Nah you're wrong, it is pretty significant. Lepin was huge and somehow evaded Lego for years. Also the quality of Lepin and how closely they replicated real Lego sets was way different and more advanced than the standard lego counterfeit.

Man, lepin was probably the only way I was going to get some of the larger kits. Getting whole sets, for what others sell just instructions for was awesome.

@@TheScoundresCantina there are plenty of cheap toys on the market besides lego. There are also other decent brick based toys on the market that dont copy others designs. Besides cant they just by a big box of lego instead of having to own every set if they cant afford it. You can also buy lego parts online for far cheaper than buying direct from lego or most retail stores.

Anyone else really disappointed in the community that the 501st and tank sets INSTANTLY sold out and are already selling for like $50 on EBay?
You know good and well they intentionally bought multiple sets to price gouge.

@@HydratedBeans no. People just need to be patient and wait a while given that lego is still producing those sets so it's only idiots buying them for more than what lego offer that drives that market. These sets will likely be on shelves for 1 year at least, 2 if they sell well I suppose.

That's a shame, especially for those people who are too poor to get the Lego sets they want. Although Lepin was evil in that all it did was make rip-off duplicates of real Lego sets, but it was good because it helped out those poor folks.
Once I bought a lepin lego set it was terrible the brick didn't fit each over and they break really easily
I did buy more retired sets from lepin (the mtt from 2007 for example). But lego doesn't produce it anyway, so I don't have where to buy it other than lepin or overpriced second hand on ebay or bricklink. Lepin is good for retired sets if u ask me.
It's not a shame, this company took copyrighted, patented designs and stole them, there is no such shame about them being arrested
@@mariushaakonssen exactly. People say lego is expensive but forget to think there are such things as licensing, designers, living wage pay for all staff, taxes and rent for their stores to all pay. Also something to bear in mind could be import tax as well for countries that dont have a factory or free trade like the EU.

Super expensive and sets release and go out of stock/availability so fast. They're just feeding the scalpers who then post those sets on Ebay for exuberant prices. LEGO's not treating their customers very well, that's why there's a demand for bootlegs.

@@harveysmallwood729 you clearly dont understand what I said. If you cant afford it then dont complain about it. Perhaps prioritise what you want to buy. No one has a right to buy something. Yes lego do charge a premium but that's because of licensing and paying staff properly and everything else they do. I highly doubt lepin can say that they pay their employees fairly.
I wonder if this will affect custom minifigure brands too. I massively disagree with Chinese companies duplicating entire Lego sets and making money off them, but when it comes to MCU minifigs that Lego never made, I have picked up quite a few from China as they’re such great value and it helps to fill gaps in collections.

In my opinion, lepin was a very good option for retired sets. Idk about some of you, but not everybody wants or has the money to pay 200-300$ or even more for a second hand star wars republic gunship or mtt set. Lego doesn't produce those sets anymore, and they are overpriced at second hand.
But most star wars sets are usually made again at some point. Even if it takes over 8 years for them to be. You could try buying just the parts online and substituting pieces that are a bit expensive perhaps.
@@coraldiamond1922 The problem is that some sets are very overpriced now. For example, the Grievous starfighter is like 80$ and the old one was like 50$, ~60$ with the inflation changes. Also, the newer mtt is way wordt than the 2007 one. Like, I don't like the fake stuff, but the problem is that lego has no competitors, and fakes are the only things that at least stop a little bit lego from being monopol.

Tbh I bought my first lepin set and the exact same LEGO set to compare them , the lepin set was 99.9 percent the same as legos set except for the stickers and getting a UCS falcon for $240 instead of 800 is one heck of a deal , most people hate on them just to hate because they’ve never bought a set from them

Just recently I was looking at a republic gunship lego for sale I seen a Lepin gunship with the light sabers switched from obi wan and anikin and the turbo lasers were switched backyards
Lepin: Sells bootlegs for cheap with decent quality and even custom stuff
LEGO: Is a gigantic scummy corporation that multiple times attempted to just do a way to appeal to the masses, sells even the normal sets for extremely high prices and decent quality, the exclusive sets that Lepin doesn't sell for much money are disgustingly pricey in LEGOs.
Not to mention sets going out of stock super fast, creating false scarcity to drive up demand.
All I know is that I was given one Lepin set... and the quality was terrible. Bricks didn’t stay together while others were too tight. Colours were off. It’s a second rate copy... you really think they are going to be as expensive as the company that pays their workers to design and build and license the original product?
Slight correction : the reindeer mold is not new (it appeared in the Harry Potter set number 75945, expecto patronum) but the "realistic" colors are! I was expecting this since it appeared in the HP set ^^

The only product worth buying from Lepin was (Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walker). I haven't bought it, but people sell the original at crazy prices.

I dont think Ali express etc should be shut down because there are olenty of things on there that are custom made designs on fake lego and are really good quality particularly military style figures which lego themselves would never make

They still copy other sets though and that's the problem. Perhaps they should of just produced their own stuff instead of copying other designs as well

I will probably get a lot of fire here for what Im about to say. But even if I think its fair that they should be sentenced for directly copying and selling some of the still sold official lego sets. And there its not such a good deal because apparently they dont sell the minifigures with their set, and you cant really get them separatly in lego. On the other hand, lego is clearly abusing of their monopoly, and even if there are good reasons for those bricks to be expensive (regulations, work, quality etc...), they are still making a huge profit margin too. There should be another way than disassembling existing sets to have good pieces (wich will of course be extremly expensive) in order to build mocs (even your own) for exemple, or just older sets outside of the brand, rather than keeping your bigger 3D models on computers forever. I wish lego would make an automated factory and sell bricks in vast quantities outside of sets. And at least lepin was provinding an affordable solution in order to get the large quantities of pieces needed to make some of those large moc builds (as long as you dont forget to also buy the schematics from the author too, in order to keep it fair). And at the contrary of what most people say, those pieces arent that cheap if you look at them with honnesty (they are compatible as megabricks are too for exemple). If you are not rich enough to buy a large model at the price sometime close of a small car, I assure you will look at it twice. Same thing for the older sets or rare ones only made in small quantities that are almost impossible to find or at unreasonnable prices nowadays. Its not all black and white...and now a door is closed. But I hope it will bring more opportunities especially for creativity, rather than reaffirming the grip of a single company.

The first and only time I was ever fooled into getting a knock off was of a “LEGO” Shak-Ti minifigure. It was behind a display case at the comic book store and I was pretty excited. I couldn’t get a close enough look though. It was not LEGO and the headpiece fell off if I held it upside down. Disappointing stuff.

Low key lepin is kinda good quality. My grandmother got me the lepin version of the ghostbusters fire house for Christmas one year because she got confused on the names. I mean it holds up. U can barely tell the difference other than the crappy mini figures

Lego is a luxury product, not a necessity. So ofcourse not everyone can afford it.
And not everyone should be forced to.
I'm ok with cheaper knoch-off bricks (for example kids won't care) if they're running legitimate and legal business. Stealing designs and licensed themes is not ok tho.
