Not to be a mean or typical bad comment on YT but i would have personally takeniff the bkack side door trim and painted them flat matte black to look OEM and then installed them back. If you ever have ti take them off it will now leave a oaint mark. Just a suggestion. Otjer than that i know youll get better with time 👍🏽🤙🏽

You are correct about the plugs in the rocker shafts. They are there to maintain oil pressure to the rocker assemblies. Years ago, in the 1960/70's, the plugs were aluminum, hammered in, and loctited in place. We also had a factory tool at the dealer for the six and the four cylinder. It would depress all of the valves at one time and thereby rotate the rockers away from the cam and allow removal of the cam while leaving the rockers installed. One had to be careful not to allow the valves to contact one another and bend.

make a small slide hammer with the correct thread in end and pull them out all 4 outwards instead of sliding one half over the entire length of head

Hallo is it possible to replace the valve seals without taking of the cilinderhead by taking out the grill and radiator. And take out the rockers at the frontside when the timing belt and the camshaft sprocket is off Mine e21 323i needs new valve seals And of course put compressed air in the cilinder through the spark plug hole. Thanks

Im getting my e30 soon with a disassembled m20 im gonna put a used m20 full while i rebuild mine as a strocker

Also absolutely no need to remove it dis a valve unless ur going to service it same with ICV

Those cylinders are out of spec. Maximum should be 84.04. This motor will experience blow-by and reduced power. Should have rebored to 84.5 and ran 20 thou pistons + rings.

Oiling the back side of bearings is a no no and spraying copper gasket spray on to the block, pistons and bores is never a good idea. You could have easily sprayed the back side of the head gasket.

Hey mate, great video. Just bought a 1989 318i myself, and am looking at doing a 5 lug conversion with the e30 m3 front suspension. I'm really new to the e30 scene and I'm just wanting to see what parts I would need to be able to do it myself. I understand that the m3 parts are much more expensive, but I am trying to make the perfect e30 build. For anyone watching this...NEVER lube the back side of the bearing halves when installing them in the engine. You ONLY want to put assembly lube on the inner face of the bearings AFTER they are installed. Putting assembly lube on the back side of the bearings will vastly increase the chances of spinning a bearing.

Hi my brother i m a m30 owner 635csi from south Africa i swaped my engine with an m30 from e34 my problem is oil filter housing its not pumping oil i can see the difference on the gasket of the housing in short it doesn't pump oil

Hopefully gonna swap my 3.5 cam into my 3.2 engine..is it possible??they look the same but I expect more lift on the 3.5..also the 3.5 cam rod doesn't have the Allen ends,the 3.2 shafts did..guessing they knock out like the 3.2..yes I'll check piston valve clearance n pray that's OK just be a hotter cam install..
