Where did you get the workshop manual?
I honestly don't remember the site Eddie. I'll check for you
@OverideZA Great, thanks bud!

@@MegatronicsZA Thanks !
Oil must be drained from two places and filed only in reverse gear switch hole
I don't know about that. I did this the way the workshop manual stated
Es correcto vaciado tornillo lateral llenado tornillo frontal no se llena como te an dicho
I'll try to translate this and reply
Workshop manual states as you shown in video that you lock gear selector then you first drain oil from drain plug then you also drain residual oil from a certain pin/screw.Then you fill 1.9l oil from reverse light switch hole@@MegatronicsZA
@@nikoschrys4051 I tried to look for the reverse light switch hole and couldn't see it, I then opted for this. I know now.
Thanks Nico.
I am getting a problem with some lights coming on after I turn off the car after about 45 min they come on what do you think could be that problem the car is a jetta
What are those lights a warning of?
What spec for mk5 automatic oil transmission?
Get something written DCTF II
@@MegatronicsZA its the same capacity oil 2L?
@jpcustom4859 the ATF is slightly more than the MT fluid. When re-filling the ATF you don't have to worry about the level, as soon as the level is enough/full the excess oil will start coming out. Then you'll know that the gearbox has enough transmission fluid
@@MegatronicsZA thank you mate, its my first golf i have nay thing to know about it
@@jpcustom4859 no worries man, I will always help where I can. Enjoy the car man and take care of it
If the manufacturer says that the capacity is 1,7 liters then you sould put only 1,7 liters, i can see that the front of the car is jacked up so for sure it will need more oil, i think that you should let the car on a flat surface and then fill it as much oil says the manual.
Yes indeed it says 1,7 litres so I filled that up and then drove the car with the wheels up for oil to get on the other gears as well. After that I then dropped the car on a flat surface and filled up
Neat job.
Thanks a lot man, I appreciate it
What an amature new oil everywhere total disaster, maybe you should change the channel name from Overide to Overflow
What do you mean?
You failed to follow the basic VW maintenance instructions on how to do this job that you posted in your video.
You didn't remove pivot pin 2.
Nor did you top up the oil level through the correct reverse switch hole as per VW manual instructions.
Very disappointing that you failed to do this simple job correctly
@@colin5064 the manual that I followed states that I do it the way I did it. I'm sorry I didn't do it according to how you would've wanted me to... But other than that I did replace the oil.
@@MegatronicsZA Actually you did do it incorrectly brother, not to be mean or anything, but just a shout out to others that might be looking for the correct procedure.. You have not followed the VW directions in the very manual you uploaded here, not only that but you´ve only drained out half the oil here, have a look again at 1:40 8.2 .. The gear selector is locked and removed to expose the fill plug which is the reverse light switch on top of the gearbox beneath the selector - once this is removed then drain oil from TWO drain plugs, not just the large plug (which only drains half the oil in the gearbox) but the pin number 2 shown in the instructions also at the beginning of this vid, change the O-ring on drain pin number 2 as stated, refit both drain plugs, then fill the required amount of oil (as stated in the owners manual) through the fill hole on top of gearbox as mentioned earlier.. there´s no way of checking the oil level, so you have to make sure the correct amount of oil is replaced..
@@34979Charlie you are not being mean for telling the truth how you see it, it's great to speak your mind. Which is why I don't turn off the comments so that anyone having a different way of doing stuff can share that too. Well, your input is noted, thank you.
