Love watching stuff like this while I draw, checking off all the boxes and getting reminded of things I might've forgotten, keep being great
Wow this is so professional. Love how transparent you were about your whole process: it’s realistic, it’s approachable, I love it!
In the beginning; smoothest transition I've ever seen. I love your art and your videos so much!
This is super cool - I'm a noob so it's a bit overwhelming, but still super cool! Thank you!
Great video, love the transparency on how you use tracing and photobashing in your process for time saving. I love using CSP too, I feel that it is the artsoftware that I have always wanted and love how they constantly listen to artists for new features!!!
This is all sorts of perfection. The mood. Music. Voice. Clear as crystal day instruction. Great video. Like, high ass quality and production value video.
THANKS FOR THIS! can we get a day in the life.
Such a unique process. I am very inspired by this video. Please keep doing what you do.
wow! I've seen your videos about a year before and i remember even then i was super impressed by your work and production, but today i stumbled across this video and let me just say, youve improved so much! you've clearly grown so much into your style and its a pleasure to see. keep on the fantastic work:)
man i’ve seen Josh progress so far in his art journey and it really just brings so much inspiration. Thanks man.
“The flatting process usually reveals issues with the drawing that I have to go back and fix.” Man, I felt that. Just finished a piece a few days ago that seemed fine when I was lining it, but I’d scaled the head of one of the characters up because it seemed small while drawing. But then after coloring it, his head was too big. I was too far into the process to easily scale it back down though, so I just left it as it was. RIP.
I also feel the love for painting in values. We’re very similar, and that’s one of the reasons I love watching your videos!
I just bought it on discount sale. Your art has gotten FAR and video quality is better this way. Filming yourself drawing and swiching from iPad 2 pc was nice/ relaxing 2 watch.
This is one of the many reasons I follow you . You are a good artist and you are open and honest about the process unlike other artist you find on instagram. CSP is more comfortable to me than PS or any other program . Keep it up !
As a Clip Studio user since 2018-19, I’ve loved all the uses of Clip Studio Paint from all of the custom brushes and materials from the assets store, the 3D models that you can change size, proportions and musculature, the cloud storage, the feel of it, and all the updates including the one from the 10th anniversary where you can use Clip Studio on a phone to control the program on PC, Mac or iPad. While the iPad version is a subscription, it still is one of my favourite and in my personal opinion, the best drawing and illustration program out there. But watching this video I discovered things I did not know!
JOSH! You nailed it! I have 2 loves in interior design - a traditional craftsman and a more contemporary, clean/mid century style. This video nailed the latter. It looks like such a great space - one that so promotes creativity. - love it!
I'm proud of finally feeling like I've developed a personal style, i don't do a clean up of the sketch, i use my initial sketch and just keep sculpting it until satisfied. For the longest time i felt like i had to be a painter when i never enjoyed the process as much as linework. I always kept a clean sketch layer saved just because i didn't like to let go, now i just use it and let it show through all the time.
It's so cool how you can draw very interesting art just like that!
Thank you for showing your technique. You are a great teacher. 🙏🙏
Great video josh 👍🏻
Thank you for this video!!! It inspired me to pick back up my tablet and get to abstracting
Honestly I envy how the flexibility you have with an iPad and Cintiq, I know the skills matter more than the tools but it feels claustrophobic to draw using a regular pen tablet personally and I usually end up not feeling in a comfortable position to draw, hopefully I can afford such things someday cuz it seems so nice from your point of view
Haha dont worry about it. Most professionals working today have actually used the same 1 piece of hardware for 3-6 years straight. Theres just something with my brain that gets tired of using the same thing too long…
@@ergojosh I know right? Glad to know you feel the same way man, keep up the great work tho!
I never got used to it and needed a screen! It changed my workflow so much. You don’t need the newest iPad to work either. I know it’ll take time to save, but consider getting used or an older model.
I purchased an older iPad Air when it went on sale and I have an xp pen drawing monitor. they have huge holiday sales and different screen sizes for way more affordable prices than a cintiq! I have the artist 16 pro.
It is nice to have a screen display drawing, but you can start with a drawing tablet. Yes, you might have a steep learning curve and don't have the convenience of portability but you will have good value for money and you will avoid back problems later on.
I also use CSP to get the bulk of my work done. I typically do studies and rough sketches or rough line work in procreate. I used to sketch in CSP, but I find procreate is just more versatile. I’ve had issues with CSP crashing if I leave the app open on my iPad.
My final line work, lighting and color is always in CSP because they have such amazing tools that are always being updated. I love the vector layer and lasso fill tool the most for rough shadows! I have many custom brushes and pens too I either bought or edited myself for my process. I love the store they have too, it’s how I found my go to pen tool and blending brush. I’ve also added some color palettes and patterns onto the store for anyone to use.
I’m new at drawing and I started off using procreate but I recently got CSP because I eventually want to do animation. I really like CSP because of the 3D models they really help but I also like procreate to because it’s really easy to learn. So that’s a good idea of sketching in procreate and finalize everything in CSP. Thanks for the advice! But my only thing is how would I transfer the files from procreate to CSP?
@@ShinAkarri so you can’t really transfer the files unless you use photoshop, but I just export as a PNG and then create a new file in CSP and put the image in there as a separate reference layer.
@@mrs.quills7061 thank you for the information I’m going to give it a try and see how it works for me!!
Josh is so good everything in the video is such an inspiration
The cinematography, audio, artwork even the tips and tricks
Great video Josh, ridiculous cinematography👏
I love the thumbnailing process thought. There is something about multiple heads in an illustration that I can not explain still.
I wanna know the inspiration of that piece too :)
@@With-fazeright right right. Extremely good 👏🏾
THIS VIDEO BLEW MY MIND!!!. I ALREADY HAVE CSP BUT I WANNA BUY IT AGAIN COZ OF YOU. SO COOL
I love this piece it’s such a good concept!
Super video i love your work josh Thanks for your sharing with us !!!!! ;)
You’re such and inspiration
I literally just got clip studio and it's amazing
lest goooo!
this video looks amazinggg
that timelapse feature is cool ;o
This is great! Thank you for sharing!
excellent info, appreciate it man. I have clip on my computer but didn't realize it works so well on ipad too!
I picked up a good tip from watching this video: grayscale icc profile. There's an artist's saying that : "Value does all the work and Color gets the credit" and it's completely true.
You should train your eye so you can see color value directly by squinting your eyes. However, you can use software features like converting to grayscale and using a posterize filter to reduce the number of values to help train your eye.
Would be awesome if the time-lapse recorder has an option to record the tools used for wrapping, scaling, selecting, etc. But we still have screen recording, so... not something to really think about.
What a coincidence! 🥺 You uploaded a video about drawing in Clip Studio Paint, and fellow artist Sara Tepes uploaded a new video about the same program today! It's so amazing to see members of the art community thriving. I love both of your works!
I could vouch for Clip Studio, cool video man
Could you ever release your clips studio paint workspace!?? I love how clean and minimalistic it is and some of the tools you have open just don’t know where to find those specifics
Amazing work and yes vids help.
thats awesome
Hey Josh, could you do a series about perspective and how to learn it(similar to how you did it on anatomy) in the future?👀
Dios mio, a quien le tengo que vender mi alma para llegar a hacer trabajos asi? HERMOSISIMO!!!
Can you make a video with organizing different kind of layers ? I see you put colors, folders and all kind of things here - how do you actually think about layers ?
Thanks for the greyscale ICC profile tip
I literally Can say the software is the best Specified drawing software Fr...its just so smooth😊...PS: Josh I did a painting for u on my channel u can check it out...I also tagged you..
Awesome man, crazy workflow and solution to fill this gap. But one though I've done an idea. Can you do some tips for people who don't have to much money or newest equipment, and have a big desire to produce ?
I haven't drawn on paper for about a year, when I first did it about 3 days ago I found myself trying to zoom the paper.
I'm taking a break from digital and am gonna draw all traditional for the next year, it may seem like a huge disadvantage but let's just try to enjoy the original and pure form of art. I encourage everyone that reads this to do so.
Peace ✌️
Great video; it gave me more interest in exploring clip studio paint. But I was wondering what brand of iPad pro cover case you used in that video because I liked it, and I was thinking about looking into getting one myself.
nice video
Monthly subscription for iPad vs 1time purchase of Procreate
Love this. I got rid of my no-screen Wacom a while ago so I can't exactly take my iPad stuff to PC, but I used to use Manga Studio on my old Wacom Cintiq Companion. I still have it, just never use it. I really want to try CSP but the fact that it's subscription based on the iPad really does not fly with me at all. I understand there are some benefits, but I am already up to my elbows in subscription fees with just general daily life and I don't want to make doing art a monthly subscription fee. I also found that it ran like doodoo on my 12.9 iPad Pro from 2018, but that was ages ago. Maybe something changed. Maybe in the future the sub fee will change but I doubt it.
sarah is so pretty
love your channel
I love CSP's brush engine much more than Procreate's but my main gripes with it is that it's subscription only on iPad/mobile, it gets laggy when rotating/moving things and it has a PC UI even on iPad. On a brand new M1 iPad, I shouldn't see any lag especially when doing something as simple as rotating. The UI wouldn't bother me so much but since I'm not on a PC I can't hover over icons to see what they do.
This inspires me to actually try digital art when my birthday comes up! I just love your art! I love sketching characters because I have many ideas flowing through my brain!
I'm curious do you do traditional art? 😊
Do you have sketchbooks to plan out your upcoming artwork? 🤔
I'm hoping to see more videos from you, be safe and keep up with your health! Thanks for the great video!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love your videos! where do you get that iPad case? Thank you!
I love Clip Studio Paint and its my main software for when I draw on PC but it makes me so sad the IPad app is subscription based. 😟
Curious as to what type of tablet you are using
How do you keep the side tool tabs open when drawing? For me they always close whenever I start drawing and I can't figure out how to keep them open
I invested in this program but just can’t get used to it :( it’s so fun and quirky but feels like it has too many options…
Josh, if you like the ipad for the first stage of the drawing because it's like drawing on paper, why not draw on paper and scan it?
Its more convenient and faster
Paper punishes me for making mistakes with my aphantasia 😭 I think if I drew for a few more years on paper I might have preferred it to digital.
@@ergojosh haha I suppose that makes sense! The challenge of not being able to erase is fun though. Glad you're posting again!
guys how do i change the layer color to do comics for inking ipd on csp
Hi, is that ipad 12.9inch or 11inch version? thanks !
I noticed you used a different drawing pad with a mini keyboard. What brand is it?
tbf Josh, the software doenst look that snappy in your video. I can be wrong.. but some stuff looks a bit laggy. Ps.. did you ditch your big Wacom screen for a smaller one as your daily driver? And i see you went over to the Apple Studio. I am looking for the Mac mini but would like to see a M1/M2 pro in there haha. I would love to learn from your take on this. I am on the edge of changing my desk setup. My PC is over 5y old and i want to create a Apple eco system here. I love my 27" cintiq.. but darn.. it is so huge. Sometimes i just dislike all the big stuff in my face.
On the Samsung tablet, you may have noticed its pretty laggy. Especially with the touch and how quickly it opens/closes Everywhere else its pretty quick. As I mentioned on my tablet review video, I use a few different tablets and switch between them - no one daily driver.
Interesting
What ipad are you using? 12.9 or 11?
How do you feel about clip studio back photoshop? I’ve never used clip studio but I feel like photoshop isn’t very user friendly so I’d love your opinion
@ 3:16 i see a second keypad that your using, and you said its a razor keypad. but i cant seem to see that one, do you have the name for it?
i have a Tartarus v2 , but that smaller one seems great for "on the go" use
When is perpetual mobile license coming back tho? :(
My fwiend
What brush
How did you get your Tartarus to work with the M1 Mac? I just got a Mac Studio and it wanted nothing to do with my Tartarus.
First !!!
1:46 Samsung, please... we need a better chip.
how do you have such an insane set up but use a knock off north face bag?
I need brushes for FREE :(
...
Is a Jojo poses.
Software as a service? No thank you
Drip.
Damn i wish i had cute girls friends to use for reference too...
Dude, you are tracing; that's not drawing XD
your tracing LOL.
Thanks for sharing such beautiful tutorial...love from small artist 🇮🇳💜
The reason why im thinking about buying an ipad is for clip studio paint and my commission because i can take it wherever i go and i have a tight schedule.
