That's obviously shorthand for the recording for them. I've seen drum rolls in old sheet music notated as trills before too. The double tongue is obviously wrong here but let's not pretend this is supposed to be 100% accurate notation. There were a bunch of 8th-16th triplet figures that were just notated as 16ths but you can figure out what it's supposed to be if you're familiar with the recording. It's missing slurs, dynamics, articulations, etc. too. Most folks transcribing this stuff don't make it exact.
