Back then the lyrics were not always printed on the records. We all grew up singing the wrong words. John was asked the funniest words he heard from the crowd, he said on one song the lyrics are 'Bad Moon on the rise' and a girl sang to him 'There's a bathroom on the right' still funny after 40 yrs.

A song about the CCR breaking up while still recording, everyone thought is was "sunny" (happy) but it was "rainy" (sad). And his self titled album from '75 was actually really rocky, one of his best.
Probably the best artist I've seen live, he's a perfectionist. 🙌

Beth, there is no one I've ever heard like John F. who can sound so unique, and force you to listen to the absolute beauty hidden in the vulgarity of his voice, and I appreciate that you have such an ear that it brings that smile to your wonderful soul, as it brings to my face. (I can only wish that I had your musical soul.)

For a Singer Is not enough still to keep a Great voice. It's very important too, to have many very good and wonderful songs like Fogerty have to sing. And when Fogerty sings , he brings at the same Time, sweet memories or at least very good sensations. All wonderful !

I always just assumed he cleaned up his tone as he was getting older to keep his voice healthy and that was why his voice changed as it did. He went pretty hard on his singing when he was younger lol. He still sings with a lot of power and range, about as much as he ever did. Pretty nice to hear. Especially when he still throws a growl in there every now and then to remind you "Yeah, I'm still John Fogerty" haha

this song gives me memories, not over this , but I went to Phoenix / Scottsdale with my grandfather when I was little, it was a billion degrees in the hotel room walking in. We opened the window for breeze, and a busker across the street was playing this. Later that night, Arizona got rain that flooded the whole downtown, and that just always struck me as ironic and poignant.

He grew up in El Cerrito, CA, suburbs east of San Francisco. My roommate lived next door, and the Band practiced in the garage. Their first semi-hit was about the nearby town of Lodi (Stuck in Lodi Again), out when I we studied for our Masters at Sacramento State in 1969-70. "Revival" was the NAME OF their first big album. The Band name was Creedence Clearwater! So many hits in so short a time. Aren't recognized nearly enough how they impacted the music world forever. Thank You.

John has an odd accent for being from California. Most classify them as Country Rock, but they are in the same catagory as Buffalo Springfield and The Byrds. Although many rock bands of the era had an early country as well as blues root. I think CCR might be closer to the Bakersfield sound than straight up country. When John's Centerfield album came out, it brought 2 generations of rock fans together.

He said he put on that more gritty, deeper baritone thing in CCR. That's not how he would've naturally sang, but they were doing a lot of blues and I think he felt like his voice was too wimpy for that. He didn't wanna sound like a 20something California boy, he wanted to sound like he really lived what he was singing. As he got older his natural voice sounded more "lived in" so he started singing more naturally

Nice to see another reaction to YES my favorite group. I subscribe to anyone who reacts to them so this great music can be passed on to others. I personally like "The Gates of Delirium" a tiny bit more than "Close to the Edge" but not by much. Check out "Awaken", especially the live version with Rick Wakeman. And "That, That Is", "Starship Trooper" lots of great music. Some of their lyrics tell a story. Some like this are like a Picasso painting. Up to you to interpret. "Turn of the Century" is a good one about a sculptor who's wife dies. Gates of Delirium is about war. Let's hear more. I'll stay subscribed if you play more.
