The thick soup is Corn Flour mixed with all the sauteed garlic and dried squid and egg... and then we put in the mee (fried till its a little crispy) ... its Oriental Noodle.

Mee goreng mamak.. good stuff indeed. I prefer spicy one stir fried in high heat with a slight burnt taste. Must have the right mix of salty, sweet, spicy, sour etc.
Mee rebus and Mee bandung are also a specialty in southern peninsular msia. Like any other dish, you must get it from the right place for that perfect taste! Mee bandung needs to have that dried shrimp taste/paste and mee rebus needs to have much thicker brown gravy. By the way, mee bandung and sirap bandung has nothing to do with Bandung, Indonesia hehe

Mee rebus have two types.. southern type and east coast .
The east cost mee rebus is just like what you guys eat in the video. It is soup, sour, & sweet at the same time.
Southern version especially in johor the soup is a little bit thick and the color is red, looks like a curry noodle but it is not. The soup made of beef stock and serve with shreded meat on top. 😋

Kung fu noodles is actually Cantonese fried noodles. The soup is actually beaten egg with a bit of cornflour to thicken the gravy. The noodles can be either vermicelli or the flat kuey teow both are then quick fried in a very hot wok to give them a smoky feel.

The variaties of Mee Goreng (fried noodles) & Mee Kuah (noodle soup)
Mee Goreng Mamak (fried noodle with dark soysauce) - Indian Muslim influenced
Mee Rebus (a variety of Curry noodle) - Malay influenced
Mee Bandung - Malay style noodle thick soup
Mee Kung Fu - Chinese influenced (Hainan or Cantonese not really sure)
    Mee Ladna - Thai influenced
Mee Hailam - Chinese (Hainanese) noodle

Mee Kung Fu best cooked with Yee Mee, the thin crunchy noodle.. which you can easily find in Chinese restaurant. Some Malay restaurant have it but normally they use mee kuning (yellow) which is the usual thick noodles as mee goreng. In Chinese restaurant, it is also well known as Cantonese mee instead of kung fu.

If you fancy for the best cantonese mee (in my opinion) and you are going back to Negeri Sembilan, head over to Oakland at Seremban 2 and look for chinese muslim restaurant called Victory. Their cantonese mee is so good even the freshness of all the vegetable taste like sweetness in your mouth. It is a must stop place whenever I travel south.. aaaand also on my way back to KL.
