My mom also made breads for us 5 kids. Every day coming home from school our favorite snack was her cinnamon raisin bread, piping hot with pure butter! Weekends were coffee cakes and dinners were yeast rolls. We worked, played and studied hard. If you don't sit on your butt watching tv all the time, you can eat this yummy stuff. Our mom was old school strict and i had t know how to sew, crochet, knit, embroidery and cook. Plus so many other things she considered the womanly arts. It was hard and I grumbled about it non-stop but now, I can do so many different things my friends can't. I really appreciate and adored my mom. I miss her a lot.
@sherununya4079 My mom, too, insisted I learn what were considered the basics in those days. If you don't mind, what year was your mom born, and in what country? I feel sorry for young people here in the USA nowadays, since nothing is being taught, and everyone has the attention span of a 3-year-old. My mom was born in 1934 in Liverpool, England, and I miss her so much.
My Grandmother was like that. She always ate "the funny one" and left the best of anything for us. I know unconditional love because I had her in my life from 5 to 11 years old. She came over from Scotland when she was a teenager all by herself and became the neighborhood's grandmother, know as Peggy. I was so blessed. She was born in 1900,124 years ago. I still miss her but she lives on through me. I make her Scotish Shortbread, which is 1000 times better than any other I have tasted. She kept receipes that read "a pinch of that" or "a dash of this" but were made with love.
My parents were born in early 1940's. They grew up on farms. My mom was an excellent cook and kept our home clean and well-organized. She wasn't good at sewing other than the basics, like fixing hems. My dad could do all the household chores as well. So, when she had to leave us with dad, it was business as usual. My siblings and I were born in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Our parents were pretty progressive, so both us girls and our brother learned basic repairs to home and car as well as cooking, laundry, and all other daily, mundane chores. My sister-in-law has no complaints, unlike so many other women who work full-time and still do the bulk of household chores and child-rearing. Even stay at home moms need a break. Dad shouldn't babysit for mom. He should be co-parenting.
As the daughter of a professional baker I can't resist making one correction to this BEAUTIFUL post. I can hear my father's and mother's voices in my head editing the heading because grandmother does not cook this bread. She bakes it. ;) Thank you for posting this lovely recipe and beautiful video. I've been savoiring the artistry and poetry of the whole thing. Perhaps I will even bake the bread. :)
OMG! It looks so good I am going to make it right now. Yes, some work, but sometimes it's worth it. Great video and easy instructions. Thanks for sharing.
@@Sue-gh4in you're so right. That's the kind of Grandma that I was to my four grandkids until I had to move out of state. Now I just have the biggest broken heart on the planet thank you Covid. 🙄
We are so spoiled by todays quick everything, aren’t we? This was always the way people cooked and baked since the beginning of time up until the last 60 or so years.
Looks great! Going to try this plant-based as I have a family history of Cancer so I need to avoid the estrogen and possible BLV in dairy & the lead and choline in eggs. Thank you so much for sharing
Looks good, but I don't get using cottage cheese instead of ricotta. My Italian mother and grandmother never used cottage cheese in a dessert or any Italian recipe
My grandmother used to make this type of cottage cheese, I would love to know how to make it, or where to buy it. My mom could never master it, thus, the recipe passed with my grandma.
I love raisens myself! What I would like, is less time spent on each step, and a change of music would be refreshing as well. I enjoy your recipes, thank you from Florida,USA
Year's ago, one Christmas I was at my Aunts home visiting. She handed me a piece of what I thought was a roll of some sort. I took a bite & oh my gosh it was so very delicious. I asked my Aunt what is this? She said, its Cottage Cheese bread?!? I don't remember the rasins, not that i have something against rasins, just not a big fan of them. My Aunt didn't make the bread though, she said a friend made it for her. It was so.tasty. I'm just wandering if this is what it was. But it was like more a bun. Im going to try this one day! It looks so good. But I'm wondering where do or how do they get the cottage cheese so dry?
I just love the bread recipe but instead of all that sugar I’d use a healthy alternative. I’m sure it delicious as looks it. I don’t think I’ll make it though as too unhealthy but I’ll certainly use the bread ingredients and make healthy cinnamon and Medjool dates roll. Yummy❤

It’s not bread !
You still Bake it, not Cook......
Stop with the exclamation mark. It translates poorly
What is it called
Is it stuffed yeast rolls or pastry
It's a bread based delicacy.... or pastry.
Дякую за рецепт❤.Ви надзвичайна жінка! Дай Бог вам здоров'я і щастя.

Nothing wrong with the raisins, it's incredibly tasty!!
Will definitely try it, cottage cheese/raisins mixture will be interesting to taste the flavours.
I find this very satisfying to watch for some reason. I wish I could try some as soon as they came out of the oven.
I wish I knew the name of 'them'
I didn't expect the delicious drink at the end ❤
Thank you for introducing me to Esther Abrami - No 1 A Minor Waltz ❤
That looks like an incredible amount of work for every 3 days
That’s what I was thinking🤔
Right??? Every three days threw me for a loop too.
I agree. But what a blessing Grandma sounds like. She must have a big heart and lots of love to give. Her family is lucky to have her❤

Your Nonna’s love language was YUM 😋
It looks good, especially the coffee. Cookrate-Dough Recipes, that's incredible.
What are they called
Mesmerized by all the steps and the "resting" the dough goes through! So ... what is it? What is it called? The Nutella with whip cream over-the-top!
Looks good, but I don't get using cottage cheese instead of ricotta. My Italian mother and grandmother never used cottage cheese in a dessert or any Italian recipe
Fresh cottage cheese is just fine in desserts. It's only thicker and more fattier than ricotta. Do be careful of the older ones which go sour, though.
Do you know what this is called?

How do you get courage cheese dried and crumble like that... Here in the US Ive only ever seen it very wet/milky
By draining it in a sieve
My grandmother used to make this type of cottage cheese, I would love to know how to make it, or where to buy it. My mom could never master it, thus, the recipe passed with my grandma.
Are you applying oil on top of the doughs after they raised and before flatting them with the roller?
Looks so yummy.....minus the raisins
What is the name of this pastry?😇

Just mute it.
Nice
Thank ❤
But what is it?
I want this recipe, how can I get it?❤😮😊
What kind of yeast is used. It didn't look like the baker allowed to to proof.
Proofing is really only needed if you're unsure the yeast is still active
What is leaven? Oven? What temperature?
It means to let rest with a towel over it again.
@@staindthepain2 okay, thanks, cause I couldn't find anything on Google about it.

I've never seen such dry cottage cheese. How/where do you get it?
No raisins. I would add dried cranberries or cherries.
Nope. Leave out the cranberries

This looks good except for the raisins. Lost me at the raisins. 😅 Will still try it though……but without raisins. Lol

When you say "starch" what ingredient is that?Cornstarch, potato starch, flour?

Never seen a recipe with beverage included. Maybe that will catch on, that beverage sure looked good though it had too much coffee 4me.
