If you have ever seen a movie with Vietnam war in it. You have heard a CCR song.
Rocky Dominos or Adam Sandlers movie
Forrest Gump
I was about to say the exact same thing.
Tropic Thunder
And that said CCR song is most likely Fortunate Son.
John fogerty with one of the best voices in rock history
Easily. He's so soft spoken when he talks. It kind of makes you wonder where that voice comes from
Unmistakable voice!
Amen to that!
Why does your comment say 4 days ago when this video was published today?
@@blakepoo I have no idea! I hadn't even noticed. That is so strange.
Fortunate Son is one of the greatest CCR songs, please review that one! Great political song re Vietnam
I have to agree with this.
YES!
Fortunate Son is a great song. Personally, I've always been partial to Long as I can see the light.
For me it's proud mary
I guarantee they'll recognize that one.
CCR, the group who still hold the record for the most #2 songs without ever hitting#1. They hit #2 five times
"Lookin' Out My Back Door" and "Bad Moon Rising" are a couple more y'all wanna check out.
Green River
Fortunate Son
@@yourearidiculouslunatic8435 run through the jungle... Getting flashbacks just thinking about CCR. And i wasnt even born during vietnam lol
I really like Hideaway from the Pendulum album.
Proud Mary
Run Through The Jungle! Bad Moon Rising! Lookin Out My Back Door! Someday Never Comes! Up Around The Bend! Proud Mary! Lodi! CCR had nothing but hits, baby!!
Absolutely yes on Run Through the Jungle!
Born On The Bayou
Amazingly enough, they never had a #1 hit (but they have the most #2 hits without ever reaching #1)
Walking On The Water, Sinister Purpose, I Put A Spell On You, Green Rive. CCR definitely had some great songs.
Travelin' Band was also great.
We just need a video of them reacting to the entire Greatest Hits Album.
Fortunate Son is all time great. Travelin' Band, Suzie Q, Someday Never Comes
Travelin' Band is my favorite!!
out my back door
bad moon rising
Can’t forget Midnight Special :D
BORN ON THE BAYOU!
You basically HAVE to do Bad Moon Rising and/or Fortunate Son aswell now...
anything BUT Fortunate Son
For real. This track they're doing is overrated
I think they’d like the lyrics to Fortunate Son and what it meant at the time
Do:
Run Through the Jungle!!
Green River....
In my opinion, the most underrated band of all time. I don’t think there is a single Viet Nam war movie ever made that does not have one of their songs in it.
why is that?
@@abdihassan7208 well, maybe because the music was really popular at the same time the war was going on😉
@@abdihassan7208 most of their songs were antiwar
@@abdihassan7208 time period, it was VERY popular band among the soldiers that went to Vietnam. Many classics ... _Run Through the Jungle_ is very typical of the connection
@@Cerebraldoom not really
This song has been covered so many times by so many different artists. Not one of them comes close to Fogerty. I will die on this hill. His voice is quite literally perfect for this song.
CCR-
Born on the Bayou
Fortunate Son
Down on the Corner
Bad Moon Rising and Pround Mary
Green River
I put a spell on you
really? no Who'll stop the rain?
Lodi. Because I've been to Lodi and can't imagine being stuck there.
Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing
And "So far away from me"
I prefer Brothers in arms
Skateaway and Sultans. Love Dire Straits.
@@lilymcallister9751 Toro toro taxi....see you tomorrow my son..
Dire Straits- Sultans of Swing, Brothers in Arms, Money for Nothing, So far away from me, and there is so many more.
The Animals - "The House of the Rising Sun" or Ram Jam - "Black Betty"
Would rather “Many Rivers to Cross” for an Animals reaction. Surely they’ve heard “House”, and they’ve probably heard “rivers” by the jimmy Cliff version.
But black Betty would great
Pretty sure they did House of the Rising Sun, may be wrong though.
frigid pink version
Their version of The House of the Rising Sun is so stellar. John Fogerty's voice...
Black Betty is so catchy!!!!
CCR , The Eagles, LED Zepplin, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Seger, , Allman Brothers - grew up in the 70’s - so glad I found you guys!
Oh yes ma'am! I'm a Ledhead myself and the 70s is where it all peaked. IDK , but these reactors should check out Slow Ride by Foghat.
Yessssss Great Music
My dad would always play this song whenever we went on long road trips growing up. I now use this as one of the first songs to teach my guitar students.
Their cover of "I Put a Spell On You" is by far my favorite song from them. "Up Around the Bend" is also a timeless classic, a great rock n roll tune.
YES YES YES.
Rick Deckard I remember them playing “Up Around The Bend” on Scooby Doo😂💯
@@jaust1n really? In the cartoon series? got to find that!
YES! I Put a Spell On You is savage !
My grandpa’s favorite band. He passed two years ago. Cancer is one hell of a monster. Real happy you guys did this song. This song is the one I play to toast the old man. Great reaction. Loved this.
My dad passed 2 months ago I feel your pain this was his favorite band too.
My favorite CCR song is Green River. Amazing band! 🤘🏻
Mine too!!!
I'm digging the profile pic
Great song
Green River! Yes. Love that one.
You never heard Proud Mary or Fortunate Son? My granddaughter loves CCR! She's 4 years.
That's how old I was when I first heard my parents' Green River album.
Well,you have a great,granddaughter.
This is one of my all time favorite songs. I am 81 years old and have been a music fan all my life, so that includes a lot of songs.
CCR.....born on the bayou (swamp rock)
Hell yes! This one and Run Through The Jungle are so good!
@@scottjohnson7803 yes...both swamp rock
Dope song my fave CCR song
Lawrence Eason technically southern rock
I love that song as well as Green River and Midnight special which is a really underrated song.
Marshall Tucker Band is another southern rock band you need to hear.
-Cant you see
-Ramblin
-Fire on the Mountain
-Searchin for a Rainbow
-Heard it in a Love Song
D Culver Kid Rock with Zac Brown is incredible!!!
Fire on the mountain with the Grateful Dead.
Yes I love Marshall Tucker band great group
This song has a deep meaning to me. My dad was just a southern rock hard working amazing man that had the best taste in music. He loved this song and right before he passed away , I heard it and to me it told me that he was moving on from the pain of this world but a sunny day was right ahead. I felt comfort and I needed that. Also when I had my car decal for my dad made, it started raining at the store...the clerk started singing this and I knew that my dad was there. Just my story about the songthat I wanted to share. Rock on Dad.
Who feels good remembering waking up to these songs on the radio in the 70s....wow were we lucky
Southern rock, southern blues. It is so cool to see the next generations victim's on the greatest era of music , the 60s & 70s. So many great voices, such talented musicians.
I love CCR. My dad used to play this in his eight track. It would be blaring from his bedroom. This music brings back great memories. I Put A Spell On You, Looking Out My Backdoor, as long as I can see the light, and someday Never Comes.
My dad got me a CCR greatest hits CD for my birthday when I was quite little (like 8 or 9).
Well, I say "me." He mostly got it for himself. He was big on getting "me" presents that he could "borrow" (read: steal).
I’m glad to see black dudes appreciate all the classics not just rock and roll but also the older hip hop as well. I feel like a lot of your audience feels similar but hopefully it’s also a younger generation discovering these pioneers too.
There really is no CCR song that isn't a great song.
Well, most of the last album sucked, lol. But yeah, lots of amazing stuff
Agreed
False statement.
Amen to that
so true!
I can't remember who said it but they said "CCR wasn't around for a long time, but when they were they ruled the world".
honestly CCR's version of "Heard it through the grape vine" is one of my favorite songs of all time.
I'm just about to lose my mind....
I guarantee there are many other CCR songs you’d know-
Fortunate Son
Proud Mary
Run through the Jungle
Midnight Special
Susie Q
Down on the Corner
Bad Moon Rising
Heard it through the Grapevine
Someday Never Comes
Long as I Can See the Light
There’s just so many! And they’re all classics! I hope you either get to doing more reviews, or just go listen to a bunch of CCR, cos you’ll be adding a lot of songs to your playlist, that’s for damn sure!
Proud Mary for sure since Tina Turner did it as well.
Hey Tonight!!
You forgot Green River
Green river
Proud Mary by Tina Turner is written by CCR.
No, just John Fogerty
@@matthewdrake4385 CCR my published it years before her.
But who wrote 90% of CCRs songs? John Fogerty. CCR gets the credit of performing it first before Tina.
Go thru and see just how many CCR songs Fogerty wrote compared to the other members. He was like the Lennon/McCartney for the band.
Unpopular Opinion: Ike and Tina Turner's live take on this is better than the CCR version.
I've always loved CCR. Good pick. John Fogerty's voice is the best.
Creedence Clearwater "I heard it through the Grapevine" Digging your channel.
I didn't know they did that song. Love the Marvin Gaye version
Not recognizing the name of the band--I feel *super* old all of a sudden. : ) Discovered you guys today and am binge watching all your videos. Great work by great guys.
I know the feeling you are having when I found these guys for the first time!🤣
It has nothing to do with age hahaha i think its bc they arent white, i know CCR and many many other “old” artists and classic rock artists/songs and im 22 years old!
I feel ya!! Hell, I'm only 44!! Lol
Fortunate Son, you definitely know this song
Their most iconic song, at least in my opinion is "Fortunate Son" which is synonymous with the Vietnam War and the protest culture of the 60s. You would definitely recognize that song if you heard it. You guys need to either check out Streetlight Manifesto because they are some of the most unique and talented musicians I've ever had the pleasure of seeing perform live and I think you'd be blown away by them. And you have yet to experience Rush's magnum opus. The song that most exemplifies their musical prowess and song writing abilities; La Villa Strangiato. It is their most ambitious song and blows everything they've done up to that point out of the water and you will lose your minds listening to it. Keep up the great work as always and I can't wait to see what else you guys come up with.
You guys should hear their version of I Put A Spell On You!
.This was big during the Vietnam war. That's John Fogerty singing lead. I know this because I was around back then.... not ashamed to admit I'm 63 and still listening. My son-in-law thinks I look like a hippy. I just laugh at him.
You look like a fucken legend mate, the hippy stuff is coincidental.
A Whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harum 1967 please!!! My all time favourite song!
TA Lindsay: I was just about to suggest this one too😉😁
One of my faves from the ‘60s!
Conquistador.
One of the greatest songs of all time.who knew you could make Bach even cooler.
A newer live version though...
Fleetwood Mac - The Chain
Really interesting story behind the song, and the album it came from. The entire album is the bandmates taking shots at each other through beautiful harmonies. Once you have an idea of what was going on behind the scenes it's a fascinating listen
You could probably get an entire album from their tracks taking shots and/or recapping their interrelationships.
😃
But I sometimes get tired of hearing about their relationships
over my head is one of the best songs of all time
I grew up on CCR, thanx to my dad!! Love CCR!!
Same here!
My uncle....while working on cars, damn old man can tell you what's wrong with an engine just hearing it rumble
Go Stros!
I know you guys love that Southern Rock. Next you should check out "Green Grass and High Tides" by Outlaws
Frick yeah
Fortunate Son, Travellin Band, Up Around The Bend, Proud Mary... They're ALL fantastic!
I'm 39 yrs old and I grew up listening to CCR because my mom is a fan. She was living in Guatemala when CCR was in their prime. Music has no barriers.
CCR had a big hit with Proud Mary. And the lead singer had a hit in the 80s with Centerfield. That's played at most baseball games ("Put me in coach, I'm ready to play...today")
Jamie Laszlo, I have been listening to Centerfield over & over in my car for about a week. Now I want to go to a ball game! LOL. It's such a feel good song. 😀
"Long As I Can See The Light" is another amazing CCR song that's very soulful.
I absolutely love CCR! I Put a Spell on You and Fortunate Son are my favorites.
This is still one of my favorite songs, never tire of it!
Went to a John Forgerty concert on Maui and it was like a Credence Clearwater Revival concert incredible show, liked the stories he told on how he wrote those songs!Aloha from Hawaii🤙🏽
CREEDENCE - HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE (FULL VERSION)
Here here, superb song.
@@stevescourou8006 Gotta set some time aside for it, but 1000% worth it!
creedence has two very distinct and diametric sounds: first is their buoyant, gritty, straight forward southern-style rock (for which i'd recommend 'travelin' band' ) and second is a somber, twangy, quasi-country western nostalgia, that i personally think is best encapsulated by 'someday never comes'
White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane…. since we're on the 'nam vibe
Love this reaction. Y’all speakin facts.
One of my top 10 songs ever. My dad would play CCR and whistle along on the 8 track in our old Duster when I was a kid (late 70's and early 80's). Knew all their songs, didn't know their name until later. Love CCR.
Classic rock:
Bob Seger - Turn the Page ( Metallica did a cover as well but the OG is better)
Yes - Roundabout
Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing
MaddDogg316 Metallica was better in my opinion. They already did Roundabout and loved it.
1 word... ROUNDABOUT!!!
Yes to sultan of swing. Good suggestion
@@NandR Could you link that one? I can't find it
Ennello oh sorry that may have been on their Patreon and not released yet.
Gotta do Fortunate son by CCR fellas...You'll really get a feel for this band and his voice. Great reaction as always
I guarantee you youve both heard alot of Creedence, in passing and all that but just didnt know thats what you were hearing.
Thank you guys for just being YOU! Today you made me smile... thats always a good thing, especially these days. God bless you both.
Listening to this classic song with the two of you is like hearing/appreciating the tune in a brand new way. You two ROCK!
“Heard it through the grapevine”is a rock & roll classic
You guys gotta do Mississippi Queen by Mountain. Im sure you have heard it before but its still an amazing song.
Panye West I’m not a fan of the song. I have to ask why you like it? No disrespect, to each his own. I’m curious.
@@bsegovia23 I really like the song, Great vocals, Great guitar and everyone in the band is doing their job perfectly.
@@bsegovia23 The sheer power of the riff has to be the draw. Couple that with a hard, hard bass, the energetic drums and the smokey delivery of lyrics probably about prostitution, and you get one hell of a swamp rock classic. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the draw isn't complicated to figure out.
@Panye West &Morgan Robinson I really appreciate the feedback. Like you said Morgan, the song isn’t for everyone and it’s not my cup of tea, but your explanation clears a lot up for me. I can see how people would enjoy the riff and vocals. Thanks again for the response and keeping it a conversation and not yelling at me lol.
That vibrato on the opening notes, the cowbell, the space between the riff chords those monster licks in the opening played by guitar giant Leslie West! If you can’t feel that check yo pulse baby!!!!!
"Playin' In A Travelin' Band" is one of their real rockers. John Fogerty also wrote and sang the best baseball song since "Take Me Out to the Ballgame". It's called "Centerfield", and the video of it is phenomenal if your a baseball fan.
Without a doubt you 2 guys are my absolute favorite music reaction duo. You come with a wealth of knowledge of instruments, composition, genres, and your taste is pretty much flawless! I too am a huge CCR fan! So happy you got around to them.
I'm 70 years old so I hope that let's you know I mean nothing but good for the both of you! Your both very good @ what your doing, you seam to enjoy the music & each other 👍. I truly enjoy watching both of your reactions to the the country music of today, like Chris Stapleton singing Tennessee Whiskey the boy can sing can't he!!! I loved the look on both of your faces when you heard it for the first time, I LMBO he surprised you both & it showed👍😋 I wish you both all the luck with your podcast, keep up the good work & I'll keep watching 👏👏👏👏👏🇺🇸
Love me some CCR. Do the songs "Fortunate Son" or "Up Around The Bend" next
Good picks
CCR has a huge catalog of great songs too
Yassssss. Most rock-n-roll band in all of American music history.
This song always brings a tear to my eye it just feels do right it hurts.
Brings back the memories. Cruising with my dad in his 57 Chevy CCR on the 8 track rocking out to Suzy Q.
Bad Moon Rising, Proud Mary and Fortunate Son are probably CCR's most famous songs, but they have one of the best back catalogues of any bad ever.
This would be a good band for your xover vs original. Proud Mary originally CCR covered by Tina Turner.
heard it through the grapevine too
@@wodm I like Marvin Gaye but i still think the cover by CCR is better.
Make it so!
I thought it was the other way around? A TT song covered by CCR
@@csb2338 definitely not. Just confirmed via Wikipedia. It is a CCR song originally.
The
CCR is the BEST BAND period from that era. Most other bands I can't listen to now that I've grown up. EVERYTHING THEY DID I STILL LOVE TODAY. I'd like to see you play fortunate son
obvious why so many subscribers--u guys are awesome. young but mature----great takes and appreciation--and u help us old guys re-appreciate the tunes as well
Rare Earth...song is called I'm Losing You. (Or another song is I Just Want to Celebrate). Classic early rock that I forgot about and listened to today and was just blown away all these years later. A singing drummer amazes me.
Walk on the Water...song gives me chills. Their version of Heard it through the Grapevine is phenomenal as well
We definitely need to get some Eagles up in here. They are classic southern rock... well them and Lynyrd Skynyrd... and the Allman Brothers... And the Doobie Brothers...and ZZ Top...
Zman Jace Eagles are not southern rock. They are rock plain and simple. Skynynrd, Allman, Hatchet, Tucker, that’s Southern rock.
@@NandR I've always considered them southern rock. They aren't as definitively southern as the rest but they definitely have more of a twang to them than typical rock music. I'll concede that maybe my previous claim was a bit much, but I'm sure we will just have to agree to disagree about them being southern at all.
Eagles is very strict with copyright.
@@kennet7837 damn. All of the groups I would like to see seem to be that way. That's unfortunate.
@@NandR Ever heard "Seven bridges road"
You should listen to their "Fortunate Son". Scorching. And even tho' I usually hate covers, Wyclef Jean did an amazing one for Denzel's remake of "The Manchurian Candidate".
John Fogerty on guitar and vocals. Brilliant. Saw them in 1972. Awesome
I love watching your reactions to the great songs we have been listening to for 40 + years. You guys ROCK!
Creedence Clearwater is the shit. Run Through The Jungle is my personal favorite. They got whole bunch of good songs though.
I feel like its a sin that Run Through the Jungle isnt at least a 9 minutes long. What a ride.
@@TheeArtist23 True I hate how short it is.

Blackfoot - Train, Train
Marshall Tucker - Fire on the Mountain
The Outlaws - Green Grass and High Tides
Molly Hatchet - Flirtin' With Disaster
.38 Special - Hold On Loosely
& some Foghat
I can't believe this came out in 1971. I was born that year. Boy I'm old. 😂

Creedence Clearwater Revival, also referred to as Creedence and CCR, was an American rock band which recorded and performed from 1968 to 1972. The band initially consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty; his brother, rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty; bassist Stu Cook; and drummer Doug Clifford.
