    As a 2000's/2010's kid, the world of 80's and 90's cartoons really opened up a new perspective for me. As someone who wants to make my own stories, I've always felt like something was missing, and then i found the world of 80's and 90's cartoons.
    A lot of those shows (sci fi ones specifically) have been a big influence for me, especially ones like SWAT Kats being one of many heavy inspirations for one of my main characters.
    Sure, not all of them are masterpieces but to me, a cartoon doesn't need to be deep, have philosophical themes, over-emotional stories to be good, it just needs to be a genuinely entertaining show. At least to me anyway. Some anime MF is probably gonna find this and write a Great Wall of China worth of text about everything """wrong""" with what i just said

      Glad to see you back! I had a feeling it would be 1992 and 1997. I’m not going to lie I’m still sad Kevin Conroy passed away over a year ago. They really did a poor job on the new suicide squad game

      @adamshafeeq8685 I couldn't agree more. I'm not the type of person who judges any form of entertainment by any criteria other than "how much do I enjoy it". After all, what's the point of entertainment if it doesn't entertain us!

    In regards to American Animation, my personal favs were Disney Afternoon shows (that aired on Saturday Morning in my country Australia as Saturday Disney) Tail Spin, Duckwing Duck, Mighty Ducks, Little Mermaid and Aladdin series.
    Then there was the Warner Bros cartoons like Tiny Toons Adventures, Animaniacs, Batman and Freakazoid.
    And then Nickelodeon such as Rugrats, Rocko's Modern Life and Spongebob.
    However the animation that was aired for teenagers and young adults would still play a part in my entertainment and sense of humor long after their first seasons like The Simpsons, South Park, Bevis and Butthead as well as a fair few others.

      @@mikevivian3648 ever seen Ulysses 31? I just recently got my feet wet and it's not too bad for a quick watch-thru. My biggest complaint is the lack of core characters, as it's just Ulysses, his son, an alien girl, and a robot reoccurring in the episodes. Check-it-out! = -)

    It is a hard pick, anyone from that top 8 could have easily been number 1 as you said it comes down to personal opinions.
    My picks would have been 1993, 1995, 1998 and 1999 as my own personal favs in regards to cartoons that I watched.
    1993 (Power Rangers), 1995 (Sailor Moon), 1998 (Pokemon) and 1999 (Anime that followed Pokemon)

    I'm a little upset that 1993, '91 and '94 weren't higher - I don't really count live-action shows as animated by any stretch - I guess I can't argue with the list otherwise. I guess the list opened with a 6/10, then jumped straight into 7.5/10 before going up to the 9's and 10's!

    Censorship on Saturday morning cartoons literally got worse in the '90s, but somehow Exosquad had more deaths than the Batman and X-Men animated series did. Besides that fact that X-Men: animated series and Exosquad were borrowing writers from each other. and after Exosquad was canceled in its second season most of the writers moved from Exosquad to X-Men: animated series. Exosquad got away with a lot and I mean a LOT of stuff for a Saturday morning cartoon. The Neo-sapiens had no genitalia and Exosquad killed off a lot of main characters as well as having close to many death scenes as Better Call Saul did.

    • @chrisrj9871
      @chrisrj9871 3 місяці тому

      Just because X-Men didn't kill a bunch of people on their show doesn't mean it "didn't have genitalia". Instead of being another run-of-the-mill superhero show with cliche'd one-off plots and huge intent on marketing toys to children, the show started the continuing-storyline movement in animated shows and commented on societal prejudice. That shows genitalia.

    • @thisithis
      @thisithis 3 місяці тому

      @@chrisrj9871 Don't look at me man, all I know was the Neo-Sapiens can't breed, and when we see them naked in the opening they are like Ken Dolls. The other thing was X-men and Exosquad had close to the same coloring. But Exosquad came from Universal Animation Studios because I read the credits at the end and X-Men came from Marvel Comics. Playmates only had a temporary license to make the toys which ran out years ago and are back fully with Universal and Dreamworks animation. Yeah, Dreamworks Animation fully owns Exosquad now.

    • @dr.animaction
      @dr.animaction  3 місяці тому

      @thisithis Exosquad was definitely a torchbearer for mature storytelling during that era!

    • @thisithis
      @thisithis 3 місяці тому

      @@dr.animaction And if you did an Exosquad kill count video you would see that Exosquad had close to many death scenes as Better Call Saul did. This show was killing off main characters before Game of Thrones did. And not forgetting the blue-skinned genetically engineered Neosapiens had no genitalia. This show wasn't just dark, it took to mold and snape it.

      @@dr.animaction Certainly! Dr. Animaction, be sure to check out animated series from the next decades, the 2000s and the 2010s. Consider watching shows like Danny Phantom (Nickelodeon, 2004), American Dad (Fox, 2005), and The Amazing World of Gumball (Cartoon Network, 2011). Once you finish with the 2010s, feel free to also look into cartoons from the 70s. During the summer, I plan to watch the debut episodes of cartoons from the 80s and the 90s.
