    For anyone watching this...NEVER lube the back side of the bearing halves when installing them in the engine. You ONLY want to put assembly lube on the inner face of the bearings AFTER they are installed. Putting assembly lube on the back side of the bearings will vastly increase the chances of spinning a bearing.

      Hey Dustin! Thanks for the comment and for sharing. We have since then stopped doing this for this exact reason. We luckily haven't had any issues from doing this BUT we completely agree!

    Love it. M62 e30s are incredible swaps. Im currently working on spicing up mine. Only ~60lbs heavier than the m20 iirc and heaps of power. Looking forward to watching this build!

      It sure is! We are currently working on a new video now that the dust has sorta cleared. The E30 will be finished sooner than later though! Thanks for the comment 🙏

    What was the red plastic straw thing? I will be re-installing the head on my e28 soon and that would be handy. I thought of cutting of the head of an old head bolt but the red plastic thing looks easier. I will definitely be recruiting a helper since the block is still in the car. I barely got the head out on my own (intake was attached, bolt access underneath is non-existent).

      Hey Roy! Thanks for the comment. The red plastic is a "Bic" or "paper mate" style pen. It's a real life saver because it helps guide the head right onto the block. It's even easier if you use two! 👍 And yes having a helper is a MUST when dealing with an install that is still in the car

    New rings in original bores? No sunnen an-30 hone on this?

    • @superbimmerbros
      @superbimmerbros  Рік тому

      Hey Jesse! Thanks for the comment. We were definitely iffy on trying to get it honed because of the cylinder lining being coated. We asked our usual machinist and refused to do it haha we measured and it was still in spec and still looked useable so we just went for it on this one. However if this were a client build we would probably opt for a home or resleeve

      @@superbimmerbros Are the piston rings the original ones re used, or a new set of rings? Interested to see how this turns out!

    any updates on this build?

      @superbimmerbros  Рік тому

      Thanks for commenting! It is STILL IN THE WORKS! Getting the shop going this year has taken up most of our time for our own builds but trust us when we say it's coming and it's going to be worth the wait.
      As Always we will try and document as much detail as possible for those following along.
      Thanks for being so patient 🤙

    What did u spray that looked like Cooper? I would advise that maybe u might get new oil squirts? Too much money and work to have something that important go wrong!!! The Bulid looks sweet as hell!!!!

    • @superbimmerbros
      @superbimmerbros  2 роки тому +1

      Eddie! Hey man thanks for the comment. The copper spray is there for filling any slight imperfections in the gasket and the head i.e pitting and whatnot. This is a peace of mind step that we take in every head install to avoid any air bubbles that might form and potentially cause a breach. 👍 Hadn't we been able to fix the squirter we definitely would have gotten new ones 😁

      Tico! Thanks for the comment! It's still in the works as we just moved into a new shop and have yet to transfer all the parts and car from storage but it's for sure still happening! Sorry for the delay man 😞

    Hi putting M62b44 V8 out of X5 in my E30 what sump are you using and what car is it off please? Struggling for info….Thanks

    • @superbimmerbros
      @superbimmerbros  Рік тому

      Hey there thanks for the comment! So we are following the garagistic guide for V8 swapping the E30. The original sump should work, the swap calls for a subframe spacer or notching the sump and depending on what motor mount brackets you use.
      Here's the guide we are following:
      www.garagistic.com/pages/how-to-swap-an-m6x-into-an-e30
