That YELLOW noodle is - egg noodle. Its from wheat.
The White thick noodle - I believe its a TAPIOCA + Rice noodle. There is also a plain RICE laksa noodle but it is less chewey and not silky.

there are too many different laksa in malaysia. let me give some info of uniqueness of laksa:
1)Laksa Asam - Laksa Utara - Laksa Penang
Laska Asam has a sour and spicy fish broth. Mackeral is mostly used as the broth base. Lemongrass, galangal, and chilli are added to create a defining flavour. It is served with thick rice noodles and fresh condiments such as sliced cucumbers, onions, mint, pineapples, strong and sweet prawn paste, and ginger flower.
There are different style of laksa asam in Penang, Kedah, Perlis, Perak and Pahang. The one you eat is Laksa Penang.
The Kedah Laksa is quite similar to Penang Laksa but supposed to be a little spicy. Sliced boiled eggs are usually added to the dish.
Laksa Perak or Laksa Kuala quite differ because they used wheat flour (usually hand made). The soup is rather lighter than the common laksa taste. Sometimes they also use eel fish or snake fish as ingredients.
Perlis Laksa broth used white water fish such as catfish and eel fish as based.
2)Curry Laksa - Curry Noodle - Singapore Laksa
It is either served in rice noodles, egg noodles or a mix of both in coconut-based curry broth. Tofu, chicken, shrimp, and bean sprouts are added on top of the dish. It is the same that what you eat in that vlog.
3)Nyonya Laksa - Laksa Lemak - Laksa Melaka
Nyonya laksa has a rich coconut-based broth, cooked with chicken bones and prawn shells. This dish from Melaka is known as laksa lemak (fatty laksa). You will have the sweet and spicy taste in every bite and slurp of this mouthwatering dish. It represents one of Peranakan’s recipes and traditions with influences of Malay and Chinese culture. It can be seen similar with Curry Noodle but still different.
    4)Laksa Johor
Johor Laksa uses spaghetti instead of rice noodles and egg noodles. The condiments are quite similar to the Penang asam laksa. It is served in thick sauce (cooked with coconut milk, fish, dried prawns, fresh herbs and spices) with spicy sambal chilli on the side. Squeeze a bit of lime, mix together, and dig in. It is almost a fusion of Italian pasta and Japanese udon.
    5)Laksa Sarawak
It has a soup-base of sambal belacan, which contributes to its crimson colouring, adding both coconut milk and sour tamarind, garlic, galangal, lemon grass, topped with omelette strips, chicken strips, peeled boiled prawns, freshly chopped coriander leaves, and optionally lime. Ingredients such as bean sprouts, (sliced) fried tofu or other seafood are not traditional but are sometimes added.
    6)Laksam
Popular dish from Kelantan. It is served with thicker bite-sized noodles like kueh teow noodles. The mild, tasty and creamy broth is made with mackerel, coconut milk, tamarind, lemongrass, small onions, and slices of dried asam. The broth is white in color. You will get the side of raw vegetables, herbs and sambal chilli just like other laksa.
Laksa Ganu or Laksa Kelantan is quite similar to laksam but used the normal white rice noodle. It can be served with raw vegetables like cabbages, bean sprouts, long beans etc.

Brilliant comment bro. Craving already now..
      Some unique addition :
Laksa Kedah- someplace got offer Laksa Ikan Seekor where they offer 1 fish (usually mackerel). I guess due to abundance of fish supply in that region.
Laksa Kuala in Perak - there are some called Laksa Sarang ;offer with deep fried omelette topping which looks like bird nest. Freshly fried per order, therefore u will get some nice effect when mix with the laksa gravy.

Cincau in English is Grass jelly, or leaf jelly or herb jelly, is a jelly-like dessert eaten in East Asia. It is created by using the Platostoma palustre plant and has a mild, slightly bitter taste. It is served chilled, with other toppings such as fruit, or in bubble tea or other drinks. Outside Asia, it is sold in Asian supermarkets. Yummy2.

Peranakan: According to what I can remember from going to a Peranakan museum in Malacca, a very long time ago, there were a intermarriage between rich Chinese people with local Malaysians. I remember they have pictures of old Peranakans. Lots of gold. Gold jewellery, clothes, etc. This type of marriage gave birth to a new distinct culture that's a mix of the two. The descendants are called 'Peranakan'.
I have a Chinese friend who's a Peranakan. When he posts pictures of what he/his family cook and eat at home, they look much more Malay than your ordinary Chinese food. But they eat pork too, so that's different than Malay.

Just a personal view, in my opinion, "laksa" is related to the fish broth where most laksa soups have. Sincerely I have no idea why Singapore's Curry Laksa consider itself as "laksa" while it's pretty much exaggerated curry noodles. Don't get me wrong, I knew curry laksa uses prawn broth/stocks. But for me "laksa" is always about the fish you used. Curry Laksa is like an adopted child trying to integrate itself to be in the family.

Laksa generally have fish-based broth. But Northern style (Kedah/Perlis) uses eel. Perak style uses wheat noodles and telur sarang (bird's nest omelette), Johor style uses spaghetti with thick sauce, East Coast style uses coconut milk in the broth, Sarawak style uses vermicelli with very strong belacan/shrimp paste.

Kuala Lumpur Chinese call curry laksa, Penang Chinese call it curry mee. Malay call it mee kari. Sarawak laksa is also curry with coconut milk too, but have a taste of it own.
For asam laksa, the name is universal in Malaysia, but in sometimes Penang they call it laksa on. There is another type of laksa in Penang is laksa siam or laksa lemak.
East cost of Peninsular Malaysia, there is lakse and laksam, both use fish broth.
Johor laksa use spaghetti and the fish broth with coconut milk.

D' jango curry is just a term, there is no standard recipe for curry how ever many type of curry share some same ingredients. you have Thailand green curry, and rendang is also been call dry curry and all sort of curry. Curry actually came from an Tamil Indian word which means sauce or soup to be eaten with rice.
Way of cooking and name evolve, as for me sarawak laksa is still a form of curry because it still taste like curry.

For the Asam Laksa, there is a black sauce (sweetened diluted prawn paste) on the side that you can add on to balance the sour taste. Mix it little by little according to your preference. Same goes with that curry noodle. Usually it will come with a lime and sambal (chili paste with prawn). This will enhance the flavour but it will make it more spicier. Mamak means Indian Muslim (a mamak restaurant may differ to say an indian banana leaf restaurant) Whereas Peranakan/BabaNyonya culture are often found in the straits settlement Penang-Melaka-Singapore which are the intermarriages of Chinese-Malay families that have developed their own unique cultural identities over centuries. Though i'd say Ah Cheng Laksa would probably only be barely scratching the surface for a genuine Laksa experience. I find the ones in Penang still wins hands down.

Normally when eating asam laksa, you mix that dark shrimp paste with the whole bowl of noodles. That changes the balance of the flavour quite a bit.

ABC is Air Batu Campur. Also Known as Ais Kacang. Ais kacang, literally meaning "bean ice" is a Malaysian dessert which is also common in Singapore and Brunei. Traditionally, an ice shaving machine is used to churn out the shaved ice used in the dessert, originally hand cranked but now more often motorised.

And then special day u want something distinctive and comforting, u get Laksa Sarawak. Hahha, i am all for laksa sarawak too.
You can visit shops in KL like Dayang Sarawak or Dapur Sarawak to get glimpse of Borneo meals.

But many would've probably recommended you Dayang Sarawak or Dapur Sarawak since they're both halal restaurants. Shouldn't be that far from Sunway area. But they're usually open until 2.30pm so gotta be there early.

Actually peanuts and all other 'random' stuff in ABC (translates to Mixed Shaved Ice) is a great counter balance to the just sweet flavor.. A bit salty n sweet corn, salty n fatty peanuts, cincau (made from seaweed), and all other ingredients. You can have fun while eating by just mix and match several flavor, or just one at the time or mix everything up! Some place even have lots more ingredients.. I'm a bit late in this comments section. However great contents, good job man.

ABC is "Ayer Batu Cendol" or ice cendol (cendol is that green colored rice flour stuff) in the dessert.
Peranakan or Nyonya or Nyonya Baba or Bibik usually relates to the culture of the Straits born Chinese ( Chinese born in Malaysia n Singapore in the early 20th century) who has adopted the local Malay customs and language and infused them with their own Chinese roots. This includes their way of dressing, speaking and even cooking which has typical Malay influence... 😊 Cheers from 🇸🇬
