's a copy that is probably only allowed/legal because of the country it's made in - but legal or not, they don't deserve the money in my opinion.. cheaper or otherwise.
      Every dollar people give to Lepin is a dollar less to Lego (and then less reason for them to make the kits in the first place)...
      Competition is great... say Mercedes vs BMW.. but this is not competition, they are not developing their own product at all.

    • @imranbecks
      @imranbecks 7 років тому +4

      Valid points. But perhaps not everyone is willing to spend the amount of money Lego is selling the original one for. Which is basically the reason why I chose the Lepin version. Sorry Lego. Had it been slightly lower, I'd be all over it!

      The good thing about Lepin is that prices on both new and used Lego sets are now crashing which gives people from poor countries the opportunity to get access to real Lego. And that´s great because we shall all help the poor.

      leakycheese leakycheese unbiased? LOL I don't think you are using that term correctly. He is completely biased, which is ironic because he used to review LEPIN... in fact he had over a hundred thousand views from them which equates to hundreds of dollars from ADSENSE. This guy is one of the biggest hypocrites I've seen in awhile. He's one of those guys that doesn't practice what he preaches.

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese 7 років тому +4

      TT Travels I think you are overestimating by at least an order of magnitude on the money people make from UA-cam adverts. The reviewer presented both sides of the story and highlighted the pros and cons in a factual manner. While unbiased works for me, if you have a semantic issue with the wording please substitute that term for balanced. For these reasons I return your challenge on use of terminology and put it to you that you are using the word hypocrite incorrectly. Please can you explain just how the reviewer is a hypocrite? Thank you.

    • @jpbeck825
      @jpbeck825 7 років тому +3

      leakycheese simple... he shames people for buying LEPIN, while he makes/ made LEPIN reviews for profit ( what you think he does this for free?), in recent comments he states that he can't wait to buy new Lepin sets. Whilst telling other people that they maybe supporting terrorists, and slave labor if they buy LEPIN. That's why he's a Hippocrate. He supports LEPIN by continuing to buy their sets, but damn the torpedoes if anyone else buys them. These are his words, that he's stated, not conjecture.

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese 7 років тому +3

      TT Travels Well, I have not seen his recent comments or other reviews so can't comment on those. In this review he points out that the entire Lepin line is based on IP theft from Lego so that seems fair. If he has made shaming comments elsewhere about people buying Lepin then that would compromise his position as he seems to be a keen collector himself, and regardless of what he says the video clearly shows him buying the sets. I don't see him making any profit though as his ad revenue will only be a fraction of what it costs to acquire the sets unless you know he is being supplied review copies for free?

    • @jpbeck825
      @jpbeck825 7 років тому +1

      leakycheese I don't know, if he gets them for free or not, nor do I really care, but it's been nice chatting with you. With eight thousand subs and over a 1.7 million views he may not be making hundreds of dollars per video, but surely he's making some money.

    great video, thanks!! 1 more difference though - Lego have great customer service!! I have had on occasion some lego pieces that came slightly malformed with a new Lego set. I emailed Lego customer services. They were very apologetic and posted me the replacement parts for free straight from Denmark with free postage and asked if they could help me in any other way!! I've also emailed them with both suggestions and questions and they were very helpful. When I've ordered "bricks and pieces" from the company, over the phone, the staff took a genuine interest in what I was building and asked me to email them with pictures of my MOC so they could see how customers are designing their own creations! My summary: Lego customer service - AWESOME!! :)

    • @frauleinmona
      @frauleinmona 7 років тому +4

      @DartVader. But it's NOT Lego's money when the set is retired and you have a bunch of sellers on ebay who are trying to make money for THEMSELVES and purposely overcharge for these Lego sets because they know that people can't find them anymore. So, I don't feel bad AT ALL by buying a Lepin version of a RETIRED Lego set. The only people I would be depriving money of by not buying these retired Lego sets are the ebay sellers. So my conscience is clear because I know I'm not doing anything wrong. And THAT is THAT.

      Nice idea in principle, but Lego takes a different view on Lepin. Stolen artwork and stolen designs are how they see it. No one is doubting that the bricks themselves are free to copy, but Lego pays a lot for licensing and development whereas Lepin pays nothing.

  • @PeeperSnail

    I completely agree except for the whole "Lego won't have missing or wrong pieces ever" argument. It's very, very rare but it happens. I collect (or rather collected) Mixels and the Lunk set I bought included the wrong type of joint (a hinge instead of a ratchet), I had to find the piece from one of my old Lego sets or else I couldn't have completed the model.
    That said though, Lego is always the better option. Plus, there are many other building brick brands, like Nanoblocks and Mega Construx, that are of high quality.

    Hello Jake(or anyone who would be kind enough to reply)! I was wondering, when buying Lepin products, what is the chance of having a rare piece not being in the box? Is it the same as a small common piece that most people will have in their collection? If the chance is high, do Lepin pieces work with Lego pieces if I am forced to use lego pieces due to missing lepin elements in my build?

  • @kamranos

    I've never had missing pieces in a Lepin set. Even the 4000+ piece ones. Lego has had a bigger issue with missing pieces for me. Also, many of the "bendy" issues was true with the older ones, newer sets are much better quality.

    I have been playing with lego for 40+ years (big fan) and everything described here about lepin (never even seen a lepin myself) - discoloration, bending, missing pieces, misfit, perhaps except country of origin - applied to virtually every set Lego I have bought when I was little.Every technic bushing I have had a crack on it; half of my gray (not bray) bricks have yellowed into a different shade than the other half from the same castle set. 90% of my minifigs cant stand up anymore (loose joints) and half of them have cracks on them (and I am not talking about the chin straps on their helmets).
    I know Legos have gotten much better since the turn of the century... but consider these are plastics, I still expect higher quality plastic, especially for the price (think pick a brick buys). And I just get so upset when I hear people tell me how lego brick quality was better back in the days when they were manufactured in Denmark - I am pretty at least some of your broken ones were not made in China, cause I have a bucket full of broken bricks that came from Billund. Oh the lego logos on the studs? No thanks, its a dirt trap.
    Despite all my complains, still a big fan - too much fun to play with to hold a grudge.

    The missing or damaged pieces from a Lepin set is the only real worry I have about buying from them, especially a big set like the Death Star, where just a few missing pieces can stall the whole build. But I guess you can always find extra leftover pieces in your collection or buy the missing pieces on BrickLink
    And a funny thing is that I have an official Lego set were a piece was damaged. The 2007 Naboo Starfighter, one of the side panels was mangled at the end, like someone twisted it with a pair of plyers.

    Hello sir. I'm a new subscriber. :)
    Something to add on the difference of Legit and bootleg, when the instructions of both Lego and bootlegs gets wet, you just have to dry the LEGO instructions, and its good again, although crumpled. But the LEPIN ones are forever ruined. The pages of LEGO instructions don't stick together once you've sun dried them or with a hair dryer. But lepin no mater how hard one's try, I'll never be 100% readable.
    I got them wet by accident, when a pipe in the bathroom of my collection room broke. It was a sad day for me.

    Lepinnis a cheap variante but I as an exemple buyed the Lepin Imerial Star Destroyer and Millenium Falcon UCS but even by the Star Destroyer I had to order many parts from original LEGO especially the very expensive parts for magnet holders which often costs in online shops more than 25€ per part its incredible-.-'...
    But I found an internet page in which they where gladly 3 CHF per piece so I saved a lot of money;)

      Fast & Loud Cars
      Remembering that these aren't cheap because Lego is ripping us off... it's cheap because they didn't have to pay licencing fees.. didn't have to pay quality designers, passionate people and artists who feel like they had their work stolen.. or quality manufacturers of parts.. Instead, they just copy it and send it, so of course it's cheaper.
      But I get your point about you buying the cheaper option, but also in this world there are many things we can do that are both 'cheaper' but also might not be 'right' to do .. Personally I just feel that it isn't right that these companies are allowed to continue, and if I can't afford the product from the designer then I can't afford it.. but I wont give my money to a company that does what Lepin does.

    I like the idea of remaking retired Lego sets/kits, I don't like the idea of ripping off the company and scamming the customers, like Lepin is doing. I've been wanted the 10221 Executor Class Super Star Destroyer for what I can remember being 5 years. I found one for $40 on Ebay, not knowing it's not even Lego, I thought it was just Lego under a different name. The description said the box didn't come with it to make it cheaper, which already made no sense. Instead of 'STAR WARS', the box in the picture showed 'STAR WNRS'. They even used the same serial number as Lego did, 10221, alongside their serial number which was less advertised. I think Lego prices are outrageous now, but I just can't imagine giving Lepin any money for what they are offering.

  • @DJAsHeRMusic
    @DJAsHeRMusic 6 років тому

    Another point to note lego holds its value if you keep instructions and box you can sell sets a few years down the line and make a profit. Lepin on the other hand your be binning it or car boot sale for cheap. So yeah lego is expensive but it holds its value well.

    I love the "Super Star Destroyer" but LEGO didnt produce this set anymore and the price goes higher and higher. That was the reason, why I ordered it from Lepin.
    About copies of LEGE made by Lepin. LEGO is only a patent. Every patent end after some days and everyone can use it without permission. Some people hate Lepin for there copies, but these are allowed!
