    its wild how much we've seen in the two decades you covered. The rise and fall of several children show empires, the rise and fall of an entire network, the slow death of the saturday morning ritual, and the Asian Invasion of Anime and Super Sentai.
    Monster Rancher the show I enjoyed mostly because like a lot of anime that made it to our shores, the story actually had a conclusion. The game was one of my favorite playstation games and I remember it was what made me love the existence of the Mariah Carey Christmas Album because that CD could unlock Muu in the game.

      @MarkERoth I actually think anime became more readily available because of the same conditions that squashed traditional Saturday mornings, so a bit of a double-edged sword there!

    1999 was all about ending the century and millennium with a bang as the much-awaited 2000 was coming around the bend, and animation sure did that!

    The return of the Dr! Not too many shows from 99 that I watched as I was nearing the end of high school and as natural interests changed. However, it is always nice to go back and see what things looked like nearly 25 years ago.

      @KnowledgeLost Yep, finally back and getting back on track! I wasn't watching much animation during 99 myself, so the research for this series was a bit of a learning experience for me too!

      @@dr.animaction when you mentioned Starship Troopers I did see some of that while getting ready for school. At that time, the animation was mind blowing and had me believing the PS2 was going to look similar.

    Season 11 of The Simpsons, MTV Downtown, Rocket Power, Digimon, Dilbert, Monster Rancher, Batman Beyond, New Tales from the crypt keeper, and more to help to wrap up the 90's. 😀👍

    Correction 4:22
    Dexter Lab was brought back in 2001
    It’s kind of like Rugrats where it was gone for a year and then come back also ego trip came out this year

      @Quawnaime True, but I consider 3 years enough of a gap to consider a series to be gone for that time. I'll definitely include Ego Trip on animated films when I cover those though!

    Which remind me Monster Ranch have been released onto SDBD [Blu-ray] a few year in the USA. It's great that SDBD [Blu-ray] have realeased past cartoon/anime series like Adventure of Sonic the Hedgehog, Street Sharks, Beyblade, Shaman King, Dinosaur King, Sonic X and Ulitmate Muscle. I'm hoping they'll continued to released past Cartoon/anime Series that weren't given a chanced like my favourites Cardcaptors (Nelvana), Spider Riders, Yo Kai Watch, Mucha Lucha, Creepy Crawliers, Biker Mice From Mars, Blazing Dragon, Mary Kate and Ashley in Action and maybe Gormiti: The Neorganic Evolution (season 3),

    I remember Sabirna the Teenage Witch.
    The Animation series was a nice companion to the Live Action series, both told roughly the same story but with key differences but I felt that the Animated series was clearly aimed for pre-teens.

    One of the first Spongebob Squarepants episodes I saw was Chocolate with Nuts.
    It was one of the best episodes and felt this series was one of the better American Animation when I watched it in the early 2000s when it first aired in Australia at 8am replacing Dragon Ball Z's timeslot between seasons.

    Sadly I never got to see Monster Rancher as I don't think that ever aired in Australia outside of Pay TV stations that might have had it. I saw clips of the series on early UA-cam years later, felt like I would have loved that series especially Pixie.

      @TBoneTony It's a pretty well-done series and currently available to stream on Prime in the US (can't speak for whether that's the case in Australia, but maybe with a VPN).

    Let think it out...
    Early TV, 1940's to 1950's: Should be a short series, because of all the package movie cartoon syndication shows, and few original shows.
    The 60's: Probably each episode for two or three years. The earliest of the Saturday Morning line ups.
    The 70's: Ok. A year an episode.

    • @dr.animaction
      @dr.animaction  6 місяців тому

    I honestly was going to assume that Blaster's Universe was going to be an adaptation of the NES game Blaster Master (not to be confused with Master Blaster, who runs Bartertown). Ed, Edd, & Eddy is a show iI initially passed on due to its SquiggleVision art style and weirdly designed character, but I came back and came to love it. I actually missed the premiere of SpongeBob, so the first episode I actually saw was Bubblestand, which I think makes a better first episodes than Help Wanted.

    I clearly remember Digimon as that aired at 7am in Australia closely followed by Pokemon at 7:30am and Dragon Ball Z at 8am in the mornings. (Yugioh replacing Pokemon's 7:30am timeslot between seasons)
    Often other shows will replace those big 3 often with other Anime including Cardcaptor Sakura and Tokyo Mew Mew (4Kids Entertainment versions) as well as some nice surprises like Zoids and Crash Gear Turbo being notable shows.

      @TBoneTony 6 місяців тому +1

      @@dr.animaction While Australia does share the same timezone as Japan, it doesn't mean too much of a difference.
      We in Australia still get screwed over in regards to older gen people not understanding the animation medium much like the Americans and UKs do.
      Even worse when it comes to Video Games. I think we just had a good channel in the mornings at the time with a focus on Cartoons during the 90s and some people involved clearly had a strong passion for anime.
      From my understanding, you had to have a Pay TV/Cable TV channel dedicated to Anime like the SciFi channel from Cartoon Network or Kids WB if you were from the USA or UK.
      So I think I was lucky with free to air TV like that, but it wasn't easy and like I mentioned with Monster Rancher, we never got everything and there were always shows that I missed out on until I saw it on early UA-cam years later.
