Note to audience: WAIT until the performers have finished performing, and then you may applaud. Silence does not indicate the end of the performance. When in doubt, rely on others who know.
@@chilesuicmez Hmm I guess I feel you, too. Think of the whole time the instruments are in performance mode, including silence, as being part of the actual performance, part of the intended atmosphere.
@@stepaushi i REALLY know what you are talking about but as that piece called silence? that is like 10 minutos of silence, but they are actually counting bpm's, bars, and passing paper music sheets, and the whole piece is improv from the sound of people, coughs, etc, THATS the piece, if you want to experience as intended, you can digitally play it, in a live set, you have no control.
Each time I listen to this quartet I am freshly impressed--amazed--by the composer's brilliance in extracting different moods from his monogram, the four notes that make up his Germanized initials (D/Eflat/C/B). He warns us of impending tragedy, he sings out, he waltzes, he flirts, then he lowers the boom. He does not neglect his responsibility to soothe. And these four musicians cannot be bettered. This is the height of musical art.
Maybe it's just the audio quality, but each part is very easy to differentiate in this performance. No one instrument seems to dominate, the violins have intensity without overpowering the others, which I appreciate. Especially in this dark piece where the lower registers have some of the best parts.
In this work, as in the 10th symphony, the theme of Stalin is clearly present, especially in the second movement. Just like the 10th symphony, this is undoubtedly an autobiographical work.
Was it a pigeon as well as someone coughing. Nothing can take away from such a beautiful live performance. Shame so difficult for an amateur to tackle.

i feel you, but if some part of the piece makes me applaus at the mid point? what can you do about it?

@@chilesuicmez Yeah, I know. I think that "music" is silly. But I guess it had its point. [Edit: it's --> its (typo)]
as silly as EDM, or recording digitally/electronically your music, music industry VS music as art, mixed with modern ideologies :S is scary.
The second movement is absolutely gorgeous

D Eb C B is in German: D Es C H; "Es" is spoken like "S" -> D S C H -> D. Sch. (Dmitri Schostakowitsch)
Wow are you annoying. “Freshly impressed.” Good god.
Was für ein Glück muss es sein ,wenn man so souverän sein Instrument beherrscht, dass man hier in diesem grandiosen Stück mitspielen kann .
just four instruments... and they make THIS... unbelievable.
Plus whomever in the audience was making a hissing/hawking noise late in the work... over and over...
I: Largo 0:01
II: Allegro Molto 5:14
III: Allegretto 8:04
IV: Largo 12:50
V: Largo 18:42
The Viola sounds like it's crying in the second movement solo moment.
I wonder if that was intentional because my God that was beautiful.
I truly not was expecting you to be so right, but I am heartbroken by the beauty of the viola's cries
Wow, I've never noticed that. I hope it was written intencionally that way and it's not pure coincidence
The best I've heard so far. Well done!
Man I love the second movement
Jerusalem Quartet playing this beautiful piece in famous concert hall in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Friday 28th January 2022.
Avec plus d'intensité encore...peut-être l'expérience ou l'ambiance..et un silence parfait!
The whole cycle is wonderful, and this is one of the high points. A fabulous performance, and excellent sound. Marvellous music making!

Wow.... love the way you all have captured the intensity and madness of this piece, especially in the 2nd movement. Totally underrated...
Pffff....wow; I'm just blown away by this!
Strong, powerful performance of this quartet, and such a sense of loss at the end!
Sublime performance. Thank you.
Absolutely magnificent music and performing! Thank you ICP for posting it!
isn’t it! really a masterpiece
I love the 2nd movement interpretation. I personally am not a fan of making the 3rd movement to detached like that but overall it sounded great.
i think they both sound great, but i see what you mean. the way they played the 3rd movement sounded very detached, like you said.
Bravo! Amazing performance!!!
Immense musicians! Thanks so much!

Magnifico
Wonderful performance! Only this stupid coughing does my head in! Why can't people just stay at home if they're ill!?!?!
❤❤❤ hope some day they invite amihai grosz to play quintets with two violas... great artists btw 👏👏👏

Is this song about Dresden? Is there anyone who know?

A big thank you to all the whooping cough and influenza sufferers who attended that night!
They perform quite differently from Borodin string quartet.
This one cost them some horsehairs!
タクシーの運転手さんに方言を勘づかれ、"昔付き合ってた津軽の女"の話を永遠に聞かされて疲れた
Thats it! Almost perfect tempo! At least! but the third section is still not perfect (in tempo). Hard peace of music.

Shostakovich composed this masterpiece after Stalin's death, this is without the restrictions of Stalinism.
